Different review- I previously posted how awesome my therapist is-I take that back. My therapist, from here, has been too concerned with ethics upon protecting herself- she forgot how to ethically terminate a client who has been working with her for 2+ years religiously. Due to this places med departments negligence and ignorance - my therapist and one of the few in my corner overall- terminated me without any notice or options to continue services- while I was inpatient -30 min before my set discharge date. I got escalated and had to spend more time there the grief of losing someone very important person in my life that sudden is a moment and day I will never forget.I was inpatient due to instability initially starting from medication complications. at inpatient, my inpatient team was trying to get intouch with my therapist and they didn t have much luck. My therapist also knew about the medication negligence and said if I went inpatient she would continue working with me upon discharge. My last appointment with a med provider from here she told me about how it s my last appointment with her and I then was transferred to a new provider, Nicole. new med provider doesn t even listen to her clients and thought what she thought was best, leading to my downfall then not answering when I experienced side effects too her errors. I was the one punished, so many ways, when trying to get help From here.Don t seek help here, no one deserves wondering why they weren t good enough to even get proper termination, nevermind help.

Figured I would leave a review, since I have contrasting experiences than a few of the others.Myself, and 2 of my kids have been coming here since I got custody. Where some had said my kids might need meds, this place opted to try and help. While we have all had to change clinicians, I have to say we have all had nothing but excellent experiences with everyone involved. When there was an issue, they handled it immediately and really worked with us to ensure that we were OK.Yes some of the clinicians are right out of college, but sometimes that is a good thing. For my daughter, that was perfect because she could identify. She was with an older, long term clinician and she didnt really click with her, and she didnt like going, we talked with the therapist and the front desk and everyone understood and helped her switch.I am very thankful for this place. Not sure what our family would look like without it.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Per session payment lets you pay for each treatment at the time of service. You may also pay for a certain number of sessions up front and then pay for more if needed. This format allows you to tailor the financial investment to your specific needs and avoid having a large lump sum payment due at the end of the treatment program.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) facilitate clients' sustained sobriety through high-level care aligned with their evolving needs. Clients engage in multiple treatment sessions per week, typically receiving between nine and 20 hours of outpatient care weekly. The frequency and intensity of treatment gradually decreases as clients stabilize. Many intensive outpatient rehabs offer a variety of services, including addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT). Evidence-based complementary therapies are also common.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer customized, wraparound support for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery. Many clients enroll in drug rehab immediately after completing intensive inpatient or residential care. Services encompass outpatient treatment but often extend long beyond the completion of a formal recovery program and typically include a variety of medical, mental health, and social service programs. Peer coaching, relapse prevention, 12 step program induction, and related services are commonly available.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in Massachusetts provides friends and family the opportunity to share how a person's substance use has caused problems in their lives. The goal of the intervention is to encourage the person to get the treatment they need. Most rehab facilities offer intervention services that can help families prepare for the intervention and facilitate entry into treatment if the person agrees to get help.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Addiction is a highly complex problem, and drug rehab in Massachusetts is often necessary to address it. These programs treat physical, mental, and relational issues that are involved. Treatment empowers individuals to manage these issues without the use of drugs.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

If you find it difficult to put thoughts and feelings into words, creative arts therapy in Massachusetts might be a good treatment method for you. Through art, music, and other expressive activities, this therapy allows you to explore and convey thoughts and emotions in a safe, creative space.

Doctors refused to see me due to mental health issues and decided I need better care. Pretty sure that s exactly what their job is supposed to be, helping those with mental health issues, but I guess not. If you want to see them, make sure you only have depression and anxiety (but not major) anything else is too scary.

My problems happened a year ago today. Took me all this time to leave the review.I had been going here since April 4th 2016 trying to get medication for my anxiety and panic attack disorder. It's mandatory you have to see a talk therapist 3 times before you see the medication doctor. I jumped their hoops. I went over 8 times since April 4th. After my 3rd visit they told me that the medication doctor was full and was not accepting new patients until July but I would have to keep seeing the therapist until that time. They told me a YEAR AGO today the medication doctor is not allowing me into the "medication clinic" and they would NOT give me a reason. The office manager says because they are a private facility they are not required to give me a reason. They waited 4 months to tell me this information. 4 months of counseling that I did NOT need. All that office visit money, wheelchair transport van money to get there, being accompanied by a Home Health Aide money. Your tax dollars hard at work.I had been there 2 years before this. Every time I would meet with the med doctor he would ask if I was depressed at all. My answer was always NO. I had asked for a copy of my medical records and I looked at all the doctors notes. On every visit page he wrote down along the lines that patient said she was very depressed. On every visit page he lied. Those are perm med records and he lied on every single one. I wouldn't have known it if I hadn't asked for the records. I guess he needed to justify why he was prescribing what he was at the time. I was wrongly diagnosed as being bi-polar and this office did NOT catch that. I knew I was not bi-polar so I never took the meds and flushed em down the toilet. That could have changed the chemistry of my brain. All I needed was anxiety meds.If you work or have a real life other than being mentally unstable you will find it difficult using this office. Before you leave the office they will schedule an appointment for you. If you say you will be on vacation or you have another doctors appointment and need another day the BIG lady at the front desk freaks out. We cant do that. You have to take this day. "Your gonna run out of meds". (but lady I'm flushing them I don't care...she had no idea I said this in my head) Like pulling teeth every single visit. Then with the wheel chair vans it has to be scheduled at a certain time. They are not big on accommodating you. Even if your disabled and have ADA laws behind you.No more pill mills for me. No more mandatory counseling either. A nurse will be coming to the home instead for me to scribe my meds. So much easier. Since I'm disabled I was able to sign up for One Care. Thank goodness. No more 2 appointments a month for panic meds ....every month for the rest of my life....no way. Glad I finally got out of that game.
