Before I attended Fair Oaks Recovery Center I wasn t sure what to expect, as I have never been an impatient at a rehab center before. Right off the bat I attended all of the classes, speaker sessions, alumni night (while impatient), and AA meetings (I wasn t used to going to AA meetings). I never considered myself an addict until the prescription medications I was given started to alter my behavior for the worst, affecting my family. What I like about this place is that it structures so many different aspects of psychological and physical therapy into the day. I was doing trauma classes with Tina (who is marvelous by the way), and Andy (who is also compassionate towards every guest). Theresa is an awesome, wonderful human being, who has an electric wealth of knowledge and wisdom. All of these three gave me the gift of looking past my shame and guilt, and to a future where I could be of service to others.I went in after detoxing 7 days at home because I didn t want to relapse, so I removed myself from the world for a little bit. This gives the person the space to rethink their choices, and to develop new habits that lead to more improved behaviors. I suggest those of you thinking about only doing a seven day detox to rethink this choice, as working the program goes beyond just detoxification. You need to put in the work, and being vulnerable to change is the only way you ll ever get better.Think of relapse prevention like a spider web. The more the web is laced with individual strands (tools: AA, NA, Sponsor, PHP/IOP, church, community service, therapist, psychiatrist, medications, self-confidence, self-love, etc.) the better you ll be able to handle whatever life throws at you, because life will throw the kitchen sink at you.If you want help, it s good to be assertive. People won t be able to read your mind, but they re good at reading your body language. I felt shame and guild before I entered this place, I left with wisdom, friends.l, a foundation, and what I needed to do in order to not get loaded.Your choice to select this establishment is going to be life-changing in so many ways, for the better. People that love themselves don t get loaded, they do EVERYTHING to protect themselves. They just don t hire anyone, they re very selective, and it shows through the effort they put in to keep your eyes on the prize your sobriety.

F.O.R.C. saved me from myself. I was slowly killing myself for years with my addiction to alcohol. I didn't want to drink but I didn't know why I couldn't stop. It was only a couple days into my residential reatment when I truly started learning about myself. The staff and other clients at F.O.R.C. made that possible. EVERYONE was friendly, supportive, non-judgemental, open, kind, and just all around there for me. Over the next few weeks there, they provided plenty off tools, tips, and lessons for me to take a deep look at myself and my sobriety goals. Tips and tools to use to maintain sobriety. The staff and counselors really care and have a loving self-love approach which is helpful in the recovery process. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate the place, people, and things while I was there and ongoing after. There is so much more pride in myself because of Fair Oaks Recovery Center! With them, I know I can fight my addiction! Thank you so much and all my love to you!

Accepted Insurance

Valley Recovery Center of California works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

monthly iconMonthly

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare. Valley Recovery Center offers a Sacramento Day Treatment Program which runs Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The groups offered are similar to those in the Residential Treatment Program but are designed for clients that are ready to be in their home environments and do not require 24 hour monitoring. Sacramento Day Treatment program provides clients with extended care, support, and relapse prevention after they transition out of inpatient residential treatment. Their caring and compassionate clinical team brings decades of experience and training to helping people who struggle with addiction and co-occurring disorders.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one’s body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. Detoxification at Valley Recovery Center of California is supervised by their highly qualified onsite team of addiction professionals. Specifically trained and licensed nurses are available 24 hours a day to provide compassionate and professional care.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Instensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. Their Intensive Outpatient Program consists of 3 three-hour group sessions per week in a small group setting. The sessions are offered in the evening in order to provide intensive treatment with the least amount of disruption to the client’s work, school, or family schedule. Valley Recovery Center offers a safe supportive environment for you or your loved one to begin finding that hope. Our experienced team of addiction professionals is dedicated to guiding clients on their journey to an addiction-free life. Their IOP is offered in the evening to provide this treatment, with as little disruption in these other areas as possible. Valley Recovery Center’s Intensive Outpatient Program in Sacramento consists of three small group therapy sessions a week. Each small group session will last approximately three hours. Intensive Outpatient is not the solution for everyone, and your treatment team will help you determine if it is the best fit for you.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Many people struggling with addiction simply cannot experience the health for which they long on their own. Residential treatment provides a safe, supportive environment where a person struggling with addiction can develop a solid foundation for recovery. Valley Recovery Center of California offers an admissions assessment, bio-psycho-social evaluation, process group, individual therapy, family therapy, families weekend, community meeting, yoga, exercise, core labs, relapse prevention, discharge planning, twelve step support and therapeutics outings.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
The road to successful recovery from addiction can be difficult, but not impossible. Most clients who have transitioned from the protective walls of residential/inpatient treatment quickly experience the anxiety producing reality of returning to their former lives where they often face the challenges that await them. Without the immediate support of staff and a structured safe environment designed to prevent relapse, managing the triggers and cravings to use or drink again can prove challenging and clients tend to find themselves relapsing and re-entering treatment over and over again without the appropriate aftercare plan. Valley Recovery’s Sober Living Environment (SLE) is one such place. Located at the Villas at Fair Oaks in Sacramento, California, these two-bedroom, four bed, gender-specific apartments provide a structured residence where an individual can live while they continue treatment through Valley Recovery Center’s Partial Hospitalization or Intensive Outpatient Programs. At the SLE, an individual can become more involved in developing and participating in their sober support networks, explore employment opportunities, attend school, and integrate sober living and healthy habits into their daily lives.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

My first time with Fair Oaks Recovery was back on 4/2/2024. Never went to rehab before. I had 117 days sober under my belt and then relapsed. I then decided to go back to Fair Oaks Recovery on 8/25 and was treated so differently. I felt more ashamed going back. I had more depression and anxiety. The classes were not beneficial to me and PHP would have been great if Tina was more available. Not her fault since Fair Oaks is still under staffed. Andy is the only one I connected with. Theresa is also unavailable most of the time. We pay good money for treatment and this second time around I don t feel it was worth it. After treatment there is no follow up or care unless you show up to an alumni meeting. Funny how we get judged for relapsing. This is a disease right? So when Theresa rolled her eyes as I came through this last time this is the reason I wanted to leave. It was your Director and Melissa that got me to stay. Thanks for the expensive help. Hopefully future ones that relapse won t be judged. Also, my Apple Watch and Michael Kors purse went missing. Still nothing. I m not sure why Theresa runs shop there but Kristi and Roberto should be running programs and treatment. It s obvious that Theresa is too busy and more concerned with first time clients. I was not included in all activities and not even asked how I was doing this second time around. If I ever need services again it won t be with Fair Oaks Recovery. Oh and they have no night program for PHP/IOP. They send us to Azure Acres which helped me more than anything. Thanks Take care.

Let me start off by saying Fair Oaks Recovery Center has saved my life. I came in the doors of FORC a shattered man straight from the emergency room, dying from alcohol addiction. I finally found my lowest, darkest rock bottom, again and I was physically addicted to alcohol. The moment I walked into the building I was greated by members of the staff I d later find out to be their Maintenance Expert and their CEO, all welcoming me with smiles and thanking ME for being there. I won t say the 37 days I spent in recovery were easy, because if they are easy you aren t working your recovery correctly. Yesterday left Belled Out with my head held high with a sense of self worth and love, knowing I deserve to give myself the life I want free from addiction and trauma I ve carried since childhood. If you know anyone suffering from addiction, please call this facility and get them there. FORC will always be a part of my recovery because they gave me my chance at a second life.

I spent the best 34 days of my life here recently. Wish I went sooner. The staff is amazing! I learned so much about myself. My traumas and things in my past that fed my addiction. I d been in recovery for 6 years. Did outpatient 4 times. That was like skipping a stone across the pond. This place was like jumping into the deep end with both feet and no floatiesI cannot say enough about Teresa and Tina they are guardian angels that along with their staff have saved countless lives. I am truly blessed to be part of the FORC alumniI recommend this center 100%
