I had my first birthing experience Mary Washington s Labor and Delivery unit and I can truly say it was a great experience. My birth didn t go as I planned it but my team made me feel so supported and fully informed every step of the way. I ended up choosing to have a C-section after days of labor and hours of pushing and the on-call OB reassured me it was my choice which I definitely appreciated. I felt well taken care of the whole time. When I made it to the postpartum unit I was met by many wonderful nurses but the one that took care of me and made an impact was Tasha. She gave me tips and made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I couldn t recommend Mary Washington Hospital enough for any expecting mom!

The most worst hospital and emergency medical service I have ever experienced. The same way I took my husband in was the same way we were discharged home. No medication, nothing was done. A very bad and nasty hospital. If you want your love one to have good health, please DO NOT go to Mary Wash.

Apparently they charge $30 per signature to sign maternity leave paper work so that you can get paid while out on leave! Crazy.

Accepted Insurance

Mary Washington Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs offer community-based addiction treatment, enabling clients to remain in their homes while in recovery. Their levels of care typically include partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), standard outpatient, and sober living programming. Most outpatient facilities offer addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Integrative programs include evidence-based holistic therapies, such as meditation, music therapy, and massage. Facilities specializing in alcohol and/or opioid addiction may also provide medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy helps you understand and manage the emotional and physical responses that often follow witnessing or experiencing traumatic events. Using therapeutic interventions, your therapist works with you to reframe that experience, which in turn reduces your anxiety and helps you regain control over your life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I spent time at MW hospital recently and another local hospital about three months ago. The other hospital wanted to send me home even though I was in AFib... Also, the community with the nursing staff and doctors at that other hospital was really bad.... The time I was at MW hospital the staff from the nurses to the CA was great... The only issue I had was with the doctor that I first dealt with and he was the one tgat ordered my medication. He mad it a bit confusing. He didn't understand my needs completely... The doctor that was there after I was admitted she was great and made sure I understood everything that was to take place with my care. All I all the staff made sure I was care for and mad the stay bearable.... Thanks!

Terrible 5 hours , while my child continued to vomit and the fact that we were passed by 10 different patients is terrible!!!! 12am - 5am while my 3 year old child was vomiting and in pain. Funny enough, never thought I d see the day or be a victim. All the patients and CHILDREN who got addressed a room while we were there for hours and they had just arrived , were WHITE. I say as I see it. Disgusted on how this was handled. Now I will just have to wait 5 more hours and go visit my babies actual Doctor

I have an immediate family member who is hospitalized here currently in the cardiac care unit (3N), and just from their experiences as a patient and mine as a visitor, this hospital/unit needs to do better in how they treat their most vulnerable patients. The doctors here have treated my family member with superb care and respect. However, some of the nurses seem to have attitude or just don t know what they are doing. My family member should NOT have to wait an HOUR for someone to help them 1.) transfer in between units and 2.) get to the bathroom. Also, my family member hadn t been showered or cleaned in days, as well as getting their teeth brushed. It is inhumane.I notice patients calling the nurses and their bells going off for 10-15 minutes until they answer. I understand that this is a very active unit and they are most likely understaffed, but come on. Please do better. Our loved ones deserve over-the-top care and compassion. The only thing keeping me from rating this establishment 1-star are the doctors here that saved my family member s life and their bedside manner. Do better, MWH.

Nov 20th, 2024. Phone system total crap. Trying to get to appointment scheduling and their line keeps disconnecting. I was able to get operator twice and ask to be connected to a specific department then routed back to the same general appointment line. Dead. Leadership, Fix this!
