About Navos Mental Health and Wellness Center

Navos - Outpatient aims to offer a healing home for adults, young adults and children who are vulnerable to mental illness and substance use disorders (SUD). They have two locations in Burien, Washington, that offer outpatient behavioral and mental health treatment. They accept Medicaid and offer scheduled and walk in SUD and chemical dependency assessments for those on Medicaid.

The Navos Mental Health & Wellness Center King County Public Health Co. has adult outpatient behavioral health services and help with SUD. They also offer special programming and help with public housing, plus a pharmacy.

They take into account your physical health, relationships, living and financial situation while making an assessment for the care you need. You’ll meet with a therapist and a case manager, and, after that, you’ll meet with a nurse and a psychiatric provider to get a diagnostic evaluation. Then the care team will help you set goals and define what recovery looks like for you.

Navos Lake Burien provides infant, child, youth and family outpatient mental health services as well as program housing and specialty programming. They are a member of the Multicare Behavioral Health Network, and they have the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission. They’re state certified for SUD outpatient treatment programs. Please note they don’t provide SUD assessments for CPS.

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Couples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Family Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

I am a living witness of how incompetence is present even in places that are suppose to help people in need, they really don't know how delicate my issue is and of course didn't treat me in the best way.

I went there for a while 2018 and 2019 and their counselors for pathetic personally I question whether or not they even had psychology training they never offered a single bit of advice or suggestions how to deal with my problems and every 6 months my counselor would leave and they tell me I had to meet a new counselor the last counselor not only did the offer any advice he looked at me said I think you're just dissatisfied with life then covid-19 happened and he left they told me I had to talk to someone that I never heard of or met on the phone for counseling couldn't do that because that's part of my problem they said well then there's nothing we can do for you and shortly after that they gave out their patient list the third party survey Company so they could call us over and over and harasses trying to get us to tell them how great navos is. Which is both unethical unbelievably unrealistically unethical and a totally illegal violation of patient confidentiality which says they're not allowed to tell anybody anything about you even whether or not you are a patient without Express written signed authorization from patient which they did not have suggestion is don't go to Navas because their counselors are terrible you can't even see an actual psychiatrist except for them to prescribe medication they're completely and totally unethical they will not eat your information confidential top of that they shared a building with Public Health and when I tried to go see my doctor they stopped insisted that I had to tell them who my doctor was who I am and why I'm seeing a doctor and when I refuse they seek their giant Samoan security guard on me and refuse to allow me to go see my doctor which is also unethical and illegal because novice not connected to Public Health they simply shared building and they have absolutely no right to even ask why I see a doctor for anything else regarding me and my doctor and my personal business with my doctor don't go there system is set up just to keep their patients coming in Forever so they can get paid by your insurance the government they don't give a crap about their patients for solving their patients problems they're unethical your information is not safe with them they're psychiat rist and even evaluating he just asked me if I wanted medication what medication I want I mean I'm not a doctor or anything but I don't think that's how it's supposed to work like I said don't go there I would give them minus five stars if I could have you'd be better off getting your counseling from a drunken monkey place should be shut down in their license and the licenses of their employees should be permanently revoked

If I could leave a 0 star I would. I'm so sick of how this place treats my son. I treated me like a pos so that's why I left. My son is constantly get switched medication doctors and counselors. He gets comfortable with someone then all of a sudden they leave. They also haven't given 3months worth of meds like they were and claim they forgot .. then today we were on telehealth for 30min only to be told his app was 1010 and I know it was at 11... this is the 3rd time they've don't this to us. And I'm pissed and sick of them doing this. Now my son will be out of meds for 3 weeks by the time he goes for the appointment next week. I'm so sick of this place they need to do better period

I have used this office for years, attempting to get my medications right and I still dont have what I came for. First of all let's start with the fact that I was supposed to be seen by a psychiatrist. I, in fact, was not assigned one. They instead assigned a nurse practitioner to me without the credentials I felt like she needed to have to diagnose my mental health disorders if any her name is diane bunch and I would not reccomend being seen by her. My reason being that she the INSISTED on increasing a medication that I was already having horrible side effects to which could have lead to permanent damage on myself. She knows I need a medication and is reluctant to give it to me and when I tell her it is absolutely necessary. She tries to give me a dose that is not enough for the severity of the condition that I am explaining to her which leaves me in a position to suffer until I had to seek out mental health care from a different reputable doctor. This has caused me much frustration. If it is at all possible to get mental healthcare elsewhere, do so.

One issue I ve had is difficulty getting a new case manager. One time I waited 3 months to get a new case manager. Another time I waited 4 months.Another issue I ve had is not getting emails/phone calls returned from case managers. As of now I have a case manager on leave, and I have no idea when I ll see this case manager again.I suggest looking at other options for mental health care instead of here.

My therapist accused me of trying to dodge meetings when the program for online therapy wouldn t work, he scoffed at me, ignored everything I said and sent him trying to get help, but eventually fixed the problem albeit VERY unprofessionally (argued and treated me like I was a habitual liar). After 3 half wasted sessions (due to going similarly) It felt like I was talking to a random dude, not a licensed professional. I tried to communicate with him about ceasing my current program to go with another company and he ghosted me and my guardian. No texts, no calls, even avoided our planned meeting. Called in and was met with a guy who knew nothing except what I already knew (meeting time) and couldn t contact my therapist OR his supervisor.Update: Psychologist I had scheduled was extremely nice, so it s good to know that their staff aren t all frustrating, when I did get ahold of people they were great at their jobs and helping me as well. The therapists supervisor was very professional, she could ve shown more sincerity but I can t complain. She gave me good options and was open about my reservation on making a decision immediately. Communication is a bit difficult since you get voicemail a lot, but the supervisor did call me back the next day after leaving one. Overall give it a shot, but voice your opinion if you feel like somethings not right, they will 100% help you as far as I m concerned.

Got a therapist there and it's my sons 4th appointment, its been less than mediocre, they haven't even spoken anything about my son yet.Therapist doesn't respond back, called for a supervisor to call back two times and no-one ever returned the call. Therapist spent first two appointments double checking our paperwork, the link for speaking online didn't work, in and on.

It is virtually impossible to reach anyone at Navos about patient care. I spent over three hours this morning trying to reach a care provider (or anyone in a leadership position who might assist me in doing so) about a client/patient/resident sent to our hospital ER; without any success. I was transfered between voicemail messages that someone was out of the office repeatedly. No one calls back fron this facility. The front desk is not able contact anyone with whom I can coordinate care. The Navos website gives no direct numbers to leadership or providers. It is inexcusably poor care to be unavailable to community/ hospital doctors trying to care for Navos clients/patients/residents; it is also obnoxious to send patients to a hospital for care without any coordination between Navos providers and the physicians from whom Navos is seeking care.

I went there today because their phone message says walk-ins welcome. Please talk to someone before you show up. I went there because my doctors office does not have behavioral health and they want me to find a psychiatrist for things I'm already diagnosed with. The lady at the front desk couldn't comprehend what I was saying when I said I had a referral and I didn't want to just blurt out my diagnosis. They then gave me a piece of paper with places I can try to figure out. Oh by the way, Sea Mar has a place in white center, navos AND Sea Mar Des Moines both didn't tell me about. I can't believe how irresponsible a mental health facility is when "helping" someone out.
