About Parkridge Valley Adult & Senior Campus

Parkridge Health Care – Adult and Senior Behavioral Health Care is a private mental health treatment center based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Anyone 18 years or older can participate in their partial hospitalization program and intensive outpatient program.

Both partial hospitalization and outpatient care allow you to attend treatment without having to stay in a hospital or clinical residence. While both are considered intensive forms of care, partial hospitalization is the more intensive level of the two. Staff can assess your needs to determine which level of care is right for your situation.

The aspect of this facility’s programs I like the most is the option of collaboration. It’s not uncommon for a treatment program to invite your family to participate, but here they extend the invitation to all areas of your support network. This can include friends and other support programs and groups you participate in.

Having a strong support network is vital to long term recovery, and their involvement in your treatment can help strengthen them as well. If you want to have those most important to you involved in your treatment process, this might be a good program for you.

Accepted Insurance

Parkridge Valley Adult & Senior Campus works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehabs are designed principally for clients who require intensive supervision and support, including clients who have just completed detox, clients in early recovery, and clients at an elevated risk of relapse. Inpatient treatment helps clients stabilize following detox and prepares them to step-down into outpatient and/or community-based care. Clients reside at the facility for the duration of their program and engage in extensive addiction counseling and education. Many programs also offer evidence-based complementary therapies.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients receiving support in a rehab aftercare program typically have abstained from drugs or alcohol for a period of weeks or months and have completed high-level (often inpatient) treatment. Drug rehab aftercare is designed to support clients in maintaining their sobriety as they re-engage with their ordinary lives at home, in the workplace, and in the community. Services are highly individualized and evolve with clients' changing needs, but generally include peer coaching and relapse prevention.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive outpatient option for those with moderate to severe addictions, allowing you to return home at the end of the day. It can be an alternative to hospitalization or used as a step-down option. PHP treatment requires a minimum of 20 hours of treatment per week for an average of 90 days. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment includes relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. PHP treatment is often covered by providers.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Typical cognitive behavioral therapy in Tennessee involves recognizing negative thinking and learning techniques to change that thinking and create new, positive behaviors. Strategies may include SMART goals, journaling, and situation exposure.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Men and women in Tennessee undergoing one on one individual therapy sessions focus on understanding their unique needs and challenges. They do this under the guidance of an experienced therapist who can help you identify and address addiction triggers as well as create personalized relapse prevention plans. This offers you a customized path to a successful recovery journey.

If you participate in motivational interviewing in Tennessee, your therapist will focus on four key strategies: open questions, affirmation, reflections, and summarizing. Rather than confront or warn you to change, the clinician will allow you to explore your own motivations and decide what changes you may need to make in your life.

While engaged in couples therapy in Tennessee, you'll learn how to trust, communicate, forgive, and manage emotions. Developing these skills can be beneficial at any time during the relationship, but they are particularly crucial when facing life challenges.

Family groups offer support by helping clients and family members increase their understanding of family dynamics and by allowing them to discuss the impact addiction has had on the family. It is very important that the clients have a willingness to stop their addiction. It is encouraged that family members be committed to participating in the recovery process.

Nothing more than a government funded pill farm. They dope and never focus on your mental health. The business of making money and not helping people is what drives this center.

I wish there was a - 5 stars!! Don t take your family members here. My son has been diagnosed with Schizophrenia with psychotic episodes, Bi-Polar disorder, manic depression and multiple personality disorder, he was at this hospital less than 3 days and Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim decided to send a letter to his insurance company stating he needs to stop getting Inpatient Psychiatric Hospitalization. He knows nothing about my son. Two days after leaving Parkridge clearly still in psychosis was given a certificate of need and placed in A MUCH BETTER PLACE Erlanger Behavioral Center. So if you don t want your family members insurance to get canceled after fighting an on going battle with mental illness PLEASE DON T SEND THEM TO PARKRIDGE!!! Now I have to fight to get my son s insurance back!!!

I was going through a tough time and they were there listening patiently. The nursing staff, the counselors were so kind and understanding. To be completely honest, I was saddened to leave. They are there when life hands you a basket of lemons. Before you leave, you ll be highly rewarded with the tools and knowledge to make a new start.

I could never sing enough praises for this hospital. Every staff member was kind, compassionate, helpful, and gentle. Debbie, Ron, Bonnie, Meggan, Sheila, James, Corinne, the night MH Tech (sorry I didn't ask your name), and anyone else on unit 100 thank you so much for creating such a safe and comfortable environment. You really went above and beyond the call to service. To the two art and music therapists, thank you both, wonderful work. Thoroughly enjoyed your sessions. Elaine, Andrea truly above and beyond work you did couldn't ask for better social workers. You made my transition in and out of the hospital so easy. Greg and Jake at intake you immediately eliminated any fears I had. Greg was honestly the light of the whole experience. Incredible. I could not be where I'm at on my healing journey without each and every one or you.The doctors/NP were all very kind and helpful as well but I only saw them for maybe 15 minutes total combined. But Dr. Oliver was fantastic discussing my treatment options and getting me settled into meds.

This hospital was a nightmare. Complete uninformed when it comes to trauma informed treatment. Sad that we are still so behind in mental health care. Unfortunately, this kind of terrible mistreatment of patients is very common in most Psychiatric hospitals, but that does not excuse this treatment. Very dehumanizing. Would not recommend this hospital.

I was a patient at Parkridge Valley a few months ago, and I was ready to leave a positive review because most of the staff were caring and professional. However, my experience with one mental health technician, Ilena, changed that. I overheard her making explicit and inappropriate comments about coworkers, which was completely unprofessional. Her attitude was consistently rude and mean-spirited, which is not what you expect in a mental health care setting. It's disappointing because the rest of the team is great, but Ilena's behavior left a negative impression on what was otherwise a good experience.

This was my first time visiting. I had an amazing experience here despite what led me to being admitted initially. After ending up in psychosis the staff was nothing but helpful, supportive, and caring. There was a very nice young black man who did my intake and reassured me things would be okay. The food was great. It s not as scary or taboo as people make it seem. It s a great place to get help when you need it. I felt safe the entire time I was inpatient. They made sure we had snacks and drinks in between mealtimes. Made sure meds were distributed on time. 10/10 experience. If needed, I will absolutely come back here.

Parkridge valley is a sad joke. People go there at the lowest point of their life for help and get their heads played with months later. I was there for 5 weeks. Had to leave because of MONEY. I paid them my portion of insurance. Then Insurance payed them their share. To my surprise I get a refund stating an over payment from Valley. . Now 4 months later I get a message I have a balance ??? REALLY. You refunded money I really didn t have to pay in the first place.and then because of your incompetence you come back to me for more money. $36k for 5 weeks is insane. Unfortunately any improvement I made at the facility is gone do to unnecessary harrasment for money. THEY AREN T THERE TO HELP. ITS A BUSINESS THAT PRACTICES UNSCRUPULOUS LOW HANDED TO SCREW INSURANCE COMPANIES AND INDIVIDUALS-OUT OF MONEY. do yourself a favor. Dont even think of going there for mental help. It s o JOKE.7/2/2024. Update. Valley appointed a therapist for me to see once a week. She has disappeared .. not returning calls or texts. Going over my bill I find bills sent to insurance for a doctor I never seen. Place is a rip off. There has to be a better mental health facility in the Chatt area.

Absolute waste of time! Apparently if you have enough alcohol in your system to not have freaking shakes and withdrawal symptoms you can t get admitted. My husband told them over and over that he had severe withdrawal symptoms, but they refused to admit him without seeing the symptoms themselves. What a joke.
