When it came to the realization I needed help to overcome my addiction, I ended up choosing to go to Sobermans. I couldn't have been more grateful for this choice and the experience. I can't say enough about the accommodations, setting, and food. However those things mean nothing without the proper staff. The best thing about Sobermans is their people. The care I received from each and every member of staff there was overwhelming. I've since returned for some aftercare and Alumni events, and upon my return, it feels like home. I would highly recommend Sobermans for any man that needs help with addiction or getting your mind cleared. I promise, if you put in the effort that their staff does, you will leave different person!

The nurses at the hurst location and also Samantha the receptionist are all so kind and compassionate!! They all go above and beyond the call of duty. They should all be praised for their hard work and their kindness to their patients!!
Highly recommend this company! This is a great program for either first timers or if you are looking for something different to try in your recovery journey. The staff are supportive of your individualized needs and you get ample attention as opposed to fading into the background. Here you can build strong and trusting relationships with both staff and others seeking treatment. I was a patient at DFC rehab facility and recently graduated. I can say hands down they saved my life . Not only did they teach me about alcoholism and what it means to be in recovery . i developed long time friendships that i know will help me to stay sober . i also loved how caring the staff where. I wasn't the easiest patient at first but with their love and support i was able to not only become a recovering alcoholic but i have become a whole new person . This was my second tine in DFC outpatient treatment, the reason I chose DFC was their teaching, there, client, and the friendly environment. I have been to many treatment centers in my past when I knew in my heart I was serious about recovering from drugs and alcohol. There was no other place that I wanted to go other than Design For Change. They give group and individual counseling tailored for the individual which helped me tremendously. They help me find out what I want and how to go about getting it in the group setting they don’t allow disturbances. They make sure everyone is focused. An attentive, which makes it easy to learn. DFC, my wife says thank you for giving her her husband back.

Amazing residential home! Or at least the one I was at in Huntington beach. Love the food, staff, nd they also helped me get a job towards the end of my treatment!!
I had the most amazing experience of my life! WWR saved my life in many ways. I tackled multiple addictions and took advantage of every service they offer (which there are many!). The counselors and recovery advocates are incredible. While I now have the tools to go back to the real world, I will miss this place in my soul. I would recommend WWR to anyone needing to face addiction or any other mental challenge.

Windmill is set amongst a beautiful scenery of trees and deers, that enables peace of mind and a healing quietness for the spirit. To say I can't give enough stars for Windmill Wellness Ranch would be a true understatement. This place saved my life brought me back my happiness and gave me the tools for a beautiful future. The staff at Windmill have real life experience and top-notch education to help the struggling no matter what you are struggling with. They really pay attention to you and your situation. They do an excellent job placing you, from your roommates,to your process group, your therapist and recovery coach. That being said if you feel it is not working they will work with you to make you feel comfortable. I've never felt like I've truly fit in in my whole life. I've always felt like the oddball out.Here I found my tribe and We are doing this new happy exciting life sober!!!
When my younger brother finally decided to seek help for his alcohol addiction, I spent countless hours researching treatment programs. From the moment I came across the website for Tree House Recovery PDX, I knew this was something special. A truly unique program that stood out from every other rehab facility I had seen.
Tree House’s focus on building a brotherhood grounded in mutual respect, compassion, and empowerment immediately resonated with me. My brother had spent years feeling isolated and disconnected, and I knew this kind of community could give him the sense of belonging he’d been missing.
The combination of strength training and mindfulness yoga was unlike anything I had come across before. Replacing harmful habits with physical strength and mental resilience was exactly what my brother, once an athletic, active teenager, needed to reconnect with a version of himself that existed before alcohol took hold.

Tree House has given him tools to cope with disappointment and setbacks, develop healthier reasoning skills, and rediscover the strength that comes from brotherhood, from leaning on and lifting up others walking the same path. He’s learned how to have fun without substances and surround himself with people who genuinely care about his well-being.
Initially, I worried Tree House might not be an option for us financially. But then I saw the words at the bottom of their website:

Our lives we had built over almost 40 years together were failing. We were scared, we were desolate and drowning, our family was tapped out, ashamed of our choices and finally desperately seeking help from anyone that would listen. No one was listening. We had waited too long thinking it was no problem, not really, we weren’t like “those people”, we knew that we could quit, he hadn’t relapsed he had had surgery and a month long hospital stay, we would easily just get a job, move in with family till we were on our feet, we’d done it many times before, he had been sober 17 out of 25 years, snap no worries….. we were so wrong about it ALL. Weeks later and my husband had been in detox for around 10 days in Eugene, the farthest place away my boys could find that would take and keep him, I had been making as usual, call after call, text chat after text chat, day after day, page after page, talking to each rehab, each place that said no, sent by them always to try another few and when they said no the search online would lead me to more. All of them said no for whatever reason, mostly full beds and even if there were available beds, they wouldn’t take our insurance since the Covid exceptions are all expiring. Or they would take our insurance but only for detox which he is already in. The luxury, lol, rehabs all offered self pay ofcourse, thousands upon thousands and we had no money. I had almost given up any hopes we once shared and I got a text back from someone. Not wanting to hear no again after pouring out our story through tears, I was frustrated and angry and I got to the point, “do you take our insurance or not?” No answer but they said I’d be chat contacted soon. Sure. Sure. Then I was, his name was Matt from Tree House Recovery, and he listened. I couldn’t believe he listened. My husband is 60, he is lost. I am lost. Matt gave me hope. Tree Houses Website and videos and links to YouTube gave me hope. Matt asked me if My husband was tired of self medicating and being in life long pain, were our lives unmanageable, were we on the bottom. We were way past that and we were going to die. Witnessing a loved one hit rock bottom is a scary and heartbreaking experience, especially when you hadn’t realized they were struggling with addiction. Then having to suddenly research treatment facilities was a raw mix of emotions. Thankfully we found Tree House Recovery PDX to help guide our entire family through the treatment journey, starting with my brother who was struggling with alcoholism.
Tree House Recovery PDX is a holistic addiction treatment program for men. When first visiting their site, I immediately noticed their empowering voice mixed with an emphasis on team-focused, complete recovery — not to mention MMA, Yoga, and Writing Therapy. Tree House treats the mind, body, and spirit for sustainable recovery, by building strength through fitness, addiction education, writing, 1:1, group sessions, etc. The more we learned about their holistic approach, the more we were ready to contact an admissions counselor — and ultimately my brother made the decision to enter the program.
Privacy is of the utmost importance at Tree House Recovery PDX, so I don’t want to disclose too much, but know that the entire team treats everyone with care, respect, and professionalism. Clinical Director Karen Willock's monthly family group sessions were particularly impactful, and Nevin Andrews was incredibly responsive and kind throughout my brother’s 5-month treatment. White Sands is an amazing facility. i had a life changing experience while going through their detox and rehab program. From the minute I checked in until the minute I checked out, I was treated with grace and dignity. The staff are amazing from the sweet ladies who clean our rooms…to the techs….the therapists….medical doctors….psychiatric doctors…case managers…the cafe ladies….the food was delicious…everyone was amazing. If you find yourself needing some help, this is the place for you. I had housemates from other States, because White Sands is so amazing.
This place was amazing, very friendly staff who helped me through the tough time. I was given all the necessary tools to recover and get my life back on track. I hope I never need to go back to treatment again, but if I do I would definitely go back to Pacific Sands.

Does Carelon Behavioral Health Cover Methadone and Suboxone Treatment?
Carelon is a strong advocate for medication treatment for opioid use disorder. Methadone and Suboxone are two medications that treat opioid use disorder, but there are others too like buprenorphine and naltrexone. Most of their plans have this option.
You can also get medication assisted treatment (MAT) to help you overcome alcohol misuse. MAT is generally paired with treatment and counseling to help you lay a solid foundation for long term recovery.
How to Verify Coverage With Carelon
If your insurance company uses Carelon for behavioral health services, the way to check what services they have in their network is to visit Carelon’s website. Then look for the tab labeled “Find a Provider” near the top of the page. From there, they’ll ask you to enter the first three letters of the company you’re checking. When you do that, a list of possibilities will appear. Pick the one that you’re looking for from the list.

What Special Features Do Carelon Behavioral Health Plans Have?
Carelon offers a list of special programs you can participate in. Here are some of the ones that people who have addictions might be the most interested in knowing about.
The Child, Young Adult, and Family Health Program uses care managers to help connect you with the right resources from Carelon’s network. Their goal is to intervene early. They use data to help them figure out who’s at the highest risk and then reach out to you proactively.
Carelon also has a network of certified peer support specialists you can access when you have a Carelon plan. A peer support specialist can support you in your recovery because they understand what it means to recover.
Finally, in the Social Drivers of Health Program, Carelon uses community resource navigators to help connect you with local resources. These might include things like food, transportation and help filing for social security.
What Types of Inpatient Addiction Treatment Are Covered By Carelon?
Carelon may cover several varieties of addiction treatments where you stay overnight to get care. The most common is residential rehab which usually lasts a few weeks. The exact length of stay may vary as your progress is reviewed. Once you get to a point where you’re ready for the next step you’ll move on.
Carelon may also cover medical detox. Inpatient medical detox is another type of addiction treatment where you spend the night at the treatment center. It’s usually shorter than residential rehab lasting about three to ten days. It’s appropriate for people who need help getting through the detox process safely and as comfortably as possible.
Inpatient mental health treatment is another benefit you may get access to through Carelon. This treatment is for people whose psychiatric disorder needs acute treatment. It’s very common for addiction and mental health problems to happen together and some people may need to go to an inpatient psychiatric unit to get help for a mental health crisis. Once you are stabilized you will be able to move to a more long term treatment program.
What Types of Outpatient Addiction Treatment Are Covered By Carelon?
Partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs are outpatient treatments that Carelon may cover if they’re appropriate for you. In these types of treatment, you spend a part of each day at the treatment center participating in therapy and support groups but you go home at the end of the day.
Standard outpatient treatment is also a benefit that most plans include when they contract with Carelon. This includes regular appointments with a counselor and with a provider who can do your medication management. You may also participate in group therapy sessions.
Does Addiction Treatment Need to Be In Network?
The answer to this question depends on your specific plan. There are many plans that won’t pay for services you get outside the network. For example an HMO generally does not cover care that is out of network. Also, your health insurance plan may only access part of Carelon’s network, so it’s important to verify your coverage before using a service.
There are some plans that allow you to go out of network for treatment. Usually, going out of network means you’ll have to pay a higher deductible and you may also have higher copayments as well. These costs can be much higher than staying in network would be so you would want to be aware of your plan limits before you make a decision to go out of network.
Does Carelon Cover Other Mental Healthcare?
Carelon specializes in covering mental health treatment. The benefits and programs they can offer are comprehensive. They have case management services to help people coordinate mental health treatment from several different providers. They can also offer you help proactively if they see that you’re likely to need a certain service based on your health data.
Does Carelon Have Specialized Support for Military and Veterans?
Carelon works with the federal government to connect military members and their families to a wide range of mental health and substance use treatment services. They also connect plan members to services that are sensitive to the needs of people in the military that aren’t traditionally considered health services but nonetheless support the special needs of military service people and their families. These include support for deployment and reintegration, non-medical counseling and lifestyle coaching that’s specific to military families.
Can I Get Carelon Through My Employer?
There are many employer sponsored health plans that contract with Carelon for their behavioral health coverage. Since this usually happens behind the scenes you may have Carelon and not know it.
You might realize you have Carelon if your employer is offering one of their employee assistance programs (EAP). An EAP supports you in areas of your life that aren’t always health related but that may get in the way of your work.
For example the Carelon EAP can help you with finding childcare or care for elderly relatives. They can connect you with free legal advice and financial counseling too.
