About Sundance Hospital

Sundance Hospital specializes in mental health and substance abuse treatment for children, adolescents and adults. Sundance Hospital provides evidence-based, individualized treatment designed to meet the needs of each patient’s customized treatment goals.

Inpatient at this center is used to bring in clients who need to be stabilized. Clients reside at the establishment until fully stabilized and in an improved sense of functioning. Treatment plans are provided to the client after stabilization. This is a crisis center where the length of stay is eight to twelve days.

The outpatient program relies on a group therapy model. Clients attend sessions to share their experiences in a supportive environment. Individuals work toward their goals on their personalized treatment plan while building skills in group counseling sessions. The outpatient program lasts four to six weeks.

Sundance Behavioral does not list who they are in-network with, but most major insurance providers will typically cover mental health services. Major insurance providers who can help with this include Humana, Beacon, Anthem, ComPsych, Magellan Health, and Kaiser Permanente. Some other ones include Aetna, Amerigroup, United Healthcare, Ambetter, BlueCross/BlueShield, and Cigna. Those with out-of-network benefits should contact their provider to verify coverage.

I'm going to do an honest review here. The good: the staff is in constant communication with you. They will call you to report any issues or concerns, they always answer the phone and I had no trouble talking to the inpatient unit anytime I called. Admission was easy, no long wait. The bad: no patient portal, discharge documentation written by hand, no patient plan or recommendations provided in discharge plan. Lots of room for improvement there on discharge process. Also, no step down plan given. The ugly: not enough staff to provide adequate staff/patient ratio. This allows for lack of monitoring of patients and allows for issues to happen between patients when there should be no physical contact between patients but there was continuous reports of contact between patients.UPDATE:changed the score from 2 stars to 1 star as I keep hearing from other parents similar complaint about this place

Accepted Insurance

Sundance Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Animal therapy (aka pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy) can be very healing, as it allows patients to bond with animals, who give unconditional love. This is particularly useful for those who suffered trauma by the hands of people, who may be able to trust and form closer attachments to animals than humans at certain stages of rehabilitation.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I should ve listen to the reviews on this place. I was very ify on this place specially because it smells very bad in there. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I got a missed called from them with no voicemail and I called back and no one could figure out who called me they don t leave voicemails or notes for others to see what s going on. The lady in the mornings in the front just trash ! The boys and girls unit are together so the boys can go in the girls room Smh take your kids else.Someone else said the water is cold so the kids are taking cold showers and my daughter confirmed it0 communication skills0 lack of professionalism

If I could 0 stars, I would. Shameful place. It s more like a prison than a hospital. Staff literally told my grandson in front of me, there are cameras everywhere, as she pointed at them, you need to stop crying and they are watching you. He was not in there for behavior problems. He was in there for depression and suicidal thoughts. He was made to feel like hiding his emotions was what he was supposed to do. Needless to say, we took him out.

This place is unbearable. My son attended for just three days, and I had to pull him out. They kept him so sedated that I couldn t communicate with him. When I finally did get to speak with him, he revealed to me and his uncle that he was being hit. When we asked who was responsible, he mentioned a staff member and another child. He told me that a staff member slapped him in the face, and he was too scared to retaliate because of the cameras they warned him about. I was livid. When I went to retrieve my son, they tried to delay my departure for an entire day while they concocted a different narrative about what had occurred. The lack of professionalism here is astounding. When I requested to talk to my child, they put another child on the phone, thinking I wouldn t notice that it wasn t my son. My child pleaded with me not to send him back there. This experience has only added to his trauma, and now his teacher at school has raised new concerns. I would strongly discourage anyone from sending anyone here, not even a pet.

It was very hard to have to leave my child but he was in pretty good hands. They continued to help him through his obstacles instead of push him away. They made it an easy process and the security made me feel much better.
