About Aware Recovery Care

Aware Recovery Care is located in Bedford, New Hampshire. It’s a treatment center for alcohol and drug addictions. They generally focus on adults who need detox, medication assisted treatment, and support services in their homes.

Their detox program is called “virtual” and part of it is done online. A nurse will walk through your detox via telehealth, which can take about two hours. They’ll provide counseling and peer support while you remain comfortable at home. The nurse will check in with you on a daily basis. This program generally lasts five to seven days. Once you complete the ambulatory detox phase, you’ll transition into ongoing maintenance care through virtual visits.

Support services basically consist of care that you receive at home while you’re working on your recovery. They’ll provide nurses, social workers, and therapists to your door, either in person or via an online call. However, if you’re meeting through telehealth, you can attend your session from wherever while you’re out and about. You’ll work with therapists in group or individual settings and focus on your emotions, learning new skills, and sharing your experiences. Medical care services may be limited, but medications can be administered to help ease your withdrawal pains if need be so your cravings will lessen. These meds can include Suboxone and naltrexone. The typical program runs for 52 weeks.

I cannot say enough good about Aware Recovery Care going back to February 2023. My first involvement was with their In-Home Detox team consisting of RN Jenn Aguire and nurses Tabitha and Krystal who came to my home for at least seven straight days to get me detoxed. This was critical to me as at the time I was unwilling to enter in residence detox having had a negative experience in the past. I credit them with saving my life. Their kind and compassionate care showed me that there was indeed some hope for me going forward. Following detox Aware counselors Sam Hayes and Amber Gelinas continued home visits working very closely with me in keeping me on the road to sobriety. I also received monthly assessments by an RN and a session with a Psychiatrist. After six months my insurance lapsed but thankfully I was eligible to enter their Alumni Program consisting of multiple Zoom meetings during the week with Aware professionals. In addition they also host various events in different locations with other Alumni of the program. You always feel that Aware is right there with you every step of the way. I could carry on much longer but let me finish by saying that I consider the Aware professionals I have dealt with to be more than just counselors but as friends as well. I am welcome back in the lives of my children and most importantly my Grandchildren. On November 24 I will be collecting my Nine Month sobriety chip at my AA Home Group. I credit a great deal of my success on Aware Recovery.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Aware Recovery Car is characterized for providing in-home comprehensive alcohol and drug addiction treatment for those in need. They offer effective solution for those suffering from this condition, in the comfort, privacy and security of their own home.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients in addiction recovery often enroll in inpatient rehabs to receive intensive, hands-on, highly supervised treatment. These programs are generally designed for clients exiting detox and those who are at an increased risk of relapse. Clients reside at the treatment center and engage in multiple psychotherapeutic sessions each week. Inpatient addiction counseling often includes individual, group, and family therapy. Education and life skills training are also often prioritized to promote sustained sobriety. Some inpatient rehabs include holistic therapies, such as massage and animal therapy.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Treatment provided at drug rehab in New Hampshire prepares individuals to handle life stressors without using substances. Participants get the tools and support they need to maintain lifelong recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in New Hampshire involves several steps to healing. The therapist will first help you identify stressful conditions currently in your life. You'll then identify your thoughts and beliefs about these challenges. Next, you'll identify inaccurate thoughts, and lastly you'll change those thought patterns, which will lead to changed behavior.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

People experience long term benefits from group therapy sessions that build a strong support network and create lasting connections that you can use throughout your recovery efforts. Building relationships within a group therapy environment helps enhance your social skills and reduce your stress levels, all contributing to promoting sobriety.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

In May of 2022 I went to a recovery treatment center for alcohol detox. When I left the detox facility it was strongly recommended that I continue on with some sort of a program. I spoke to a representative from aware and I learned about what they were all about. It seemed like a good idea at the time.I was to meet with a nurse and clinical staff 2 times per week for a year. They didn t seem to match me up with people who had like experiences or issues. They also pushed the Vivitrol shot vs. daily naltrexone. A trained member of their clinical staff was to administer the shot.I was given the shot by 2 ladies that didn t seem all that confident about what they were doing. She claimed she didn t bring gloves, and when I offered her a pair she said I m more comfortable without. This should have been my cue to send them away. However after 45 minutes of these girls trying to mix the powder with the liquid and then switching out needle for a 1 to a 2 they finally administered the shot.11 days post injection I called the nurse bc something felt off. I was told this is Normal. Again at day15 post injection I called again bc now I was feeling nauseous and the injection sight was swollen. Again this is normal. Well around day 18 I was running a 102.9 fever, was vomiting, confused and I went to the emergency room where I was admitted into the hospital for 4 days hooked up to IV antibiotics. My body had been fighting off a terrible infection for 2 weeks I was in a septic state. 10 days later I m still in pain and on hi test antibiotics at home. I missed over 9 days of work due to the lack of professionalism in these girls they claimWere trained in administration of Vivitrol shot.I would not trust them. I hope they don t make this same mistake twice.Currently we are working with a medical malpractice lawyer in an effort to make this right.Trust your gut as I wish I had.

I am a licensed counselor who works with AWARE on a mutual referral basis and I absolutely love them. If they are the appropriate level of care, they are the only place I send clients to as they have a well-rounded program that deals with all areas of life. I love that it s a year long program which actually gives people a solid foundation for recovery. The worst review I have had from a client was neutral feelings about the program which is rare. Usually clients report positive experiences in the program & find it helpful. So far they have made sure I was a good fit for clients they send me and if I m not, we find someone else.

I had the best support from my counselor. She was a GEM. First rate. Lisa M was a dream for all aspects of recovery. Helped save my life. Her real world experience was useful. She combined kindness, compassion, understanding and a little tabasco get over myself attitude when needed. Very helpful. I miss her. Nutritionist advice was awesome also. My first care was helpful. some was not 1st rate..but not horrible. Program is very expensive, glad the insurance paid for most of it. Overall pretty positive experience. AA and AWARE go well together. The Family care portion was not taken up by my family - wife or 18 year old daughter They could have used the help. But Nada good happened. Do not think AWARE was helpful at all on the family front? Who's fault? Maybe wrong question. Honest truth, they where totally ineffective on that front.

I love Aware Recovery, we are so lucky to have this kinds of options for our loved ones. The year long continuum treatment program is exactly what is needed. Getting out of treatment after 21-30 days and expect them to "get it " is not working... they need the supportive services, Aware Recovery is truly vested in providing in all areas . They are able to provide individual treatment plans, based on needs. Kudos to Aware!!!
