About Lighthouse Recovery – Silverton

Lighthouse Recovery is a drug treatment center in Dallas, Texas where you can get outpatient addiction treatment. They also have a sober residence. Their typical clients are young adult males but they also treat women.

If you decide to work with them you can expect to be spending the next year in various intensities of treatment. Most people might spend a month in their partial hospitalization program, three months in their intensive outpatient program and then another six to twelve months with a recovery coach.

You can combine their outpatient offerings with their sober living residence. The residences house a maximum of eight people each with two to a room. The staff to resident ratio is 1:3. Residents are required to attend several recovery meetings each week. There are meetings that are held in the house, but you can go to meetings anywhere in Dallas. They have transportation available. Most people spend six months to a year in residence.

Their most intensive program is the extended care treatment program. It’s suitable for people who have tried residential rehab a few times but still found themselves relapsing. With this program, you live in their sober residence while participating in the outpatient programs. You see your counselor for individual therapy weekly. They have a life skills program for people who need it.

They have outstanding reviews. At the time of this writing, 103 reviewers have given them an average rating of 4.9 stars on Google Reviews. Many family members of people who have attended the program have written reviews. They have talked about how treatment there turned their loved one’s substance use around.

They take commercial insurance and they try to be in network with many companies. You should check with your plan to verify that they are in your network. Insurance will usually cover the partial hospitalization program and the intensive outpatient program, but not the sober living residence or the recovery coaching.

Lighthouse was a blessing from the moment the owner Mike offered his time, understanding, patience and commitment to my son and our family. They have an incredible team approach and weekly follow ups to help the family understand and support each other. They went above and beyond to make sure my son was safe, accountable and healthy. We were unable to provide him with a car and getting to work, doctor appointments, meetings and gatherings was never an issue. When visiting, we were welcomed with open arms and still stay in touch. Also, we had a wedding during his treatment time and his case manager Michael flew home with him so he could feel safe and participate with the family. This week my son will be 1 year sober and getting him to Lighhouse was crucial to both his health and ours. He learned to be more respectful, responsible and most importantly to learn to live a healthier lifestyle. Thank you for your commitment and never giving up on him!!

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

What can you say to someone who has given you back your son? Thanks is not enough not even close! If you are reading these reviews, and you have a loved one dealing with addiction issues, you know it feels like this crazy, terrible, fear-fueled circus ride you are on, and even when you are begging for it to stop, it just keeps going! All the while, you love the person, but you feel helpless to help them.We felt we had lost our son to drugs about 8 years ago, so when we sat down in 2023 to talk to the team at Lighthouse, we were tired, devastated and fearful of our son s future. We did not know what to do, but the destruction of addiction had taken a terrible toll on our family. I had heard about Lighthouse from my son s doctor about 3 years earlier, and I had even called and talked to a friendly, young man at Lighthouse named Grant. He was amazing and helpful. But, my son was not ready to go. Grant gave me options and said to call him if I needed any other help.Fast forward 3 years. We tried to talk to him. We cried. We pleaded to stop the drugs. Finally, we told him he would have to move from our home. We offered rehab and said we were 110% behind recovery but would no longer be able to help him while he chose drugs. I felt my heart breaking! It was interesting to see how over the last eight years, he had lost jobs, friends and so much money over this drug. Now, no one was bailing him out and no friends were opening up their doors for him to come stay with them.History: Our son had graduated at the top of his class. He had taken Calculus and was in National Honor Society. He had been an active youth leader in our church! How could he have chosen to start smoking weed? And what started as a fun past time with friends, quickly spiraled downward into an all encompassing addiction that would take every dime, and every thought from him . It demanded everything from him.In April of 2023, our son hit a bottom, and my dear Uncle was able to talk to him, and he called us and said he would go to rehab. While at rehab, we gingerly started talking about sober living. At first it was a resounding no , but we told him we had looked at the top sober living homes in Dallas, and Lighthouse came out on top for us. We told him that everyone was kind and helpful.Lighthouse is amazing. A young man named Augie told us his story and the part about living in his truck was similar to our son s story. We also met Frankie who helped give us a tour of one of the homes. He answered questions. Grant was right there too! They offered hope! But the best is that our son then talked to Grant while in rehab, and he started considering it. He entered Lighthouse July 1, and he was there 10 months. He did the full program at Lighthouse! It was such a great program!Tears fill my eyes on this next part, he called me today on FaceTime to show me his Christmas tree, and the X-box he had purchased from a pawn shop! He has pawned so many gaming systems for drugs in the past, and now he had purchased one from a pawn store! By the way, while at Lighthouse, he saved and bought a car on his own (men at Lighthouse mentored him on finances). He got a good job while at Lighthouse! He is now living in a nice apartment, has a dog and a girlfriend. He has been at his job 14 months. And he was calling to invite his mom and dad to dinner! Like I said, Thank you is just not enough! The staff is incredible! Bryce and Frankie are so good with our son. They still mentor him. Steve mentored him and taught him how to handle his finances. Dr Keels is wise and insightful in the middle of it all, and we needed that! Mike Jones has assembled an all-star team that gives young men their lives back.We had to get creative with our finances to do this step. I want to be honest about that, but there are so many ways to get creative, and we just felt we had to give our son this shot .. worth every penny!I cannot recommend Lighthouse enough!! I know the pain of losing my son for years, and now getting him back! PRICELESS!! And I pray that for you too!

Our Lighthouse advocate, Frankie Gomez, kept us constantly informed about the status of our family member while in their sober living environment. He and his team s professional approach provided us with a friendly face we could contact with questions or concerns at any time, day or night. Being exhausted, distraught parents, we never imagined feeling so confident after each update about the holistic and personal approach Lighthouse provided. We have a lifetime friend in Frankie and would recommend his experienced group of lifesavers without reservation. We believe Lighthouse is very well named call them and see for yourself. They are an outliner among many other options.

Lighthouse was exactly the support my son needed as he embarked on the next phase of his recovery journey. The program provided a safe and highly structured environment, which was crucial for his healing. The comprehensive support he received from the staff was instrumental in building his confidence and equipping him with the necessary tools to navigate a sober life. He was able to engage in valuable therapeutic activities that focused on personal growth, all while surrounded by a community that fostered accountability and understanding. This nurturing atmosphere helped him gain the skills and resilience needed to face the challenges of sobriety with newfound strength and optimism. I want to express my gratitude to Grant, Bryce, Frankie, Brooke Keels, and Mike Jones for providing my son with this opportunity to heal.

Went to Lighthouse for Aylmer Buford Atkins III s, Amy Smith Atkins s, Teresa Diane Allison Mueller s, Reeves Crawford Atkins s, Charles Colvin Atkins s, Carter James Bodell s, Abby Leigh Loncar s, and so on s substance & mental health issues that are the exact polar opposite of my issues. Lighthouse was sharp and keen to see an abusive trap for what it was. My one month there with my severe disability in which there is a Valium-like substance in my cerebrospinal fluid that is acting as a benzodiazepine on my body (hence tho exact polar opposite issue dynamic) was tough but they were understanding and at least as helpful as they could reasonably be in getting out of my way and being nice and supportive. Now I m back at Harvard crushing it in life and still dealing with my exact opposite issue of what people that go to Lighthouse go there for combined with the logistical fallout and chain reactions of me having to get sucked into these types of situations in the past (never again) due to a lack of understanding of my rare case of GABA-related idiopathic hypersomnia that Lighthouse helped elucidate to others. Appreciate it, you guys!
