About Southwest Network

Southwest Network - Saguaro is an outpatient behavioral health clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. They serve adults and adolescents with serious mental health conditions as well as those seeking support for general mental health and substance abuse. They can even address dual diagnosis. Their recovery efforts focus on helping you overcome these behavioral challenges and regain control of your life.

They provide a welcoming and supportive environment for individuals at every stage of the recovery journey. This ranges from people needing treatment for acute symptoms to those seeking occasional counseling, medication management or health maintenance. It’s also great that they accept Medicare and AHCCCS/Medicaid. If you’re uninsured and unable to pay they can still work with you to ensure that you receive care.

They deliver individualized treatment tailored to the client’s unique needs, all thanks to their multidisciplinary team of experts. These include licensed therapists, counselors and physicians. Peer mentors, case managers and rehabilitation specialists are also among these professionals. These experts work together to ensure clients receive the highest standard of care. They even provide multilingual interpreters to ensure support for individuals in different languages throughout their recovery.

Their comprehensive services include psychiatric and substance abuse evaluation, crisis intervention and behavioral therapy. Medication management, personal care and life skills development are also among the major services. Additionally, they offer case management and rehabilitation support. These may involve care coordination, employment rehabilitation/training and housing assistance. These services are provided through your case manager and rehabilitation specialist. Peer support is also provided through peer mentors. Specialized assistance is available for clients seeking court-ordered treatment for mental health or substance use disorders.

Their assertive community treatment team provides supportive services for highly vulnerable and homeless adults dealing with various acute conditions. Another cool thing about this program is that their adult services are equipped with a full service onsite pharmacy. This makes it convenient to access medications for better continuity of care.

Accepted Insurance

Southwest Network works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program

Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Residents of Arizona who are experiencing relationship problems may benefit from couples therapy. This form of psychotherapy helps couples express their feelings, resolve conflicts, and increase intimacy and affection.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

I spent several years here being monitored by a psychiatrist that doesn t know the difference between Borderline and Bipolar. He gave me the wrong medication and I literally thought something was inherently wrong with me and that I couldn t be fixed. YEARS.I am now doing so much better with another psychiatrist - this clinic needs to be investigated thoroughly before someone much meaner than I am comes through that door. I can t believe they hired someone without thoroughly checking to see if they can perform the job. I can only imagine how many others suffered.

Not the place to go for mental help. We are their meal ticket. They're just there to collect a pay check and not do their job...Joe: expressed his thoughts on patients that dont take their meds. "Cant make a diabetic take their meds" first of all diabetics and mental illness don't relate.Angela: never follows up on any progress, paperwork or a simple question. Then says I left you messages after we've given up on their help which was 2 year being on the program and leaves a message 5 months after asking a question.Eileen: is never there when you need to talk.& The person that oversees the department don't care to address the issues.I think I'll put in my disputes with ahcccs and go up the chain levels...

The service here is deplorable. It felt as though I was the one managing the case managers. It's also very frustrating when a client asks a question, and can never get a straightforward and simple answer. There is always some specialist or team member they must check with first. Or they appear to be deliberately vague on things like time frame and the availability of specific programs. This is very heartbreaking as people are dying every day and every minute from mental illness and addiction. I do hope someone with power to change things reads this. I am also planning to notify Mercy Care and the state about these incompetencies which I have listed in more detail.
