About Clarvida Of Arizona

Clarvida Of Arizona, formerly Pathways of Arizona, provides substance use services in Northwest Tucson. In order to inspire a commitment to change, their Seven Challenges Program is intended for adults and adolescents who are struggling with alcohol and drug use. Through this program people are encouraged to take stock of their lives, think about the effects of their substance use and get ready for success as they embrace change.

The Seven Challenges include reflecting on the reasons for substance use as well as having open conversations about drugs and alcohol. They help you evaluate any harm that may result from use and learn to acknowledge both internal and external impacts. Next, you make deliberate choices about drugs and life as well as think about future objectives and aspirations. The last phase is commitment to carrying out these choices and resolving any problems that may come up.

The program is developed in collaboration with a diverse group. It promotes inclusivity by honoring the participants’ varied backgrounds. Their comprehensive approach addresses not only substance use behavior but also its root causes and associated lifestyle problems.

Candid conversations about alcohol and drug use are fostered by this program by providing a forum for people to freely share their experiences. Participants gain awareness of the needs that substance use satisfies, the potential harm it can cause and the dangers of continuing such a lifestyle as a result of this understanding.

In order to address co-occurring issues, clinicians collaborate with families and youth enabling clients to come up with constructive alternatives. This cooperative strategy gives clients the resources and encouragement they need to bring about long lasting change.

This has to be one of the best therapist I've had so far. She's guiding and genuinely helps me through my struggles and helps me manage myself so I am able to cope without help. I'm near graduating from therapy because of her.

I don't care what you people call yourselves right now, but I know you as Pathways. It's like CPS renaming themselves as DCS, thinking that it would erase there bad reputation LMAO. My son and I received services from Pathways. I made the mistake in asking for a psychological evaluation for my son. I asked his case manager several times and she kept saying no to me on the phone as if she were talking to a child. She said I wasn't giving her a good enough reason. I explained to her that he has never had a psychological evaluation through them, what better reason then that. She was absolutely horrible. I started to cry on the phone feeling completely defeated because she wouldn't help my son. She said that the doctor gave him a psychological eval when she spoke to "ME" on his first telemed, when she asked "ME" questions about his emotional health etc. Are you seriously going to treat my son and evaluate his needs based only on what his mother says? Last time I checked, a psychological evaluation has to be done with the patient. OMG, so stupid! UMM GEE, that could be the main reason why he was misdiagnosed and was receiving the wrong care for his mental health issues. After breaking down on the phone with his case manager I cried out at her and said "Why won't you people help me!?" She replied with enthusiasm, "Does that mean you're going somewhere else?" Are you freaking kidding me! Right then and there I realize what I had to do. I had to get my son and myself as far away from these people as possible. They were toxic and unhealthy for anyone under their care.BUT, I should really be thanking them. Since then, we have been at Blake Foundation Easter Seals and absolutely love it! They are PHENOMENAL!! They know how to treat their patients and they've been treating us fantastically ever since we left that "Horrible Place".

Accepted Insurance

Clarvida Of Arizona works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Also known as CBT, cognitive behavioral therapy in Arizona is one of the most common types of psychotherapy. It offers a structured method of counseling that effectively treats substance use disorder and dual diagnosis disorders.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction includes focused attention on the unique challenges that trigger addictive behavior. During individual therapy sessions, you have a safe space in which to discuss stressors and emotional struggles. Therapy fosters trust and open communication that helps develop personalized strategies to overcome addiction.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing

Family therapy involves sessions where members of the family discuss how addiction has affected them individually and collectively. Therapists can guide families in developing coping strategies that help support their loved one's recovery while also focusing on their own emotional health.

One of the therapists who treated my sister was completely unsuitable to treat her. He didn't have enough empathy or patience to listen to her, and even if he did, he didn't have enough training to treat the issues that she had.

TERRIBLE place!! I have been through several Psychiatrists at both locations within the past 6 months because they can't keep employees. One, I had scheduled an appointment with and the day of my appointment, I called to confirm my appointment (just a feeling) and I was told my appointment was cancelled because the Psychiatrist I had my appointment with "didn't last long". At that point, I had to reschedule with another person that was completing their training (whatever that means) and that was 2 months out. When I finally met with her, she's a total joke and has a "we'll just go with it, whatever" attitude. I told her TWICE the prior medications I had been on and the ones that DID NOT work for me or had terrible side effects, and she still prescribed TWO of them. One of the medications that DID work for me previously, she would not prescribe. If she read my previous history, she would have seen that I actually did great with it. They clearly don't read up on prior notes and it shows with the services they provide! They are extremely short staffed, their caseloads are outrageous and it clearly shows in how they run people in and out of there like cattle. I'm in the process of looking for a new place that actually cares and takes the time to get to know their patients. They are suppose to be helping individuals with mental health issues, NOT causing more anxiety and stress. DO NOT RECOMMEND EITHER LOCATION.

Exceptional mental health care & pertinent knowledge of other supportive programs. If you have a teenager, I would strongly recommend their therapists, case managers and psychiatrists. The staff is all about the client and will advocate tirelessly to actively improve their client s lives.

Impossible to get an appointment or get in touch with anyone.Their phones are always having problems or they overbook appointments and then cancel on you so have to wait another month or longer to actually speak with someone.High turnover rate for both Nurse Practitioners and Therapists which can really mess things up.The refill line for medications sometimes works, but sometimes you might have to go without important medication for a whole month.

We are sorry you have had difficulty in contacting us and with services. We would encourage you to call and speak to a Supervisor, to assist you.

Horrible service!! For someone who is treating people with mental health conditions, they are terrible. They aren't responsive to phone calls, its IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of your Dr. and they never have the same response when dealing with one person to the next. I would HIGHLY NOT recommend them to anyone. Reason being, people deserve to receive good service, especially those in a fragile state, with mental health issues, and I can guarantee if you're being treated at Pathways, you will receive less than par in the help you receive.

So I have a lot to say, but have decided to keep it (semi) short and sweet, and of course straight to the point!:)My 12 y/o has been going through a lot- mental health-wise the past year. Things got A LOT worse right before Halloween, when things turned from moderate to straight crisis mode. I ll spare the details, but I want to specifically give shoutouts to a few of the staff I ve had on my team, assisting me with the needs for my daughter. First, Mariah Hatch- she s been consistently there for my kiddo, and has done a wonderful job at being kind, supportive and understanding for her. Secondly I want to thank Kim Caceres, one of the case workers who stepped in when things turned real sour, and yet has been very communicative and extremely kind, professional, and has been available to my daughter and I whenever I ve needed her. Third, a shoutout to Casey Adams- one of the BH techs whom my daughter has really warmed up to; she is very energetic and patient, and has even made my life easier by coming for home visits to spend time with my daughter while we transition her back into a more stable state of mind. Lastly I want to recognize Kyna Ambrose- one of the nurses on standby in the background; she has been there in the event a medical or pharmaceutical intervention is needed. (She has been very understanding that I m wanting to do a more holistic approach with my kiddo, so I can appreciate she is not pushy with meds, and respects my wishes as far as how I d like to handle this more naturally with only the aid of supplements for now.)I know this facility hasn t the best reviews from the past, but my experience has been very satisfactory and I appreciate all the staff and receptionists being so helpful and kind and ensuring my daughter continues getting the mental health care she has needed.Thank you, Pathways for helping my daughter; it s making all the difference, and she wouldn t be doing so well if it weren t for all the wonderful staff who truly care to help the people like her who need it most.:)

Please don't go here! I had an issue with my daughter's therapist and spoke to the supervisor Sherri Broughton who did absolutely nothing to resolve the problem. My daughter has unfortunately experienced a great deal of trauma in her life and when my husband and I adopted her, we knew that she would have to have some pretty intensive therapy to help her cope. Much to our disappointment, none of the therapists here are trauma certified and do not have the skills and expertise needed. Ms. Broughton tried to brush it off like it was no big deal. She has no business whatsoever being in the behavioral health field. My husband and I will be filing a grievance with the state of Arizona as well as the AZ Board of Licensure due to her unethical practice.
