About Serenity Springs – Men’s Residential

The Serenity Springs Recovery Center is located in Edgewater, Florida. The center is accredited by CARF and The Joint Commission. They’re also LegitScript certified.

Their inpatient residential treatment for men is on 38 acres of a lakefront property. Men struggling with a substance use disorder, mental health disorder and a co-occurring disorder are able to receive treatment. TRICARE is among the insurances that are accepted.

Breaking free from addiction is the goal they hope to achieve. Your entire treatment length will have a supportive and structured environment. Your length of stay will be dependent on you. Your treatment plan, progress, and goals will all play a role at determining your treatment stay.

During your individual and group therapy sessions, you will be able to address all the different aspects of addiction. Your self esteem will be enhanced and you will learn how to rebuild your life in a meaningful and safe way. You’ll also learn to develop healthy coping mechanisms.

You’ll be safe and immersed during your treatment experience. Because they have an integrated approach, both addiction and mental health issues will be addressed simultaneously.

They allow you to take your cell phone, but it will be locked away upon admission. You’re permitted to smoke and vape in designated areas. If you vape, make sure you take the disposable kind. They do not allow the vapes that are required to be refilled.

The only family members allowed on property are those who are participating in family therapy. These members may only be on property when a family therapy is scheduled. Once you complete treatment, you will be able to level down in care with their outpatient program.

Definitely some of the best staff members I could ask for. Super polite and understanding with every question or problem I had in my first week, so thank you. It wouldn t run as smoothly without you guys. However, I feel I should mention there s a lot of misrepresentation on the website and in the pictures. For example, you re not allowed to use your phone under almost any circumstances. The only way to get temporary access is to go through your therapist for calling family or similar purposes. For every other call you want to make, you have to wait until Sundays. There is zero texting allowed, but you'll get 15 minutes to use the house phone with an RA nearby. Since I've been there, the basketball court has been broken and unusable for months. There are wasp nests around every corner of the houses outside, and the pictures on the website make it look like there is an entire golf course on the property, which does not exist. There is no acupuncture; their form of meditation is a 5-minute breathing exercise in the mornings. Their outings are mostly accurate; I ve heard of the group doing bowling, but you re typically going to the beach for 1-2 hours. Their professional chef is actually a pastry chef who typically makes large portions of Caesar or house salad with grilled chicken. There were many days when we had days-old grilled chicken, pot roast with frozen vegetables, and some sort of rice or pasta, which the group would reheat the following week until she got back from the weekend. You're typically not allowed to make your own food (though I always cooked up something good ). Looking past all of that, it's similar to a strict sober living and much better than being homeless on the street, but be prepared to be babied, deal with changing schedules, and follow some of the silliest rules known to man lol.

Great staff, especially Michelle, Barb, Tina & Wes. Program goal is, to make you feel like, based upon your bad decisions. Turn your life upon God. Common sense, anyone with an addiction, will fix their mind based upon, they would like. Every individual, knows their own goal. They just want your insurance money, food is garbage. Fed us great value from Walmart. The cook Kim, would take leftover and make something out of it, such as Shepard s pie with.a week old of leftover from the fridge.Had me cleaning, the kitchen spotless, for grown people & bathrooms. This place is dirty, don t let those pictures despise you. When my time was up, my therapist is fake crying, to get me to prolong the program. When I have my a whole life ahead of me financially. Left the program, & Im not brainwashed especially after crackhead Darrel. My insurance is paying this facility & I can t watch TV after 11pm. Having to beg to talk to my family. I thought a recovery center, is here to support you and keep your mind sane.If you really have a problem, with addiction, and your insurance is paying. Choose somewhere else. No need for your insurance to pay for you to clean up and eat low class food after grown men.I ve learned nothing at all from this program. I stood quiet, everyday. Accepted Insurance

Serenity Springs – Men’s Residential works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

monthly iconMonthly

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
inpatient iconInpatient
Serenity Springs offers a variety of services for at our secluded, all-male inpatient facility in Edgewater, Florida. Their men’s residential addiction recovery program meets every client’s individual needs. They combine the latest clinical and medical techniques with our twelve-step immersion (completion) program. Their treatment team includes master’s level clinicians, medical, and treatment professionals, creating a 2:1 client-to-staff ratio. Small groups allow the staff of Serenity Springs to provide individualized treatment plans and counseling to all clients.
12-step icon12-Step
Clients are able to undergo the necessary psychic change by being given the opportunity to complete all 12 Steps while in treatment. 12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Hypnotherapy (aka guided hypnosis) can be used as a therapeutic modality to treat substance use, especially in terms of quitting smoking cigarettes (nicotine). Clinical hypnotherapists help clients turn their attention inward, accessing unconscious or subconscious material, and then make suggestions that are healthier for the individual. The process can help clients make deep, positive, and lasting changes, including ceasing addictive habits.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. To prepare clients for life beyond treatment, Serenity Springs offers instruction in the following areas; Goal setting, personal budgeting, credit repair, resume building, business etiquette, and career assessment.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health. The Amino Acid Therapy is a groundbreaking procedure that has proven to be the most effective method available to assist the body and brain in repairing the damage done by drugs (illegal or prescription), alcohol, marijuana, nicotine and more.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

This place is really great. The staff truly care for the people who come in needing a miracle and put in the work to make treatment enjoyable and effective. They made sure I understood the process of the program and any questions or concerns that came up were addressed on the spot. The facilities are clean and the food was made with love by their in house chef. The grounds are beautiful there. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate everyone involved in helping me get a strong footing in my early recovery. Thanks for everything guys!

I have had experience with a relative that has been in and out of several rehabs and sober living facilities over several years. I can say without any reservation that this rehab facility which is more like a sober living facility, has staff that includes nursing and counselors who care and engage with concern. So many of rehabs are mediated by sales reps who know what to say but really don't care. But I did not find that sales pitch nonsense at Serenity Springs. They are concerned and the person you talk to is the person who works there rather than a sales person. In the end its up to the user of drugs and, or alcohol to accept they are powerless on their own and stop trying to do it their own way after a week , a month or longer of sobriety. Justin and his staff at Serenity Springs can help those with these types of addictions understand there is a pathway to a lifestyle of support and helping others that are part of living clean and sober. I am grateful, after so many other experiences to have run into Serenity Springs by chance, Gods help, or just plain luck. I hope you will be too.

This place is anti-science and anti-medicine. My friend went here last April for alcohol addiction. In the second week, they pulled him out of his anti-depressants improperly without any logical explanation or medical guidance. When he was finally starting to get better, he had withdrawn from his medicines and suddenly got worse. He relapsed the day he got out of the center, and was more fragile than ever. He would have 5-10 panic and anxiety attacks on a daily basis, and it was basically unmanageable without alcohol until he started new antidepressants. They made him feel even more hopeless than before. He also told me they cut someone else's medicine who was medically diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, and they had to take him to the mental hospital. They don t even have a real therapist or therapy sessions. One of the comments mentioned their non-existed family program. It s even worse. You re allowed to have only one phone call weekly even in emergency situations and their employees are very rude to family and friends who are worried about their loved ones. I m glad it helped some people, but I can t recommend it less.

We appreciate when our clients take time to review us. We understand the frustration that comes from having a loved one battle with addiction. Serenity Springs has a full medical staff and qualified licensed therapists which see patients and whose credentials are openly available on our website. We have an active family program for those who choose to participate; we offer family therapy both in person and on Zoom, which can help identify potential areas that may contribute to relapse and to help build trust among family members. Our cell-phone policy is in line with that of other rehab facilities; in-patients do not have full access to their phones while they focus on recovery. We are so honored to have helped so many clients recover but respect that maybe SSRC was not the place your friend ultimately recovered. We wish him a healthy future and to you as well!

I can't find strong enough words to express the extent of my gratitude to Justin and the Serenity Springs Staff. I got back the love of my life and have confidence in his ongoing sobriety. The journey started when we initially met with Justin, who showed compassion and caring about my fiance before even knowing that we could get J admitted. J voluntarily entered the program looking for sobriety, and now truly realizes he gained a new lease on life. Our next step was navigating health insurance coverage and FMLA. At a time like this, you need to focus on your loved one, but also have to take finances into account. We were never alone in this process. Justin kept us well-informed and assisted whenever we asked. The professionalism and commitment of the staff was evident throughout J's month-long education at Serenity Springs. Not a day goes by that J doesn't speak fondly of his memories and experiences with Jason, Rino, Miss Kim, and other members of the staff.Having this experience in the midst of Covid 19, it was comforting to know that cleanliness of the facility and accommodations were constantly well-maintained.Serenity Springs has been a Godsend in our lives, as we know it has been in many others.
