Accepted Insurance

Skywood Outpatient works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Michigan is essential for certain phases of recovery treatment. During detox, many physical ailments related to the detox process can be lethal if not treated. Having medical staff available at all times provides the proper care for safe detox. Medications and other treatment can also make the process much more comfortable and bearable.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients receiving care in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) typically have completed inpatient treatment, but some choose to enroll in IOP immediately following detox. Intensive outpatient rehabs offer high-level support for clients in early recovery and those at an increased risk of relapse. Most programs provide between nine and 20 hours of treatment per week, with services ranging from addiction counseling to recovery education to medication assisted treatment (MAT). Holistic therapies, such as acupuncture, are common.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse treatment center has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track. When co-occurring addiction and mental health issues are treated concurrently, individuals are much more likely to achieve and maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle. They offer integrated treatment using evidence-based methods for the best chance of long-term success in recovery.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Michigan helps participants view challenges more clearly so they can respond to them in healthy ways. During a limited number of structured sessions, clients learn about and practice these changes to effectively address substance use and mental health disorders.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

The worst experience of my life. They do not care about recovery here at all. Do NOT go here. It is not worth the frustration. The absolute worst company. It's only about money. They do not work with many insurance companies and charge a ridiculous amount of money. If you care about yourself then do not even apply.

Skywood Outpatient has been a tremendous help on my path to recovery from alcoholism.I came across the program in February 2024 after decided I needed to stop drinking. My first attempt at getting into the program was unsuccessful as I had not yet detox'ed. They explained why it was necessary and although disappointed, I understood. I came back to them a few weeks later in early March once I had done so.Admittedly, I was pretty nervous about the whole ordeal. I was paranoid about whether I was in the right place, whether I could actually trust the therapists to assist me and whether sharing with others like me was going to be beneficial. Despite my reservations, I committed myself to the program saving every piece of literature, exploring all the outside suggested resources and opening myself up to my peers. The experience level of their therapists varies but I was fortunate enough to get Dr. Collins; who was very helpful in my journey. She definitely challenged me hard in a few areas I was resistant in. But we made a plan together and stuck with it. We addressed everything we said we would. I felt a lot more prepared thanks to our intensive sessions. My journey consisted of both group sessions as well as 1 hour long 1 on 1s with my assigned therapist. I found that this pincer attack strategy worked really well for me. The group sessions are lead by therapists and it rotates. Alongside Dr. Collins, Mike Ferriter and Chelsea Medina also really helped me.Your length of time and amount of sessions you get will vary based on your needs and what your insurance (or you) are willing /able to cover. I did 4 weeks @ 3 sessions a week; 3 sessions a week is the minimum requirement while you're in the program. Most people I met did more sessions than I did. You can do in-person or Zoom meetings or a mix of both. Their meetings are a bit more open ended and dynamic than a standard AA; but they also have SMART, Recovery Dharma, meetings for men and women and more. You'll find people from many walks of life there. If you did their inpatient program before, you may end up seeing many familiar faces as well. There were others like me also who only did outpatient. The care I received during this experience was life changing. But what was even better was the post treatment help I received. Alumni are signed up on their app which performs a lot like Facebook. There, you can get in touch with others, view resources, find meetings and more. I posted about my need to find a new living situation to get away from the addicts I was living with. Andy Mackay is the Alumni Coordinator and he was tremendously helpful! He helped me get in touch with a sober living house in my area all while being on the opposite side of the state! He also continued to follow up with me to make sure I was okay.Overwhelmed by the whole experience really; but in a good way. I received great care when I was in outpatient and I continue to get help from them even after I graduated. These guys really do care about your well being and your journey to recovery. I would and have suggested Skywood to multiple people since then and I'm very glad I connected with them. They gave me great tools to help aid me in some really tough times. Can't recommend them enough!

I attended skywood for PHP and IOP after a 90 day stay in treatment out of state. My therapist and I thought it would be a good idea to stay connected with group therapy while I transition back into life at home. I was extremely disappointed. My primary therapist at skywood told me that we would do emdr therapy in our sessions in order to continue working through the trauma I had previously been working on, which we never did, after she had forgot to schedule a one on one with me in the first few weeks I was there. I unfortunately felt like a paycheck and not a client who mattered while attending skywood. If you're looking to just complain and talk about other people other than yourself and have the therapists pass judgments while validating whatever u feel, right or wrong. This is the place for you. Very sad.
