About SunCloud Health Outpatient Treatment Center

SunCloud Health – Naperville Treatment Center offers substance abuse addiction treatment programs that help heal an individual's mind, body, and spirit. This addiction treatment center works alongside clients to ensure they feel empowered, supported, and cared for on their road to recovery and sobriety. Located in Naperville, Illinois, this drug rehab center accepts referrals and walk ins.

Those seeking drug and alcohol addiction treatment can enroll in one of the programs offered by SunCloud Health – Naperville Treatment Center. This drug rehab center specializes in providing help to those seeking recovery, so they offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and partial hospitalization program (PHP). Learn more about them below:

The partial hospitalization program (PHP) offered at this rehab center provides individuals with evidence based drug and alcohol addiction treatment in a hospital day treatment setting. Those enrolled in this program will be required to attend sessions five days a week for seven hours at a time.

However, this program is not for those requiring 24 hour inpatient support; how long a client remains in it will depend on their recovery needs. In addition, this program is known for providing dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, acceptance and commitment therapy, and 12 step groups.

At this addiction treatment center, patients can enroll in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that helps individuals achieve stability from drug and alcohol use. This IOP creates individualized treatment plans for patients that encompass developmental functioning, psychiatric diagnosis, family involvement, and community resources.

During treatment, individuals will have access to 12 step groups, individual and group therapy, and other therapy modalities that help clients return to an independent, functional, and healthy life. The length of stay is typically unique to the individual, but this IOP operates three to five days weekly.

Simply put, they will find any reason to keep you longer, even if it means digging for problems. Unfortunately, my experience was the staff finding things to benefit themselves as a company and employee rather than you as a patient or forgetting necessary things to move you on with your life, and when you express your grief as you are instructed per group therapy, your distress is brushed off as "treatment fatigue". And this wasn't just for me either as I witnessed this with multiple other people. There should also be consideration for more continuing education for certain, high-responsibility staff members as there were things that were said to me that were either just wrong or the information was entirely outdated. However, from what I've heard it seems to only be this location as I had a good experience with the residential Northbrook facility and was in contact with people from the Northbrook and LP php locations who had good experiences. Also, I wasn't told until after admission that this was a 90 day program, and the 90 days doesn't include any previous stacked rehabilitation stays, just to throw that out there.Overall I know everyone is human but I hope when a company is taking on the care of people at such a vulnerable time, changes can be made to maybe not find problems where there are none and instead search for solutions because how else does someone heal?

My experience at Sun Cloud Health in Naperville was deeply disappointing. Despite the site director, Sonja, having a background in neurology, she showed little interest in addressing my rare neuroimmune disorder, which plays a major role in my trauma. I expected more meaningful care, but what I got was a lack of engagement. While some staff genuinely care, they seem constrained by the organization s structure, preventing any truly therapeutic intervention. Group therapy is light-hearted, and participation is optional with no consequence if you don't engage. This is completely antithetical to a recovery environment, where accountability and commitment should be emphasized. This facility is focused on substance abuse mitigation, with almost daily urine testing and minimal depth in the therapy offered beyond "12 steps". For those dealing with complex trauma or seeking real therapeutic growth, this place is not it. Sun Cloud feels more like an adult daycare than a center for true recovery.

I found SunCloud by Googling different outpatient treatment centers Per the request of my therapist and went with them because of their ratings. I did not know what to expect when coming into SunCloud, but as soon as I walked in, I knew I was in the right place. I was in the Naperville location, and they have both an adolescent and adult side, which includes all ages. SunCloud provides food M, W, and F for lunch, which is highly convenient as it removes the stress of figuring out what you will eat and saves you money. The therapists, front desk, and RN staff are exceptionally kind and supportive. They all want the best for every person there and recognize even the most minor accomplishments. There is a daily 1.5-hour process group where it truly feels so safe and comfortable to share whatever is on your mind/you are going through.Peers provide feedback or listen if that is what you need. The therapists are good at prompting if you need them and always allow patients to choose whether they want to share. There are psych. Ed. Groups after lunch where we learn different DBT skills or play games to engage in mindfulness. You also meet with a therapist and psychiatrist once a week one-on-one in addition to groups. I have met some of the best people at SunCloud. There is nothing like being in a place full of people to recover or better themselves and accept each other with non-judgment and love. I created lifelong friendships, and being there even inspired me to get my masters in social work. I never wanted to leave. Whether you are struggling with substance abuse, grief, eating disorders, or complex trauma, the community is SO important. The support is unmatched. Once you graduate from the program, there is an alum and outpatient group, so the support never stops. I miss coming in every day! Thank you so much SunCloud!

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs provide a full continuum of care for clients who are exiting inpatient treatment. Though outpatient care is often considered an element of drug rehab aftercare, services typically continue for the remainder of the clients' life and long after formal treatment is completed. Clients work with their case managers and care team to formulate a customized portfolio of medical, mental health, and social service resources designed to evolve as the client's needs change.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants in 12 step programs focus on emotional, psychological, and spiritual growth as the foundation for long-term sobriety. They engage in regular 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, and accessible day and night, year-round, in most communities. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring from a self-selected sponsor. Though the 12 steps of recovery are based on spiritual principles, religious affiliation isn't required. Specialized formats are available, including programs for seniors, teens, and families.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Living in a sober living home in Illinois is a lot like living in a traditional home. Everyone must contribute to household chores and maintenance. All residents must work and pay rent. Individuals can mostly come and go as they please, but they must be home before curfew. Most men's and women's sober living homes also host house meetings where they resolve disputes, assign responsibilities, and welcome new residents.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Loved ones can utilize a drug intervention in Illinois to help with addressing a family member's problematic substance use. The goal of the intervention is to educate the individual about the negative effects of their substance use and encourage them to accept professional treatment. Intervention services can help families initiate this conversation and plan appropriate follow-up care, such as inpatient or outpatient rehab.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
During the medically supervised detox process, licensed medical professionals monitor your vitals and administer medications meant to help alleviate the physical symptoms of withdrawal. The process can take between five and seven days, although the actual length depends on your individual needs. In most cases, medically assisted detox is partially, if not fully, covered by insurance.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

During one on one therapy sessions for drug and alcohol addiction, you and your therapist work collaboratively to develop effective relapse prevention plans and improve your self awareness. This helps address your specific needs, including the effectiveness of several evidence based treatment modalities that may work best for you.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy provides you with a safe and supportive environment so you can address a traumatic experience. Your therapist helps guide you to understand your emotional, mental, and physical responses while developing healthier coping skills. This helps to improve your emotional resilience and ability to function in the community.

During couples therapy in Illinois, you may work on a variety of relationship challenges. Couples therapy can address topics such as finances, children, health, addiction, intimacy, external stressors, and family relationships. You'll develop tools to address these types of challenges in healthy ways.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

The use of nicotine replacement therapy in Illinois supplies your body with a small, controlled dose of nicotine without exposing it to the other harmful chemicals in cigarettes. This dose reduces withdrawal and satisfies cravings, so you can wean yourself off nicotine use.

I ll never forget the first day I walked into Suncloud. I was so nervous and didn t know what to expect. This is my first time ever going to an outpatient program. Everyone greeted me so warmly and made me feel so welcome that I was able to put my guard down. My time at Suncloud has changed my life for the better. I am now seven months sober from drug addiction, and I know I have the tools to help me get through things without using substances. Though everyone s timeline and journey at Suncloud is different, I did spend a good five months, five days a week, 3 to 4 hours a day. I was able to face, deal with, and conquer traumas from childhood up until adulthood. I didn t even realize they were traumas; I had them so tucked away and didn t even realize how much these things affected myself, which in return affected my whole family. I believe Suncloud has the best therapists and psychiatrists that I ve ever known in my life. Group therapy was the biggest impact in my life there at Suncloud. I thought, Why and how would I learn from other addicts? Wouldn t I be better off just working with professionals? The answer is, I learned more from group therapy about bouncing ideas off of one another, being able to relate to one another, and having empathy. I was encouraged to tell my story to others. I will be forever grateful for the impact that Suncloud had on mine and my family s lives. Today being seven months clean, I now have the skills not to run away from hard things in life, but to face them, learn from them, and grow every day. Thank you Suncloud.

I am extraordinarily grateful to the staff at SunCloud. The staff members all were so kind, genuine, skillful, non-judgmental, and very patient. My family member didn t want to get treatment for mental health and addiction issues. The founder, the clinical staff and the reception staff - each and every person treated us all with respect and dignity while speaking the truth about what was recommended. They knew exactly what he needed from the first time he was assessed (he refused treatment recommendations). They were patient and assessed him each time I brought him, knowing they weren t getting paid for all the time spent trying to help him. They were just as committed to truly helping him. I m also a therapist who refers clients to assessments, and SunCloud was better than the competitors. Thanks to the staff at SunCloud.

I will always recommend SunCloud for my patients who need a higher level of care. The SunCloud model is one of a kind and seems to work for almost everyone. The staff is professional, friendly, helpful and accommodating from admission process all the way through discharge. I also appreciate the quick response and turn around during the referral process. SunCloud is also a great resource for other professionals in the field, they often host CEU's with other providers on a variety of topics. If you are considering their program for yourself or as another provider, I would highly recommend reaching out!

I m so very thankful for my 2 months at Suncloud Health Naperville recently. Within my first two days, I felt hope rising after being in the hardest episode of grief and depression in my life. From listening to other patients share their experiences and wisdom (then sharing mine), to learning many new skills and steps from staff in educational sessions, I had many light bulb/aha moments of my own. Process groups were transformative and life changing for me.You will make years worth of progress in a short amount of time due to the full-time, intensive nature of the program. A great place to receive and share compassion in group and individual sessions. They also provide various support group opportunities to attend outside of daily programming hours.Lastly, they specialize in treating co-occurring disorders, which is unique and was perfect for me instead of focusing on putting out one fire at a time, you can be treated for all of them at once.

Lies. Brainwashing. Misdiagnoses. And money-hungry employees. Was lied to during the onboarding process and pressured into joining due to "limited space".5 other people joined within 1 week of me starting. Was also misinformed about the duration of the program. I was told 4-6 weeks. After clarifying MULTIPLE times. Once I begin the program, I discover it is not 6 weeks, not 8 weeks, but a 3 MONTH program. The care is not individualized. This is adult daycare. Process groups and other educational groups consisting of nearly 30 people... don't expect to see any progress for a LONG TIME. This is intentional-- the longer you stay, the more money you pay, the more money they make. When confronted about the lack of attention to care, they respond with "healing takes time", and every other excuse under the sun.Beware of being shamed in front of the large group and pressured into eating (even if you are full) if they are suspicious about you developing an eating disorder (that has not been diagnosed). The lobby that you see before you commit to the program appears happy, sunny, and like a proper space to heal from trauma and mental health struggles. However, behind the closed doors of the rooms that program actually takes place in, you will be greeted with dimly lit, bare-walled, dusty, depressing rooms. Ask to view these rooms before committing to the program, they will tell you that you can't...Therapists/Professionals are uneducated and behind on new research/terminology on basic mental health issues. Also described depression as being an "addiction to sadness". This is not a safe space to those on the spectrum, highly-sensitive persons, and other newly researched disorders.Overall, this may be a good program if you are looking for a safety net. A place to reside in for months, in the comfortability of waiting for the day you will finally be "healed". But, as the professionals at SunCloud told me before I left, "these are disorders you cannot recover from, only learn to cope".
