I thought this was overall a tremendous place. It was just what I needed to take a break from the stress of the daily grind and come to terms with some of my problems that have been holding me back. Paris, Brendan, LC, Sia, Gio, Wendy, Ferris were the best techs to have around and Sheri, Greg, Yousef and Leslie were amazing practitioners. At first I had some issues with the program, but after discussing with the management team, we got everything sorted out and it made my stay one that was well worth it. I also had the pleasure of meeting Priya, the owner of the program, who is a wonderful person. I could tell her heart is in the right place and is very passionate about making it the best program possible.. Very professional staff, amazing property and exceptional place!

Went to Kanan Elevation to deal with my self harm regarding substance abuse, depression, and anxiety. Had an incredible time because of the staff and clients. The facilities were nice although the grounds were kinda small. The group therapy sessions were extremely helpful as well as the individual activities. Really the other people there made the experience the most enjoyable and beneficial for me. Very welcoming overall. The chef was excellent and helped me develop and better relationship with eating. What I am not a fan of is the administration, who I never really met or put any faces to. Rules and protocols were constantly being changed while I was there which made it confusing knowing what I was and wasn't allowed to do. The staff seemed just as confused and in the dark about the policy changes which were made pretty much every day. Some of the rules were even triggering for me personally, mainly regarding food acxess.I have an eating disorder. The staff was very particular for when I could and couldn't eat. I understand that may be beneficial to other clients but it wasn't for me, and despite expressing that to my therapists they said there was nothing to be done about it because it was policy and their hands were tied. On top of that, I struggle with addiction and it wasn't very discrete that people there were vaping even though its also forbidden. Pretty much every in-patient hospitalization I've been to has had cigs or vapes for their clienrs so it's not too big of an issue. I just don't see why the food restrictions were enforced more strictly han the drug use policies.Lastly I left a week early against medical advisement. The administration tried their hardest to get me to stay at every turn, even contacting my family to see if they could talk me into staying. They did reiterate to me however thay it was always my decision whether I left or not, so after filling out a bunch of paperwork and being advised to deny their release of information by one of my counselor (good advice honestly), I was finally able to get out. I don't regret my time here, but it could have been better on behalf of the administration (never met them by the way).Recommend this place for people dealing with addiction, depression, anxiety, or eating disorders. Helped me in those areas.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
During the first phase of recovery – detox – it is crucial to have 24-hour clinical care in California. This care provides constant monitoring in order to ensure your safely and comfort as you progress through the withdrawal process for drug or alcohol addiction. Licensed professionals prescribe medications to treat withdrawal symptoms and provide frequent monitoring to ensure your safely as addictive toxins leave your system.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The detoxification process is the first step down the road to recovery. Elevation’s safe and comfortable detox program provides clients with 24-hour supervision to ensure they remain as comfortable and supported as possible. The talented staff works tirelessly to minimize withdrawal symptoms and reduce the time it takes to reach sobriety.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

A co-occurring disorder is the presence of substance abuse along with a mental health disorder. There may be a mood disorder such as bipolar, depression, or generalized anxiety. It may be a personality disorder such as borderline, narcissistic, or antisocial personality. It also can be a schizophrenia spectrum, eating, or neurodevelopmental disorder. Sometimes the person may show signs of the mental disorder first, while sometimes the drug abuse creates or exacerbates it. Often, the two co-occurring disorders cause a “snowball effect.” As the mental disorder arises and worsens, the person self-medicates with drugs or alcohol. When the person abuses substances, their mental disorder worsens. Thus begins the vicious cycle of co-occurring disorders. People with severe mental disorders are four times more likely to be heavy alcohol drinkers, three and a half times more likely to use marijuana regularly, and over five times more likely to be daily tobacco smokers than those without.

Elevation Behavioral's substance abuse treatment program utilizes more individual therapy sessions than any other treatment facility in the industry. Clients meet with licensed, highly skilled therapists a minimum of four times each week. This ensures that their treatment remains on track and that they receive the personal attention they need. Too often suffering individuals are brought to sobriety just to be pushed aside. We invest the time it takes to help each client become who they were meant to be. Elevation is one of only a few residential treatment facilities licensed to treat mental health disorders as a primary diagnosis. Committed to providing clients with exceptional treatment in a compassionate environment. Elevation makes a positive, measurable difference in the physical, emotional and spiritual health of the people we serve while building up their confidence and respecting their dignity.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

During group therapy, men and women learn to express their emotions openly in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and reduces feelings of social isolation that are often associated with addiction.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

For clients who are struggling with ambivalence toward change, motivational interviewing in California can help strengthen their commitment to change. Using a conversational method, the therapist helps you explore your motivations and empowers you to make the changes you desire.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

While in rehab treatment, you may work on developing various life skills to help you in long term recovery. These may include resilience, interpersonal skills, and self awareness. The focus will be on developing healthy habits for self care and relationships so you have the skills you need to manage day to day life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Recreational therapy is included in alcohol and drug addiction treatment to focus on engaging you in healthy activities that reduce your cravings and improve your overall health and well being. When you participate in group sports, art, or nature walks, you develop new interests and find a meaningful way to spend your time and reduce your cravings.

Elevations saved my life. The caring staff and therapists, the amazing food and the beautiful setting, not to mention the lifelong friends I made during my stay- it gave me the tools I needed to want to live my best life again and recover from a traumatic time. My experience permanently changed my brain chemistry and my outlook, as well as my personality. I am a better person and I feel a million times lighter. They don t take your phone away, the rooms are nice, you are never forced to do anything that you don t want to do (including medication). They keep the environment safe and peaceful so you really have time to introspect, journal, do shadow work, and make the most of your treatment. At times things could be a bit disorganized, but overall it was an incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone.Thank you Elevations!

Elevation Behavioral Health in Agoura Hills, CA is the absolute best. As a parent giving this review, I would like to acknowledge the highly qualified professionals in caring for patients at this facility. First off, I will be forever grateful that my child is finally receiving the help that is necessary which is solely because the expert professionals involved at Elevation Behavioral Health really do care and treat all their clients like family. After speaking at length to primary therapists, Yousuf Syed, Kylie Battista and case manager Brian P., I am greatly relieved and encouraged that life will be better for our entire family. Other notable mentions include Greg Rigali, specialized EMDR therapist; Tiera Click, therapist who is always happy and lights up a room; Roxy Esquivel, operations supervisor; Wendy, housekeeper; and Dallas and Heather who are amazing and committed coaches. From the very beginning, Kelly Jackson the Admissions Coordinator is amazing as she spoke to my child for months. Kelly gave an abundance of information about the program and answered every single question. Kelly has patience and excellent communication skills. The accomplished professionals at this facility provide reassurance, open communication, and guidance which is all greatly appreciated and rare when regarding mental health facilities. Frankly, this facility is truly one of a kind! I honestly feel my child is protected and taken care of while at Elevation Behavioral Health in Agoura Hills, CA. The residential program is comprehensive and involves an integrated approach to treatment in a beautiful facility that feels like home. Elevation Behavioral Health in Agoura Hills, CA also offers transitional living and outpatient care to individuals so they can receive continued counseling and training while managing life. Throughout treatment, individuals go on daily therapeutic outings which are varied, comprehensive, individually designed, and essential for continued growth. My child who is much deserving, is finally getting the guidance, assistance and tools necessary to lead a fulfilling life. As a parent, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring deeply and lovingly taking care of all your patients as though they are your own family. Our family feels genuinely blessed and are forever thankful.

Elevation Behavior Health helped me get sober and stay sober. I have been to multiple rehabs all over the US and nothing compares to Elevation Behavior Health. I traveled to Elevation from the Midwest. I was looking for a dual diagnosis rehab.. I had a severe/long detox from alcohol. They provided a safe medical detox for me. The housing is just like home. Very comfortable and clean. The groups are small and all in house. The one on one sessions helped me dig deep into my trauma. They helped set up aftercare so I was all set when I got home. I would go back to Elevation if I ever needed to in the future. They are great people and they really care.were ve0nhelpful and helped
