Overall the hospital is great especially their ER, no long wait and the doctors taking care of my father are excellent but the nurse and the front desk clerk is another story. How can you have a patient 87 years old just finding out cancer had spread all over his body and you are retristing visitors to 2 and stated it been that way since covid. Hello covid pandemic over and covid is apart of us now. I brought my 16 years old to see her grandfather only to be told by the clerk at the desk stated no visitors under 18 years allowed, and I can go up and leave her sitting in the lobby and come back. Oh really its ok for a minor to sit in the lobby by herself but not ok for her to go up and vistor her grandfather! Next disappointment, Saturday 11/23/24 was his first day being admitted, his nurse Shirley on unit 5300 didn't make sure he got breakfast or lunch. My mom got to the hospital after 1pm and notice that. Again he is 87, fall risk, weak and cancer that spread throughout his spine. That got sorted of and he got lunch, the nurse never came to the room for the rest of her shift to check my farher since she went there after 1pm. She showed up at 7pm when she was giving report to the incoming nurse. This i know for a fact because i got there after 3pm and left after 8pm. Now sunday 11/24/24 the same nurse Shirley came in hung his IV in the morning and gave pain medication never checked back to see if his pain was relieved or if he need assistance to the bathroom. We got there after 12pm and he was in excruciating pain, i went looking for her and the charge nurse paged her. When she got to the room and saw 4 of us she stated " it too many people in the room, and we have to leave". My sister told her the charge nurse ok it and because he had no roommate. Instead of tending to my father that was her focus. She stated I'll go talk to the charge nurse myself and stormed out the room not doing what she's supposed to do for my father. I so disappointed and if thats the focus and priority at the hospital instead of patient care, no good.

My daughter spent 5 days here in the pediatric unit. First we arrived at the ER. Within 10-15 minutes we were already in a room being examined. About 2 hours later she was moved to the pediatric unit. The nurses, doctors, security guards, art therapist, music therapist, child play therapist, just everyone was so sweet and kind. My daughter had the most amazing nurses! Thank you all so much for taking care of my daughter! The pediatric ENT team here was amazing!! Thank god for the playroom or else my daughter would've just been watching tv all day. On the first day they even gave her a toy she's obsessed with!I loved my daughters nurses Bianca, Bonnie, Cheryl, Jose, Stephanie, Jess (sorry if I forgot anyone!).. they were all so sweet and kind. They were fantastic. We were here 5 days and the pediatric team constantly made sure my daughter was being checked up on and distracted with fun things. My daughter actually said the words "I love this hospital, i'm having fun" despite her having medical problems. This was my first time here and I was really impressed! Thank you so much to the pediatric doctors and nurses and everything they do, I know it makes such a difference to every baby, toddler, child, and teenager who comes through there. From the art therapy, to the therapy dog they had one day, to music therapy- it truly makes a big difference in the patients day-to-day. I know it did for my daughter and I watched how hard they tried to make every patient happy.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients often enter inpatient rehab following detox, but they may also enroll during early recovery or at an increased risk of relapse. Inpatient rehabs provide housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision, allowing clients to focus exclusively on their recovery in a highly structured and supportive environment. Clients typically receive multiple individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions weekly. Many programs also offer extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training. Integrative inpatient rehabs provide holistic therapies as well.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients in a rehab aftercare program have typically completed detox and intensive inpatient and are medically stable. These programs are designed to address addiction recovery as a life-long process. Outpatient counseling and recovery education are typically categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive support after being discharged from formal outpatient treatment. Case managers and recovery teams facilitate clients' access to peer coaching, career counseling, 12 step program induction, and related services.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in New Jersey provides a setting where you can withdraw from alcohol or drugs under close monitoring of experienced medical staff. These trained professionals can intervene at any time if needed. They can prescribe medications to reduce cravings and physical discomfort. Mental health professionals are also available to address any emotional and psychological challenges you experience as you begin your recovery journey.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Building life skills allows you to demolish negative patterns of behavior and build new, healthy patterns. By building new thought processes, coping strategies, and behaviors, you establish a solid foundation for recovery.

When I arrived at the facility, the receptionist escorted me back to room 15, I did not blatantly walk into anywhere without registering. Obviously if this was true, no one would even know my name or that I had surgery that day. after the coordinator told me to change in to the dress, she did come back to say she made a mistake. A new nurse came in and started asking about the insurance, which startled me, because it should've already been in the system. I told her it's fine, I will go back downstairs, while im downstairs registering, in comes the surgical team upset that im down stair registering. How Ironic?! After making it back upstairs with my wristband, there's another set of 3 nurses just waiting in the room. As im on a call, 1 nurses starts talking to me while im on the call, and I advised her of hw mannerless that was. I told her I couldn't talk to 2 nurses and finish up my call all at the same time.Dr. rizzo enters the room and DEMANDS me to sit down, like im not a patient, but the SLAVE ,that he made as a recent purchase. I advised him id rather stand and then he states he feels uncomfortable about doing the surgery if a physical person can't be there, which I totally understand. I told him thats fine, and then gathered my belongings and left. With that piece of information already in place, I didnt find it feasible enough to stay in a room with 10 people, once the Dr. is basically saying he has to cancel because the policy isn't being followed. I didnt have any issues with that. Th nurse, however, said he didnt know about the medical transport, and that she would tell him. All the while I had already made up my mind to not be seen there. Due to the lack of professionalism on his end and his staff. I felt as though they really wanted to blame me so bad for this and just couldn't admit they lacked communication. Yea! Literally was the worst day of my life. Im glad I dodged a bullet, He then proceeds to find me in the hallway and expressed his emotions towards me and that he wasn't comfortable. Meanwhile, im the patient, and no one is consoling me or asking me about how I felt. The narrative listed below is only 1 side of the story, not 2 sides. FOR THE RECORD, I OBIOMA OKORO, WAS THE ONE THAT CHOSE TO FIND A NEW DOCTOR DUE TO THE MANY OBSTACLES AND CHALLENGES GOING ON. NOT THEM!__________________________________________________________The patient entered the hospital and according to the nurses report and same-day surgery, she showed up to same-day surgery and placed herself in her room and began to get and dressed into a gown. When they spoke to her and found out who she was and why she was there, it became clear that she did not go to hospital registration before coming up to this area. The nurses explained to her that she needs to register for the procedure properly and that she would have to go back downstairs and do so. She became belligerent and difficult and argumentative with the nursing staff. She eventually relented and went down to the registration desk. At the registration desk she was refusing to show her ID or her insurance card stating that she did not want her personal information "out there". That finally got resolved as well. I was notified of the events and the nurses stated that through the entire presurgical process she was argumentative and belligerent. She would not answer questions. They had a difficult time gaining any type of history from her. I then came to the same-day surgery holding area to check her in for surgery. At this point, it became clear that there was confusion regarding her ride home. She was having general anesthesia and I explained to her that she needs to have a person that can take her home who was responsible for her and is not an Uber or taxi type situation. She immediately stated that "okay I understand I
