Sunrise Detox Millbury

About Sunrise Detox Millbury

Sunrise Detox Millbury is a drug and alcohol detox center located in Millbury, Massachusetts. The facility offers customized inpatient medical detox services for various substances, including narcotics, opioids and alcohol. The goal that medical professionals will work with clients to achieve is diminishing withdrawal symptoms and carefully tapering clients off the medication, based on their needs. Patients can expect to receive 24/7 treatment to ensure the detox process is safe. Medical staff will monitor vital signs such as respiration and pulse. The medicines that will be chosen for patients will be based on a comprehensive medical evaluation. Staff members are ready to respond to a patient’s inquiries during the process.

Along with medications, Sunrise Detox Millbury will also provide patients with group and individual therapy and peer mentoring as they detox. The goal of therapy will be to address the emotional and mental origins of a patient’s addiction. Patients can choose the type of therapy they feel will best suit them. In individual therapy, counselors will address mental health issues that might be causing an addiction, such as depression, anxiety and panic attacks. Counselors will also encourage patients to seek emotional support from family and friends. They provide a non judgmental environment that helps patients learn to trust again.

In group therapy, clients can have the opportunity to open up about their experiences with a support group of peers. Clients will also get a chance to learn coping mechanisms that other patients are using to help with their recovery. A peer support program is also available for clients to get connected with behavioral health experts and those who’ve recovered from addiction who are specifically educated to provide advice for recovery.

If you have a benzo script or benzo problem I woudlnt recommend here. I have friends and family who have had seizures due to not being believed in the intake and not being medicated properly. If you have a prescription for benzos they try and give you and equivalent in Valium that really isn t an equivalent it is about half the dose. If you take adhd medication they also will not give you it so if you take anything even for migraines if you take fioricet they won t give it to you. Staff were very rude

One star is grossly overrating...This facility is a BSAS nightmare and would benefit from a thorough walk through.Having worked in this field for greater than 15 years, I am horribly disappointed and quite honestly, shocked that this place remains open.I never received one phone call from a case manager regarding my family member. It is proven that when family involvement occurs, sobriety is more successful.Proper MAT protocols were not followed (I recognize from previous reviews that Sunrise will be condescending in their attempt to dismiss this claim). Drug tests used are not all inclusive... if a loved one is struggling with Klonopin, please seek another facility. And, a Medical Director too busy slinging names around such as "my problem child" to concern himself with the lack of education and compassion that it takes to be in care of someone's life that is actively occurring in his facility. After several calls with (for lack of a better word) ignorant staff in the background, I have concluded that this facility is dangerous. Most of the Case Managers have less than one year of sobriety themselves... you can't even speak at an AA podium with less than one year. They are not adequately educated, can not intelligently respond to questions about their patients, and are even more unwilling to advocate for their patients. Pushing patients to "get on a clinic" just to get properly dosed while detoxing is their solution. The NP was accusatory, withholding proper medication to those that she felt were drug seeking but, somehow missed the patients actually using contraband who later overdosed on site. Two staff on separate phone calls were overheard reporting concerns with the NPs "problem with white people".Aftercare was completely done by me or wouldn't have been done. After greater than 15 attempts over 3 days with holding times upwards of 25 minutes trying to reach a member of the medical team, I requested to leave a message for a call back. The nurse that returned my call, along with the gentleman (Mark) that admitted my family member and a Tech (Dana) were the only competent staff within the facility and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.I am sickened to death to think that human lives are treated with such a lack of knowledge, compassion, and concern for safety in the way that I witnessed. If this facility continues in this manner, I predict a very short amount of time will pass before they close down... I pray that they don't take more lives with them.

Accepted Insurance

Sunrise Detox Millbury works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
12-step icon12-Step
Recovery models based on 12 step programs feature extensive peer coaching and emphasize personal growth as a key to sustained sobriety. Regular attendance at 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, and available daily, is expected. The 12 steps of recovery are based on spiritual principles and support participants in addressing the root causes of their disease, accept responsibility for their choices, and accept that which is beyond their control. Self-selected sponsors provide one-one-mentoring.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

During cognitive behavioral therapy in Massachusetts, clients work with a trained counselor to identify negative thinking patterns and change them. This change in thinking has been shown to lead to changes in behavior to treat substance use and mental health disorders effectively.

If you are experiencing intense, negative emotions, dialectical behavior therapy can help you learn how to regulate painful emotions and manage the interpersonal situations that generate them. This method is often used during substance use treatment in Massachusetts to help you develop better coping skills and avoid relapse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Four principles are key to motivational interviewing in Massachusetts. First, the therapist offers empathy for the client's feelings and experiences. Second, they encourage the client to believe in themselves and their ability to change. Third, the therapist refrains from imposing their own viewpoints. Lastly, the therapist helps the client identify discrepancies in their circumstances and future goals.

During family therapy, the therapist works with every member of the family unit to understand the role they play in their loved one's addiction. By addressing these patterns, family members learn healthier ways to interact with each other and contribute to a more effective recovery journey for the family member who is addicted.

The life skills you'll learn in rehab range from financial management to practicing healthy self care. They help you learn how to solve problems and make decisions, as well as develop healthy interpersonal relationships – all of which are key to successful recovery.

If you find it difficult to put thoughts and feelings into words, creative arts therapy in Massachusetts might be a good treatment method for you. Through art, music, and other expressive activities, this therapy allows you to explore and convey thoughts and emotions in a safe, creative space.

During experiential therapy, clients process their emotions and situations from the inside out. This is different than the outside in approach of talk therapies. Experiential methods include art, music, equine therapy, and drama, which allow creative expression and personal interaction.

To keep things simple, I'll give a grade for each major category and you can take it for you will.Admissions: B+The staff were friendly and greeting upon arriving, but grossly misinformed me that since I was paying privately, sans insurance, I'd have complete access to my phone and other devices with restriction during my five day stay. I was told the next day that only if I had paid an additional $1,200 for a private room that would have been possible. Otherwise, the process went smoothly and I had my belongings in a few minutes and escorted to my room.Accomodations: A-The rooms were neatly appointed, with a large bureau beween the plush twin beds, a private bathroom adjoing with a stall shower that provided ample warm water. A 40in Roku flat screen TV centered on the opposite wall. Only complaint would be hearing the exhoes of the excessive noise of other clients slamming their doors. Be sure to bring toiletries because they are very sparce here.Nursing: AI enjoyed the restaurant like pager system they employ that calls you when they ready for you at medpass. The staff was very kind and thorough when diagnosing your symptomsEnteetainment/Acivities: DThe detox area has little to none in terms of healthy distractions. The best offerings are tje three daily groups (which 10% attend). The rest consists of smoking, sleeping and eating. The two common TV's are usually occupied by 20 somethings listening to terrible rap songs, gangland TV shows. Bring a couple books and art supplies of your own to get by in the quiteness of your room.Food: B-While it wasn't terrble, it was like having a Stoeffers frozen meal served in a carafe tray. Snacks were inconsistent, like having cereal available but no milk in the fridge. The coffee was above average however.

Chris, We appreciate your perspective and all your comments on your experience. Your concerns are noted and necessary adjustments will be made to improve peoples time with us. We know the entertainment/activities can seem a bit slow at times. During the detox process it's important to let your body slow down and begin to regulate on a normal level again. That being said, there is nothing worse than having to listen to music you don't want to. We totally agree. Thank you again for sharing your experience and we wish you the best!

If i could give ZERO STARS I WOULD!! I sent my cousin here so he could continue to work on himself during his sobriety journey just for another patient there to offer him drugs and somehow bring it into the facility. After declining and saying he was here to get better, this patient then proceeded to intimidate him. Im extremely disappointed by the way this was handled. People were made aware of the situation and as far as i know the patient wasn t removed. Thank god my cousin made the decision to leave because he refused to risk losing his progress and relapsing. The staff needs to do a better job of handling patients who are there for the wrong reasons. Multiple patients have also spoken on mistreatment in this facility and tried to pin my cousin against the staff. I understand that this is a voluntary retreat but to let people stay who are trying to ruin other people s progress is ridiculous.

I was discharged because they found drunk on my roommate they didn't fine any drugs on me or near me then told me I had to figure a way out of there when they are suppose to drive u to the closest train station there's no groups on recover there are no groups at all ll they only care about a paycheck from mass health

Response from the owner7 months ago
Hi Jason, There seem to be a few misunderstandings here. In the event that drugs or alcohol are found on a person or in their belongings, they alone are asked to leave the facility. A copy of the daily schedule, which includes multiple groups throughout the day, is given to every patient admitted. If you would like to discuss your specific case further, please call us at 888-443-3869.

We paid $3000 to get our family member into a safe , medically monitored Center. They called on day six to tell us she was convulsing and being sent to UMASS emergency room. When I got there, she was incoherent and had vomit on her. They had to give her 2 units of saline because she was so dehydrated. She still tested positive to cocaine and meth. Sunrise has a contract with a cab company and she left UMASS in a taxi. I went to sunrise and they said she had not returned. We checked the surveillance tapes and she was never dropped off even though THE DRIVER SAID SHE WAS!! I had to file a missing person report with the Millbury police. She actually had gone to get some clean clothes and the driver said he would wait- which he didn t. This facility has a nurse on staff-leading you to believe the patient is safe. PLEASE don t send your loved one there!!! She would have gotten better care if we put her in a room and locked the door !!!!

Response from the owner11 months ago
Janice, First and foremost, we hope your daughter is safe and in good hands, receiving the care she needs. While we can't comment on the specifics of this case, we'd like to take the opportunity to clear up some misrepresentations. Sunrise does not have a contract with any cab companies. The hospital is who has a contract with the cab company and makes those arrangements. We have had multiple instances in the past where the hospital has sent patients back to our facility without even notifying us they were coming back. We believe that is what happened here. If the driver, arranged by another facility, didn't bring her to the correct drop-off location and you haven't heard from her, you are right to file a missing persons report. We hope they are doing everything possible to find her if she hasn't been found already. Please know we are here should you need anything from us; call 24/7 at 888-443-3869. Again, we hope she is safe.

My ex husband died here last Saturday because the woman who runs this place is a disgusting poor excuse for a human. Everybody in that facility knew he was roaming there property for hours on end and did nothing. Lied about a "sewer" issue that didn't exist. So they canceled his bed and didn't follow any protocols knowing he was homeless. My three sons 14, 20, and 23 want to thank you for ruining there lives forever. Hope you all sleep well knowing he died aline like a dog on the ground outside! May God have mercy on you all

Response from the owner11 months ago
We are deeply saddened to hear about the loss of your ex-husband. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. We understand your concerns and want to assure you that we take the safety and well-being of our patients very seriously. We have strict protocols in place to ensure the safety of all our patients, regardless of their living situation. While your ex-husband was not a patient at our facility, we are committed to learning from this tragedy and will take every step necessary to prevent something like this from happening again. We are available 24/7 to provide support and assistance to anyone who needs it. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can do to help you during this difficult time.

Very poorly executed, my husband was admitted at nighttime only to be released 2.5 days later after being told he would stay for 5-7 days. For an addict who is advocating for himself it is a big deal when the facility doesn t diligently take it serious when told he is not ready after 2.5days. Mid afternoon told your going home no day before or morning warning that you have completed your stay no careful planning to prevent relapse and no extension offered to ensure proper transition. Left mid afternoon to relapse an hr later. The dangers of doing this to individuals results in death. Yes it s the addicts choice to use but to think that less than 7 days is enough to help a person have a clear mind to make a healthy choice is statistically impossible. One thing he had was a great caseworker who tried to advocate for him and who was also shocked he was being released with no plan and warning.Good think another place room his cry for help he is now being cared for at a 30 day treatment center who takes his life seriously.Don t attempt this facility if you are a person who needs person centered treatment and needs more than 3 days to get it.

Response from the owner11 months ago
Hi Maritza, We're sorry for what you are going through. While we can't get into the specifics of any case or circumstances on this platform, we would like to speak to you about it. It is incredibly difficult when our loved ones use or relapse. Our staff goes above and beyond to assist patients in arranging aftercare while they are with us, no matter their length of stay. Accepting that someone declined to continue their much-needed care is difficult for the patient, us, and especially the family. We are always here for you should you need us. We can be reached 24/7 at 888-443-3869.
