Individuals with acute substance use disorders may have a physical dependency on the substance and experience withdrawal symptoms when stopping using the substance. Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center has a detox program to help alleviate sometimes uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms using FDA approved medications. Detox is offered for alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids. Along with managing withdrawal symptoms, clients benefit from recovery education classes and peer support programs. Same day services are available.

The fully integrated dual-diagnosis program treats addiction and/or other co-occurring conditions using evidence based practices. The program includes a clinical assessment, individualized treatment planning, individual and group therapy, relapse prevention techniques, skill building, coping skills, group therapy, and case management. Psychiatric services are provided by addiction psychiatrists who work with the treatment team and support patients with medication to promote overall well being. Sessions are held several days per week, depending upon the individual’s circumstances.Â
The Narcotics Treatment Program is for adults over the age of 18 with opioid use disorder. The comprehensive addiction treatment program includes the use of medication in combination with counseling and support groups in an outpatient setting. As clients progress and stabilize, in-person office appointments tend to become less frequent.Â
The family centered approach at Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center also supports pregnant people with substance use disorders. Treatment may begin during pregnancy and postpartum or commence in the postpartum stage. The goal is to provide comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care, in combination with FDA approved medications and counseling, to achieve and sustain long term recovery.

Levels of Care
Outpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
Aftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
Intensive Outpatient
Persons who require high-level support but who do not wish to leave their homes or communities may enroll in an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Clients typically commit to a minimum of nine treatment hours across three therapeutic sessions per week, but many programs offer up to 20 hours of care weekly. Most intensive outpatient rehabs provide a combination of psychotherapy, recovery education, and holistic care. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is widely available for those in alcohol or opioid recovery.
Intervention Services
When families plan a drug intervention in Indiana, the goal is to create self-awareness in their loved one, so they acknowledge the need for treatment and get help. A professional interventionist can work with the individual's family members to organize this intervention and provide direction for follow-up. During the intervention, loved ones share how the individual's substance abuse has affected them, and the interventionist adds a clinical perspective on how treatment can help the situation.
