About Starlite Recovery Center

Starlite Recovery Center is in Center Pointe, Texas. It’s an addiction treatment facility that offers help to adults struggling with substance abuse. They treat addictions to alcohol, prescription drugs and illicit drugs. They’ve been in operation for over 65 years. The treatments available at this facility include detox and treatment for co-occurring disorders. Clients have the option of participating in either the intensive outpatient (IOP), residential treatment (IP) or partial hospitalization program (PHP).

In addition to these programs, patients can also be a part of specialty programs, such as the Christian addiction recovery program and the LGBTQ+ recovery program. Starlite accepts payment from most major private health insurance providers, including TRICARE.

What strikes me about this location is how many unique ways they seek to help individuals dealing with substance abuse. They understand that different groups of people may have different needs when it comes to how to treat their addiction. Starlite has a program specifically tailored to the military. They use trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help them heal from the emotional toll of military life that may have led them to use substances.

Likewise, in their first responders program, they have a team of former first responders who help first responders who have an addiction problem. These staff members are able to relate to their patient’s experiences and provide them with genuine empathy and support.

Starlite Recovery Center also stands out for providing assistance with a variety of different drug addictions. Clients can receive treatment tailored for addictions to stimulants, opioids, meth and many other substances. If patients are unable to receive treatment in person, they offer telehealth to allow clients to receive assessments and outpatient programming from the comfort of their homes.

Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Residents of a sober living home in Texas reside at the halfway house with others who have agreed to abstain from substances and practice sober-living skills. The relationships and accountability formed here can help individuals strengthen their mental health and achieve long-term recovery. Residents share common spaces such as kitchens and back yards, share meals together, and share household responsibilities such as cooking and cleaning.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

A drug intervention in Texas may be necessary if your loved one is in denial about a substance use disorder. You can partner with intervention services to plan and execute an effective intervention that educates your loved one about addiction and encourages them to get the treatment they need. Many rehab centers offer intervention specialists who can facilitate the intervention and help with a seamless transition to inpatient rehab for treatment.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Texas provides a safe environment for medical detox. This setting is crucial to provide medical care during withdrawal. Certain withdrawal symptoms can cause life-threatening conditions, but patients in a supervised clinical setting have treatment readily available to address any symptoms before they become severe. Treatment can also be provided for co-occurring physical and mental health issues.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. Starlite Recovery Center offers a medically monitored environment.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Treatment that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach focuses on four strategies. Distress tolerance will help you accept and tolerate intense emotions. Emotional regulation will teach you to manage those emotions. Mindfulness will keep you in the present moment instead of regret or worry. Interpersonal effectiveness will teach you to manage your relationships.

equine-therapy iconEquine Therapy

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

All clients engage in a number of group sessions each week with their assigned process group. Group sessions are held for at least an hour and a half each day and focus on issues that have been identified by either the clients themselves or by their counselor. There are a number or different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

All Starlite clients meet with their primary counselor at least once a week for individual counseling and personalized treatment planning. Individual sessions offer a number of benefits, including helping an individual better understand their addiction to alcohol.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

I will start off this review by saying Starlite Recovery Center literally saved my life.I went to Starlite after trying to detox my self off alcohol, I went to Starlite after two days of trying the process myself and I went downhill real quick and had to be sent to hospital and spent the next 5 days in ICU, I was readmitted to detox after my stay in hospital, I was treated with the upmost care. The staff at Starlite is topnotch, everyone from nursing staff to counselors and cafe staff all care about the patients well being and recovery, I would recommend Starlite to anyone struggling with addiction.Best,NPG

I was there 15 1/2 years ago. It was not my first rodeo. I am still sober today. I d say that was one heck of a commendation! Things look different today in the pictures, but if the core of the program is the same I surely recommend.

Towards the end of my time here they opened a sales store shop selling convenience items like an amusement park - including hats and T-shirts. Direct contact with staff there was distant with all but 1.

I called Starlite yesterday and talked to some young guy who said he would have someone call me back. I haven t heard from them since. I know Starlite is about money, since they re corporate owned . But you figure if they cared , they would at least call back. If you actually need help, I would suggest calling another place, or go to a hospital.

Just reflecting back on my time there. I got treated horribly by some of the counselors and staff. I forgot their names because it was 2 years ago. I'm doing great now, but not because of this place.

I received too notch treatment there. Their trauma approach is cutting edge and I was treated with dignity and respect at all times. Everyone was so nice, from the cafeteria staff to the CEO. If I could list and thank everyone by name this post would be a mile long! I feel like I got what I needed to live a sober life. The ropes course, volleyball court, mini golf course, pickelball court, gym, walking track, and on site therapy animals were amazing. They also had a treatment building for first responders, law enforcement, active duty, and veterans.Thank you to my counselor Teresa. You rock!!!!!!! Thank you Starlite!!!!
