To everyone at Pinelands Recovery Center of Medford:I wanted to write a review regarding my inpatient experience at Pinelands. Going in and finally facing reality, truly understanding the meaning behind my life has become unmanageable was probably there most embarrassing, scariest, and lowest point in my life. Having to look your spouse, family and friends in the face and admitting I truly have a problem , is something I wish upon no one. However, walking through those doors , easily the scariest moment in my life, I am immediately greeted with Welcome to the Ritz! . I truly wanted to tell everyone where to go in explicit form, but held back as this was solely my fault and had to deal with my disease directly with the help of the entire staff. Kyle was the first person to greet me and in some weird way, mixed emotions and all, I felt a sense of relief? How? I had no clue. I was given my Pineland s fashionable, temporary scrubs and hid in my room until my clothes were returned, simply not wanting to be the stand-out new-kid ... everyone knew so don t take a page out of my book. After a day or two, making friends and being welcome with open arms, I started to trust the process. Missing home, my Wife, and Family of course, but knowing this is something I had to do for myself. Soon after getting acclimated, I met Chris Chrispy . You can t miss him, he looks like an Ad out of a Colgate commercial. Always smiling and somehow making you feel, at what feels like your rock bottom, refreshingly welcome and gives you the sense of, they ve got me , everything will be okay . You can go on and on about the staff. Playing basketball with Eric, Chrispy, and Kyle after the work day is over makes everything feel like your life is turning. This is what being Sober feels like? Why did I wait so long? Are these my counselors who ve now become my friends? Little Eric, and my my girl, Ash have to get their shoutouts too! Amber, keep holding down the fort and keeping everyone in line, as you did so well.As far as the recovery process and the real reason for my review, and I don t mean this as a cliche or body of a Hallmark card, but Pinelands and their staff, whole-heartedly changed my life. Waking up happy everyday, full of energy, continuing to do the process and working the steps really has made my life something to live for. Even when you think you have it all (as I did), the disease does not discriminate. IT doesn t care if you re a millionaire or homeless, married or single, 10 or 100.. if you re dealt that hand, you have to fold. Folding that hand is accepting. Admitting and accepting the honest truth is key. The structure of the program makes it very easy to navigate through your day. It becomes clock-work, yet still having the time to journal, talk to piers, draw, or simply walk around outside and take a breath. These guys made that nightmare become a dream and while 30 days seems like a year, I cannot express how much you can and will change if you WANT to change and take what everyone at Pinelands says - to heart. My assigned therapist was Sam. She helped more then she even knows. She listened to me rant for longer then she needed to and always responded to my issues in somehow the perfect way, even though it may have not been what I wanted to hear. I always asked Sam to be blunt, I don t want to beat around the bush, and she respected that, while still being professional and caring. Thank You, Sam, Chrispy, Kyle, Eric^2, Ash, and everyone at Pinelands for changing my life. I really didn t think it was possible, but you all made it happen. To anyone considering Pinelands, stop searching around, if you re accepted to the Ritz, you ll come out feeling like you could actually afford a room there. Thanks everyone,Andy

Pinelands is a great location to begin your process of recovery. The staff from top to bottom were kind and friendly. It will give you a great base to safely begin your recovery and also gives you different paths to get there. One great option offered is follow up after you leave the facility. My favorite are the alumni monthly meetings.

Location

Accepted Insurance

Pinelands Recovery Center of Medford works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. With medical stabilization, clients feel comfortable and cared for, so they want to continue the process of recovery. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. Continuing IOP at one of our facilities involves a minimum 3 hours participation every day.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Stay away

Stay away. They charged my card $400 for a test and not give me results when I left. Only because I had to leave on the 8th day. They would have kept my belongings for 3 days so I should have left on the 5th day to care for my very sick mom.

Pinelands Recovery Center is an amazing place and helped saved my life! I was treated for alcohol addiction and came in feeling a shell of a person and leaving alive again. The entire staff was extremely professional, caring, thoughtful and had the very best interest for my recovery. This was my first in-treatment experience for alcoholism and only wished I visited this place earlier in my battle for recovery. I would highly recommend Pinelands who is serious about quitting alcohol or drug addiction. Mark M.

If you want to get sober and learn how to choose a pathway for staying sober after you leave this excellently run facility, please consider Pinelands. This facility is an inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation that teaches the patient how to live a life free from one s drug of choice that is fun and rewarding. When I came to Pinelands I was closed off emotionally and alcohol was ruining my entire life. I was welcomed immediately by staff and other patients, introduced to about 75 people in the course of my first three days there, and quickly felt like part of the community. I learned how to feel and process emotions and I was exposed to many different recovery modalities ranging from AA and NA to Smart Recovery, and Refuge Recovery plus many others. My therapist, Amanda and my psychiatric nurse, Christie were a privilege to work with. The staff across the board are friendly and empathetic and my peers that I met there are wonderful people. Pinelands takes recovery seriously, but they also have fun. I laughed easily as much as I have laughed in a long time. Both in treatment groups and hanging out socially with my peers.

Pinelands is an exceptional place. The staff are incredibly dedicated and genuinely care about your success. My therapist, Niki, was outstanding professional, calm, knowledgeable, and genuine. The food was good, with snacks available anytime, and the facility was always clean. It felt like home away from home! Being surrounded by the woods made the experience even more special, offering a peaceful, close-to-nature feeling that was very healing. The wellness activities, like meditation, yoga, and the bi-weekly chiropractor visits, were fantastic and greatly enhanced my stay.Overall, my time at Pinelands exceeded all expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a supportive and effective care environment.

I had the pleasure of going to this rehab for treatment. You are seen by a medical doctor and a psyc doctor immediately and detox is an absolute cake walk. I have detoxed several times and this was beyond easy and comfortable especially since I was coming off of opiates, benzos cocaine and alcohol. The facility is clean and the food is good with plenty of options 24/7. The staff there care about your recovery and will bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable. The are several different types of recovery offered including AA,NA, Refuge, Yoga, Meditation, Church, etc. The small groups are held every day and then you have one on ones and free time. If you cant get clean and have a good base after attending Pinelands then you don't want to get clean. Again, I was shocked at how easy withdrawing was there and how the patients, along with the staff, made this such a smooth comfortable experience for me. I smiled most of the time that I was there and have good friends that I stay in contact with. Thank you very much.
