About Terros Health – 27th Avenue Health Center – Primary Care

Terros Health on 27th Avenue is a nonprofit medical facility providing behavioral health and substance abuse treatment. They provide clients of all ages with intensive outpatient, outpatient, and medication assisted treatment (MAT) services. Terros Health also provides integrated primary care services. They are located in Phoenix, Arizona.

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a high intensity day treatment program that takes place in groups of 8 to 12 clients. Meetings are available day and night, with clients meeting three times each week for three hour sessions. Services offered include individual and group therapy, dialectical (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (DBT), experiential therapy, life skill development, and an introduction to the 12 Steps program.
The supportive outpatient program is less intensive than IOP and is designed for clients who need relapse support. It features 2 sessions a week. Therapy focuses on life skill development and returning to daily living.
MAT is the use of specific medications alongside traditional therapy to treat opioid addiction. MAT is typically used as part of outpatient treatment.
Terros Health accepts most major insurance plans, which may include ComPsych, Magellan, United Healthcare, Ambetter, and HCSC. Out of network benefits may vary, so clients are advised to confirm coverage with their plan.

Terros is pretty bad. I wonder how may people relapse because some Terros staff can be inept. One of their MAT staffers suggested narcan be taken home in case of relapse, pathetic to give that message to someone trying to free themselves from addiction. It seems Terros helps people plan for an inevitable relapse, pathetic. I wish there was someone intelligent AND caring who could hear some experiences Terros staff gives to those trying to be sober. Some staffers are caring, but some in critical positions don't care or if they do, they don't show they care. When Terros messed up a prescription refill, it caused major issues but luckily we avoided a relapse due to withdrawals. I sure hope our interactions improve. I sure hope someone on the executive team or board sees this because we would discuss our experiences thus far. Use Terros with caution. We are researching an online option called Bicycle Health in case we continue getting a message that Terros expects a relapse in our case. I wanted and expected better from Terros.

Accepted Insurance

Terros Health – 27th Avenue Health Center – Primary Care works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. The Intensive Outpatient Program gives patients the chance to participate in a structured treatment plan part-time while they transition back to home and work or other responsibilities.
aftercare iconAftercare
12-step icon12-Step
Many addiction recovery centers base their treatment modalities on the 12 step program model, and those in treatment often transition to community-based programs. These programs can also be effective for clients who choose not to enter rehab. Traditionally, 12 step meetings are designed to provide intensive peer support whenever it is needed. In addition to group meetings and peer sponsorship, participants "work the steps" to achieve recovery through a systematic healing of the mind, body, and spirit.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

I ve been enrolled with terros for over two years, ever since my release from prison after serving a 12 and a half year sentence. I was enrolled in many programs and every instructor I had really went out of their way to help me. The staff is always super friendly and very helpful. I ve been in personal therapy now for almost a year and have had the same therapist the whole time. My therapist, Dan the man!, is just one of the incredibly caring people who have genuinely cared about my journey and my mental health issues. It s not just the knowledge he has in this area but his heart working with that knowledge that helped MAKE me want to change and try harder. Thank you to everyone there!

The worst thing I could do is seek psychological help for my 15 year old daughter in this place! Doctor's Jacob is inept!! that I just humored my daughter and never helped her! I only made her feel worse to continue feeling like a victim of any situation in life! It was like having a puppy licking her wound! I really wish that anyone who calls themselves a mental health doctor And lick his client's wound, he better go to hell! He will help better there!

I just want to say that the front office staff and group counselor have been nothing but professional, personable and prompt. However, the employee known as Dr T. is clearly the Affirmative Action employee over there. She's rude, obnoxious, insulting and lazy. Typical, her solution is to shove a pill down your throat via a video call. At first I thought it was me until I read reviews going back year's. I now know that I was correct in my assessment that she is a crack pot and the doctor needs to see a doctor

I had my couple counseling sessions at this place, everything seemed fine until I showed up to my third appointment was told it was canceled, I did not receive any sort of notification, I proceed to make another appointment for the following week, I called 2 days prior to my appointment to assure everything was still on track, I get to the facility and surprise my appointment had been canceled again.... I was told I would get a call back to reschedule, again Noone called me. So now 3 weeks I call to figure out what is going on and I was told I would get a call from someone since the supervisors where in meetings and my therapist is nowhere to be found.I won't hold my breath on this
