Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive a full continuum of care while continuing to live at home. They're often ideal for clients who are stepping down from inpatient care but some clients may prefer to transition into outpatient treatment immediately after completing detox. Many outpatient facilities also offer ambulatory medical detox for low-risk clients. Outpatient treatment generally includes psychotherapy and life skills training. Clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

inpatient iconInpatient Rehab

Clients often enter inpatient rehab following detox, but they may also enroll during early recovery or at an increased risk of relapse. Inpatient rehabs provide housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision, allowing clients to focus exclusively on their recovery in a highly structured and supportive environment. Clients typically receive multiple individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions weekly. Many programs also offer extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training. Integrative inpatient rehabs provide holistic therapies as well.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients in a rehab aftercare program have typically completed detox and intensive inpatient and are medically stable. These programs are designed to address addiction recovery as a life-long process. Outpatient counseling and recovery education are typically categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive support after being discharged from formal outpatient treatment. Case managers and recovery teams facilitate clients' access to peer coaching, career counseling, 12 step program induction, and related services.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Most experts in couples therapy are trained in several modes of treatment. This allows your therapist to draw from various techniques to personalize your therapy for your needs. This may include cognitive, emotional, and behavioral methods, which are all designed to help you strengthen your relationship.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Building life skills allows you to demolish negative patterns of behavior and build new, healthy patterns. By building new thought processes, coping strategies, and behaviors, you establish a solid foundation for recovery.

recreational-therapy iconRecreational Therapy

Recreational therapy is a dynamic approach to addiction treatment in New Jersey. It integrates activities like music therapy, team sports, and gardening so you have a therapeutic outlet for your emotions and stress. This improves your physical and mental health and helps you develop new skills to support a sober lifestyle.

art-brush iconCreative Arts Therapy

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

It pains me to have to write this review, In March my 18 year old daughter admitted herself , without consultation from My wife and I. My daughter was told she had to pay 1000.00 to meet her deductible. My daughter payed. My daughter only stayed 4 to 5 hrs tops - and I was promised 500.00 1/2 of what my daughter payed. It is so sad to say - I have been getting the runaround , being told first - they could not refund to my daughters card , then They said they will cut me a check, never received teh check. I called back over 3 weeks agao - and I was told they were sorry and cutting me a check that they never did. I was told it will take like two weeks. I called back today - I cant even get teh gentlemen on teh phone to talk to me. Next step is my laywer - here they were suppose to help my daughter - instead they helped her by taking her savings... CROOKS!!! Watch your back!

Sunrise Stirling NJ. It s a mixed bag. This was my second admission in a couple years. Everything was positive for the first 4 days out of my 5 day stay. The general day to day staff (nurses, tech s and even the housekeeping crew) was very friendly and gave me the respect and treatment that made me feel like I was in the best facility for my needs. It felt a bit professionally loose feeling. But regardless the staff eventually provided what I needed to want to stay. The tech s were also hit or miss. There is a massive employee turnover with the techs . (A couple employees confirmed it. Told me the stories) So most of that staff felt like they were learning while on the job. Some were 20yrs old to late 20 s Nothing wrong with being young. But I still felt that they were thrown in to the deep end of the pool. There were a lot of blank faces when basic questions were asked.I have to call it OUT!.Sunrise confiscates your phones and money/wallets/purses/watch or anything they deem dangerous or detrimental to your treatment. Two staff members (different departments) told me Sunrise will let you keep your phone for an extra $1000 (no typo) day but they can only use it in a private room. I found this out when I passed by a room with a patient on his phone. And again walking down the hall seeing a woman on a cell phone. The man actually was scolded in the cafeteria because he had his phone with him. I felt like it was supposed to be kept a close secret not to offend anyone without $1000.So. It really stunk when you bonded with a nurse they were replaced the next day. Nurses were funny. Personable. Really great. The Nurse Practitioner in charge of meds did not spend enough time with me (or anyone I spoke with) discussing medications. Spoke to me for less than 1 minute and he made med and dosage decisions. I only saw him once in 5 days. That s nuts to me. Feels like he just floats between facilities. Felt like that s standard practice.Than the councilors. Totally random assignments. You can get a great one. Or an unqualified (with a degree I think) one (IMO) with what feels like a god complex. Starts with Z and ends with a yak. This is one of few councilors that really does not understand addiction (in my opinion). I think he read a lot about it. But his experiences in addiction are all theoretical. In 5 days I spent less than a total of 60-70min but he thought he had me pegged and was totally condescending and flat out rude to me. When Z held a group meeting patients were literally flat out head on the table asleep. Z is a fluke at Sunrise. The other councilors were upbeat and enthusiastic about the message of sobriety . I believe Z would fit perfectly as a high school disciplinarian or vice principal. Not a counselor. Again this my my opinion and experience. And I m not saying that as an insult. It s just a better fit.I do have a axe to grind (on my end of 4th to 5th day) on the compartmentalization of the staffing. One knows anything about what the other is doing. There was a ton of I don t know. Ask someone else . Especially when I was being discharged. It was unreal. Sunrise has provided transportation to and FROM their facility 3 times in my family in the last 4 years. My randomly assigned councilor (Z) told me Sunrise would NOT be providing me with transportation home. Frankly you are going back to a toxic environment. And we will not provide you with transportation. In a small amount of time Z decided to basically strand me. With no recommendations of where I should go. We had a back and forth with other councilors in the vicinity. Other councilors wouldn t speak up. After I walked away 2 councilors spoke to me in private and told me they did not agree with Z but there s nothing they can do without undermining him.I did ask Z if he d give me a ride home. See it for himself. He declined. $70 Uber later and I m home. Great first 4 1/2 days even with the things I criticized. Hope you made it through the review!

Hello Mark, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Sunrise Detox Stirling. We appreciate your feedback and value your opinion. We are glad that most of our staff provided you with a positive and respectful experience. However, we are sorry to hear about your concerns regarding the turnover of our "tech" staff and their knowledge level. We are addressing these issues internally to provide better employee training and support. Regarding confiscating personal belongings, including phones, wallets, and purses, we understand this policy can be inconvenient. It is in place to ensure the safety and effectiveness of our treatment programs. We appreciate your feedback regarding the Nurse Practitioner and the counselors. We will consider your comments and work towards improving our medication discussions and counselor assignments. To discuss issues regarding "Z," call us at 888-443-3869 so we can look into this further. We wish you nothing but the best moving forward.

mostly great staff. nurses at the desk are great. the nurse practitioners in charge of meds totally dont spend any time with you discussing medications. I got about two minutes with mine and unfortunately they combined gabapentin and lyrica in my system which made me extremely sick and suicidal for weeks and weeks after leaving this place and led to me relapsing. so it defeated the whole effort before we even began.
