Terrible place! My daughter who is deaf was basically denied services, said they could not accommodate her there. When I fought for her to be able to go to that location it took days for then to get an interpreter there for her in person. She sat there clueless. They said an interpreter would make the other clients uncomfortable... this was a few years back. Looks like nothing has gotten better.

My 8 year old daughter was admitted here for severe anxiety after the start of third grade. It took a lot of individualized plans to get her into the building and participating in the program. But it was a way for us to get her the help she needed and also keep up with her school work since she wasn t attending. Look into it if your child is struggling. It may not work for everyone but it worked for us and I m so thankful to have had it!

Accepted Insurance

AMITA Health Behavioral Medicine Institute Crystal Lake works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Unfortunately my son was referred to this program twice. Last fall, and this summer. Last fall he did amazing, the staff was amazing, they were so kind and supportive and gentle with the kids. My son put in so much effort and I saw so much change. Sadly no one listened to me when I said he needed to stay longer and he was discharged. I will never understand why this level specifically of mental health care is not offered for an extended amount of time without the child being a danger to themselves or others. Our second time around was a disaster. A DISASTER. My son was placed with older teens when he himself is not even a teen yet, kids were able to sneak in vapes nicotine and thc and what ever else that my son was able to access. THREE weeks in we had our first family session, after ZERO communication from staff members other than to communicate his drug test results. There was no phone call to me in the beginning to talk in depth about what has been going on. His intake appointment was rushed because they had to start the program for the day. It was sloppy, the entire thing was sloppy and it was clear from day 1 that these kids are not their priority. They put my son on a behavior contract immediately due to something he hadn t done for over 10 days prior to his arrival at the program. How does that make sense? Oh and vaping nicotine will set you on the path to substance abuse/rehab referrals and discharge from the mental health program (you know, the program that was decided your child literally needs? But ok) While it is not OK healthy legal nor appropriate for minors to vape nicotine, it s not a way to get high, to numb yourself, to escape reality etc. Ultimately when his behavioral issues presented themselves to them, blurting out answers and one day refusing to cooperate in a group session he was discharged from the program. What a joke. These kids come to you for help, it s your job that you signed up for to help them WORK THROUGH and give tools to change these behaviors during the time they are in your program. Not send them home and discharge them because their behavior is inconvenient for you. I held this program in such high regard, but these new people have taken something truly helpful and special and run it into the ground. I will never recommend this program again to anyone whose children are struggling. I hope a staff change comes again soon and the program can get back to what it s meant to be so these kids can get the care they desperately need and deserve.

Being our first ever experience & not knowing much of what to expect, they have made it easier on us.Our intro to the first day was detailed, calm, & made us feel comfort to know they were going to do their best for our daughter. Our case manager, Tamara, was great, thorough, timely, & made sure to follow through to all tasks needed for our daughter's care throughout the program.

This is the worst place I ve ever sent my daughter to I would never send her back! The staff has no respect for the kids whatsoever or what they re dealing with! They want simple not difficult if you don t adhere to what they say they don t want you in their program.! And then when they want to discharge her from the program when you re in the middle of getting meds situated you re SOL because you re out of their program you re out of there Dr you re out of everything! Please do not send your kids here if you want them to get help!
