Centene Corporation was founded in 1984 and originally sold Medicaid plans in Wisconsin. The origin of the company is heartwarming — it was started by a hospital’s bookkeeper to help lower income folks get the healthcare they need. The bookkeeper, Betty Brinn, had grown up in a children’s home, so she knew firsthand the challenges lower income families face. Today, this company offers multiple insurance plans that cover 1 in 15 Americans.
Does Centene Corporation Cover Addiction Treatment?
It’s common to wonder if your insurance plan will cover drug rehab. The good news is that there was a law passed in 2010 called the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This law says most long term insurance plans have to cover specific health benefits. Both mental health and addiction treatment are on the list. That means most Centene plans will help pay at least some of the cost of drug rehab. However, there are exceptions to the law, so be sure to verify your coverage.
There are multiple types of addiction treatment. Your doctor will create a treatment plan showing the path you should follow. After you finish treatment, there are a lot of aftercare resources that can help you stay on the right track long term.
Before you start treatment, though, it’s important to understand the details of your insurance. Different plans have different coverage. The insurance company can help you find treatment centers in the plan’s network, for example. That maximizes your insurance benefits while helping you pay lower out of pocket costs.
BEST PLACE EVER. I have tried various other doctors/clinics and none of them even begin to compare to this one. The staff here is absolutely amazing. I can’t even make a single complaint. Dr Son is the best as well. He explains everything and you truly feel like he understands you. I can proudly say this, this place saved my life. If you or someone you know needs help getting off opiates do it right the first time and come here. You won’t be disappointed. If you are specifically struggling with fentanyl please don’t waste your time with other ways. I have tried 6 other methods from lazer therapy to having the earpiece to suboxone. Methadone is the key to our current fentanyl crisis. This clinic makes recovery possible again!

The nurses at the hurst location and also Samantha the receptionist are all so kind and compassionate!! They all go above and beyond the call of duty. They should all be praised for their hard work and their kindness to their patients!!
These people have helped me recover from the worst point in my life to become a much better happier person today. I owe my life and my family to this place. Especially Leia, Cynthia, and Mary. But I want to thank everyone else for being a part of this process.

My husband went through the independence center over 30 years ago. He did relapse after the first 3 months but he did not attend any aftercare or AA. Within a year he started going to AA and has been sober for almost 35 years. My son has also been through the independence center twice with varied success. He has had relapses but maintained sobriety for the majority of the time. He has used the tools he learned there to get sober again after relapsing without having to reenter treatment. The program will work for you if your honest with yourself and do the work. Good luck and god bless!

When you are ready, you are ready. I did three rehabs in the span of three summers and I’ve been sober a year and a half since going to the Independence Center.
The ENTIRE staff wass genuinely interested in my recovery. Of course it’s up to me how honest I want to be with my counselor, Chaplin and myself (and God), but their unwavering encouragement doesn’t hurt and it didn’t. The facility is much better than others I’ve been to in Nebraska and they keep the distracting extracurricular horseplay to minimum. They have a great culture and alumni in the A.A. and Lincoln communities.
And the 3 months that I was here, I learned a lot about myself. I dealt with trauma, wrote a good buy letter to each and every trauma I ever endured. I dealt with the passing of my father, while I was in the program. The love and support from the staff and the clients, help me to navigate this trying time. I was able to go to outings, alumni events; pool party volleyball speaker meeting. I was taking to a meeting a day. And best of all I was given all the tools that I need to be able to live my life clean and to handle any situation that comes my way without using! I'll be forever grateful to cornerstone and for all the amazing, kind-hearted, genuine, down to earth family - I could have ever imagined to hope for! In addition to this, per cornerstone I was able to go through my steps with a sponsor, and I had the environment, that made me want to do the steps thoroughly, that's something that I had always missed out on when trying to get recovered! Thank you cornerstone, I love you!!!

I came in broken—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Addiction had taken everything from me. But from the very first day, Cornerstone made me feel like I wasn’t just another number. The staff truly cares, and you can feel it in every conversation, every group, every moment.
The clinical team is rock solid, the therapy is deep and real, and the community is powerful. It’s not some cookie-cutter program—this place challenges you, builds you back up, and gives you the tools to actually live differently.
I’ve been to other rehabs before, but nothing compares to the connection and transformation I found here. Cornerstone helped me rebuild my life—and for the first time, I’m proud of the man I’m becoming. If you’re serious about getting clean and doing the real work, this is where you start.
Thank you, Cornerstone. You gave me my life back.
I just want to shout out Christy Murrell for her upmost dedication to the clients, she is invested in ensuring the wellbeing of any client she comes into contact with!

I have just graduated from this program today. And what I have to say is, I am so grateful for Provive wellness, they have been apart of the programs that have saved my life. The staff has been extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Extremely organized and apart of the journey with you. If it wasn’t for me talking to Tracy and getting information, idk that I would have choose the program. Coming out of residential treatment I was scared to start all over again. But she walked me through all of the steps and her kindness settled my fear. And on day one clients were so welcoming and Cameron, the group facilitar and therapist, was so warm and welcoming. The way he thinks and the way he puts perspective out there was so impactful. My therapist Elisha, was so gentle with me and lead groups as well. She was so insightful and I’m so grateful that I got her. This place was life changing for me. Those who are struggling with their mental health, should consider coming to a Provive. When you feel lost, you will be found. And I was found here at Provive.

Provide is a wonderful place for healing. I’m really glad I got in touch with Chelsea. Great place and great people. Would definitely recommend!
I was taken to the ER by my boss when I started having trouble talking at work. Unfortunately it was a busy morning at the ER and I had to wait over half an hour to be taken back and examined. When a CT scan revealed blood on my brain they transferred me to Bryan West where the trauma unit is located. I was seen by many specialists. They explained that I had a small brain bleed and why I was having my strange symptoms.

Blessed and highly favored! Nearly 5 years have passed since departing the BeachHouse-hard to believe. I'm grateful for my 35 days spent here. That is an understatement. Although I was incapable of taking an honest inventory of my problems at the time, little did I know that I would leave the BeachHouse with my luggage and one extra bag-a toolbox. A toolbox full of stuff that would go on to assist me by "staying in the solution" one day at a time. Sober sure is better!
Sincerely, Matt J.

I've been in Anaheim for 2 months and being from Texas ,I love it out here. Not just the weather but the people at Restorations are awesome, the actually care about their clients. Even Roc the guy that runs the program. The 1st time I met him I went to introduce myself and he already knew who I was. I think that's awesome. I can tell he's been where I've been by listening to him speak. Coming out here has been one of the best decisions I've made next to goin to college I would recommend giving it a try if your looking for help to get your life together.

SCREAMING I LOVE YALL FOR ACTUALLY CARING BEST SOBER FAMILY , ROC AND ALL YOUR STAFF ARE REALLY BLESSING IN MINE AND MY WIFES LIFE THANK YOU !!!
At an AA meeting tonight and ran into a few new members of OCH. I was in tears thinking about my care team from my experience here. Taylor...... my counselor....fougheddaboudit...tears are coming back now. Taylor really really helped me put my life back together. I'd meet with Taylor weekly and discuss what I worked on since our last weekly meeting and anything i might need help with and do everything she could to help. I didn't know how. All i knew was alcoholism. I'm just not finding the words right now to express my gratitude. 😘
And Patrick! My therapist....hmmm....well now im kinda giggling knowing that it is possible with professional help to cope with my past. I didn't think it was possible. I still and always will have bad days but through Patrick I'm slowly learning how to use my experience to help others and therefore giving me more strength and hope with each new day 💯
Then you got this person called a nurse practitioner. Ha! It takes a month for those pills to help 🤣 But they do! I tell the guys I run into there now that it's not like swiggin down a bottle but just sit still and wait for the miracle.
To anyone reading this i never imagined being where I am today. Oops...another tear of joy... Thank you OCH!

Frequently Asked Questions
Medication-Assisted Treatment: Does Centene Cover Suboxone & Methadone?
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is a form of treatment available for alcohol and opioid addictions. With this form of treatment, FDA-approved medications are combined with other therapies to treat substance use disorders. Centene plans may cover expenses for any prescription medications that are required for your addiction treatment, such as Suboxone or methadone. The specific plan determines how much you’ll have to pay out-of-pocket.
MAT programs generally include counseling and individual and group therapy, and this aspect of the program is also covered by most Centene plans. Keep in mind you may need a referral to a MAT program to get insurance coverage, and your doctor might need to preauthorize the care with the insurance company before you begin.
Does Centene Corporation Cover Other Mental Healthcare?
Behavioral health encompasses both mental health and substance use treatment. Most Centene plans offer resources to support members who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental and behavioral health concerns.
Depending on your plan and medical needs, you might be able to get coverage for both inpatient and outpatient services. These services include crisis support, individual and group therapy, medication to manage mental health, and more.
One thing that’s important to keep in mind is that many people have both a mental health diagnosis and substance use concerns, which is known as co-occurring disorders. In this case, getting integrated treatment for mental health and addiction together is essential to achieving long term recovery.
Common types of therapy that may be covered by your insurance plan include Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Motivational interviewing, and trauma-based therapy.
What Kinds of Insurance Does Centene Offer?
Centene has a clear focus: they offer Medicaid plans, Medicare Advantage options, and individual and family plans through the Health Insurance Marketplace in multiple states. In fact, they are the nation’s largest Medicaid managed care organization. That makes sense since they started off as a Medicaid provider.
Medicare Advantage plans are options for older Americans and others who qualify for Medicare. These plans can help you get benefits that aren’t normally part of Medicare, like dental or vision coverage. However, they also have more limited provider networks.
Families and individuals can get Centene plans on their state’s insurance marketplace. The insurance marketplace was created by the ACA. It helps Americans get affordable insurance coverage by providing lower premiums for those with lower incomes. You can sign up or change your insurance in the marketplace during certain times of year.
It’s important to understand that every insurance plan is unique. Your plan will have a specific provider network and out of pocket costs for every type of care, including drug rehab. To set yourself up for success, be sure to get the details before you start treatment.
What Inpatient Rehab Does Centene Corporation Cover?
Most Centene plans cover both inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment. However the amount of coverage varies by plan and state.
Depending on the individual policy Centene insurance may cover inpatient rehab services such as medical detox and residential treatment. It is extremely important that individuals check with their insurance provider to determine coverage and out of pocket expenses. You’ll also want to know if prior authorization is required and if you need to stick with in network providers.
In-patient medical detox allows for individuals to receive medical supervision while going through the withdrawal process. This can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. Healthcare providers will provide medication and other treatment to help manage withdrawal symptoms in an environment where clients have 24/7 support. Medical detox can take place in a dedicated inpatient detox facility, hospital or residential setting.
Residential treatment allows you to focus fully on treatment without any outside distractions. You may have individual and group therapy. Many treatment centers also offer holistic treatment like yoga and meditation along with art therapy and other options. You’ll live full time at the facility for the duration of the program which is between 30 and 90 days.
What Types of Outpatient Addiction Treatment Does Centene Corporation Cover?
Outpatient rehab and detox is covered by most Centene plans. Depending on the individual policy, Centene may cover outpatient rehab services such as partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) and intensive outpatient programs (IOPs). They likely also cover general outpatient care and medication assisted treat (MAT).
MAT uses FDA approved drugs to support the recovery process for weeks or months and in some cases years. Studies show that MAT greatly decreases relapse rates and allows you to focus on recovery rather than cravings.
PHPs are full day programs where you receive treatment similar to a residential program but you go home at night. An IOP offers around nine hours of treatment a week and often has evening or morning sessions so you can accommodate work or school. These intensive programs are helpful after you finish residential treatment.
After the intensive programs you step down to general outpatient care which offers 1 or 2 hours of counseling a week. You can also get aftercare support and connections to peer support groups.
How to Verify Your Centene Corporation Coverage
Centene has a variety of ways for their members to verify their insurance coverage. One way to do this is by calling the toll free number on the back of the member card. Centene also has a website where participants can look up benefits and find in network medical providers or find educational health information.
Finally if you have a specific treatment center in mind they may be able to help with verifying your insurance. They can also let you know if you need your doctor to call for preauthorization before you begin treatment.
Calls to any general helpline will be answered or returned by a paid advertiser.
By calling the helpline you agree to the terms of use. We do not receive any commission or fee that is dependent upon which treatment provider a caller chooses. There is no obligation to enter treatment.
