This place looks nothing like the photos. No security. My daughter was a patient here and watched a child take their bottle of meds and OD during medication time right in front of the staff. I went to visit my daughter one time and a patient opened the door. I removed her immediately. It's dirty and they do nothing they claim like yoga, swimming, etc. if you care about your child do not send them there. It should be closed!

This place is a complete money grab. Our son was supposed to attend for 4-6 weeks. After the second week, his therapist said he was ready to come home (we all knew this to not be true). We eventually found out that insurance had only approved the initial two weeks. Please don t send your loved one here.

Accepted Insurance

Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program – Dripping Springs works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs promote participants' sustained sobriety through rigorous and ongoing peer coaching and personal spiritual growth. Participants routinely attend 12 step meetings, which are available multiple times per day, 365 days per year in most communities. This ensures that those in recovery have prompt access to the structure and support they need when they need it. These programs use spiritual precepts to address the root causes of addiction and encourage compassion, self-awareness, forgiveness, accountability, and acceptance.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Texas provides a safe environment for medical detox. This setting is crucial to provide medical care during withdrawal. Certain withdrawal symptoms can cause life-threatening conditions, but patients in a supervised clinical setting have treatment readily available to address any symptoms before they become severe. Treatment can also be provided for co-occurring physical and mental health issues.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Peer support is an important aspect of group therapy sessions for drug and alcohol addiction. As you and your peers share stories and encourage each other, it fosters a sense of community and belonging that helps you process your feelings and reduces the sense of isolation that is associated with addiction.

Individual therapy offers you a confidential space to address the complexities of your drug or alcohol addiction. Your therapist guides these personalized sessions to help develop self awareness and manage stress. This promotes sustained sobriety and overall well being.

Together with an experienced trauma therapist, you work on healing emotional wounds from traumatic experiences within a trauma therapy environment. Your therapist will help you process the experience of the trauma, which promotes emotional healing and improves your overall mental health.

Couples therapy helps couples learn to control emotions, trust each other, and communicate more effectively. It can be useful for short term intervention for a specific issue or for working on the relationship long term.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing

The purpose of family therapy is to create a supportive and understanding family dynamic within the family unit. Therapists help individual members to identify and change harmful behavior patterns and improve communication. This provides a stable foundation for the family and their loved one's recovery.

The right life skills training will help you build the skills you need for recovery. You'll learn how to solve problems, improve your social life, enhance your mental health, and make good decisions. This is a key component of drug rehab programs in Texas.

What you eat has a significant effect on your mental and physical health. That's why many addiction recovery programs in Texas incorporate nutrition therapy in their treatment. This therapy teaches you how addiction affects nutrition, what foods are best to eat during recovery, and how to shop for and prepare healthy meals.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy in Texas can look different for each person. You may engage in fitness activities, community service, culinary arts, or art therapy, for example. The goal is to provide a safe setting where you can interact with your environment and work through emotions and experiences with the help of that activity and the guidance of a therapist.

This RTC gave me such a wonderful experience and made me see myself as a different person (in a good way)I came here in the summer of 2023 because I had just attempted suicide and also had other mental health issues prior to that. When I first got to Discovery I was praying that insurance wouldn't cover it because I did not want to be there and waste my summer again, but when I got there everyone was so welcoming and the RTC that I went to in 2022 was not like that (I DON'T RECOMMEND MERIDELL ACHIEVEMENT CENTER) but this place had a different vibe. Discovery actually felt like a place were I could actually be myself and I could actually trust my peers and staff, and I could and did. I loved it so much to the point when my therapist told me my discharge date I cried because I didn't want to leave, and when it was my discharge day I cried because I didn't want to go back to my mom. But the fact that I was only there for 27 days and my previous one I was there for 45 is crazy. I recommend this place!Everyone there is so kind and accepting.

Great location and great support. My problem was my kid molded themself into the criteria to "graduate" and left before being as ready as could be. My child want to change but has a hard time.We also had a hard time getting our child's medication to the residential center. They work with a clinic and certain insurances are hard. I think a lot of medical visits were covered by the credit card on file.Insurance wouldn't give us more that an month there.Over all good place for the right patient, not for people with personality disorders.

I went here for a short period of time at 17, at that time I had been in and out of hospitals. This hospital changed that. It encouraged me to be a better person. To care about myself and how to take care of everything. The staff are so sweet and are willing to just be there if someone is struggling, I appreciate my time I spent here :)

I spent 44 days at discovery roughly a year and a half ago, & even though in the moment all i wanted to do was go home, looking back on it this was easily the most helpful thing i could ve done as a troubled teenager. my therapist there was amazing, they helped me work through all of the trauma that led me to needing an RTC, & the rest of the staff was super friendly, sweet & understanding. I think this is one of the few long(ish) term places in the austin/austin metro area that kids should go to if they need higher care for mental health.

My daughter spent 38 days at the Discovery Mood and Anxiety in Dripping Springs, TX. I just picked her up yesterday so can t really comment on how well it worked, however, what I can comment on is how much I LOVED working with the staff here! My daughter unfortunately has done more than a few stints in inpatient hospitals and would beg and cry every phone call for me to pick her up, but being at Discovery she was always saying such great things about the staff there. She had issues with one tech, but hey we can t like everyone right? I never felt I was being pushed away or that my concerns or thoughts were not heard or acknowledge! Each phone call and virtual visit my daughter seemed happy and in a better place mentally than I have ever seen her in. She has stated numerous times how much she thinks the workers here care more for the kids than any place she has ever been and I think that alone helped her want to get the help she knew she need!I can t thank the staff here enough!Thank you Cheryl, Amanda, Terrance, Scott, Russell, Michelle, the tech with the vintage style that she talks about ALL the time, she LOVED your style!, and so many others I can t remember the names right now! Thank you for taking care of my baby and treating her with the love and respect so many other facilities lacked!

This facility is the only small(er) facility in Texas I could find taking on only a few kiddos at a time. The house is very welcoming with a home-like environment.
