About Serenity Atlas Counseling

The outpatient program offers individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, psychological evaluations, relapse-prevention services, domestic violence intervention services, and DUI assessments. Each person receives a personalized treatment plan and has the opportunity to work closely with their counselor to address issues related to their circumstances. If it is determined that a more intensive level of care is needed, clients may be referred to a treatment center that can offer partial hospitalization services, inpatient treatment, or residential treatment. Outpatient services also support individuals in becoming involved in self-help groups or support groups that will help them connect to peers going through similar issues.

Serenity Counseling Services accepts most insurance plans, including Amerigroup, Magellan, ComPsych, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Brightstar Health, Ambetter, Humana, and more. Out of network benefits may vary, so it is important to verify coverage with your provider prior to starting treatment.

This is nothing more than a cash mill. They delete unsavory feedback. If your going to an establishment like this where the owner works there you can see the huge red flag, they're in business to make money. They went as far to commit perjury on the stand in my custody hearings and I still became custodial parent. If your reading any good feedback about them then they are personal aquaintances. Stay far away.

We take all feedback seriously, as our goal is to provide the highest level of care and professionalism to every individual we serve. It s disappointing to hear these claims, as they do not reflect the integrity and ethics we uphold at Serenity Atlas Counseling. While we understand that legal proceedings can be emotional and complex, we want to assure current and potential clients that our practice strictly adheres to ethical standards, and we never engage in dishonest behavior. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, we are open to a respectful and constructive conversation. Please feel free to contact us directly. Thank you

Accepted Insurance

Serenity Atlas Counseling works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Effective drug rehab in Washington integrates care for the whole person, offering comprehensive solutions to addiction. Treatment methods address mental, physical, and relational aspects of substance abuse.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Accreditations

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Established in 1992 by congress, SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on American's communities.

SAMHSA Listed: Yes

State Licenses are permits issued by government agencies that allow rehab organizations to conduct business legally within a certain geographical area. Typically, the kind of program a rehab facility offers, along with its physical location, determines which licenses are required to operate legally.

UA is very fequent... $50 everytime, times in 10 days... who has money for treatment itself and random UAs? On top of that owner not friendly, maybe only towards me

Response from the owner2 weeks ago
Thank you for your feedback. At Serenity Atlas Counseling, we strive to provide services that are accessible and fairly priced. Our UA rates are among the most affordable in the area, and we structure our testing requirements to align with program needs and state guidelines. We understand that treatment costs can feel overwhelming at times, and we are happy to discuss flexible options to help ease the financial burden where possible.

Do not go here! They will throw the book at you for treatment, in my opinion they just want money. I got a court ordered assessment here and their recommendation was waay over the top, extremely excessive. I went somewhere else for a second opinion which is my right and their recommendation was third the time. If your looking for a fair assessment, don t go here!

Awesome agency, would recommend to anyone needing it. The staff is incredible and is accodating to circumstances. They also hold everyone to a high standard, which makes a difference and keeps you, as the patient accountable. The material learned is something I will certainly use in the future. If there were more stars, I would give them. I have been to multiple treatment agencies, and this one is the best.

This place is awesome. If you re looking for an outpatient program in South King County or Pierce County come here. The owners Karen and Joseph are very patient and can put up with a lot! All of the staff is very nice. They even have peer support meetings here so you don t need to attend any other outside meetings like AA or NA unless you want to. It s non-12 step based here so you ll have your thinking challenged in a variety of ways and it is never boring. Highly recommended!!!

In response to the review left by N. Fallon. Serenity Counseling Services (located in Fife, WA) has been operating for over 38 years in Pierce County and has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. ALL our services are accepted by ALL the courts in Washington State. We are licensed and certified through the Washington State Department of Health and the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. We are also one of the largest privately-owned agencies in Pierce County. Are you sure you came to our agency and not one of the many agencies that have Serenity as a part of their business name?
