Accepted Insurance

Phelps Health Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehab enables clients to continue to work, attend school, or reside at home while undergoing treatment, including addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Evening, night, and weekend sessions are available at many facilities to ensure continuous access to care on the client's schedule. Many centers also offer ancillary services, such as career coaching and peer mentoring, to promote clients' sustained recovery and community integration. Higher-level outpatient treatment, including intensive outpatient (IOP) care, is also widely available.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehabs provide a safe, supportive environment for clients to focus on their recovery secure from outside distractions, stressors, and triggers. Clients receive housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision. They also engage in extensive addiction counseling, often including group and family therapy. Many programs prioritize recovery-focused life skills training to support clients' reintegration into their home, workplace, school, and community. Evidence-based holistic therapies, such as yoga, acupuncture, meditation, hypnotherapy, or animal therapy, may also be provided.
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs are designed to enable participants to understand and address the root causes of their addiction, accept responsibility for their life choices, and relinquish control over that which they cannot change. Participants are expected to regularly attend 12 step meetings and to be mentored in their recovery journey by a self-selected sponsor. Meetings are free, anonymous, and open to the public. A variety of formats are available, including programs for seniors, teens, family members, and nondenominational Christians.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image

Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image

A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

I went to Phelps County Regional Medical Center and I completely regret it, I felt like if I was only a number, nobody showed a real concern about me and my condition and that is why I decided to quit the program.

Not impressed whatsoever. I've called 3 times to speak to a patient and each employee has been tremendously rude and irritable. One man even hung up on me when he said he couldn't find the name of who I was looking for. And these people are helping our unstable family members? How scary.

I recently had a bad experience at phelps health. I wasnt going to post a review but I'm sharing in the hopes that things will change. On July 17th my 78 year old mother presented to the er with a prolonged migraine, vomiting, chest pain, and a systolic bp of 224. For anyone that doesn't know- "normal" is around 120-130ish.It took over 2 hours for her to get an ekg. They gave her some morphine and iv blood pressure medication and monitored her. I had to request more testing. Labs showed abnormal kidney function. Multiple phone calls and messages left were not responded to.She was finally admitted for observation and the er nurse documented that they had spoke to me, which they did not.On the floor, she continued to have vomiting, continued to have a migraine but her blood pressure slowly started to come down. However she still did not feel well. There were no orders to resume her iv fluids from the er.So for 12 hours, she had zero output, continued to vomit, and had the abnormal kidney function. I had to ask for fluids to be restarted. There was no documentation that she was vomiting although nursing administered Zofran. When I visited her in the hospital, I noted that her iv infiltrated which means that it was no longer in her vein and the fluid was causing some swelling on her arm. When I told her nurse, the nurse said- "well, obviously."She had no further testing and the physician kept wanting to discharge her until a physician in her pcps office called to speak to him.I had to request a cardiology consult to which the attending "did not think was necessary"I had to advocate for her because her case was not being taken seriously. Was it serious ? Well after some follow ups from her pcp months later we find that she has multiple *new* aneurysms on her brain. And unfortunately because of staffing shortages, the referral to neurosurgery has also been delayed. The standard of care at phelps health is abysmal. If you choose to go there, I hope you're lucky.Lucky that the staff listens to you and doesn't write you off.Lucky to get adequate testing. The hospital worked really hard 10-15 years ago to fight a bad reputation then and up until recently had executives that cared.Now. It's a gamble. Good luck.

Took my sister in at 7 pm after she suffered a fall and hit her head. The were so concerned about her C-spine that they put a hard neck collar on her. But not concerned enough to give her immediate treatment. Took them 7 hours to send her to X-ray. Oh and the x-ray tech forced her to move unassisted. Refused her support....mind you she is in a C-Collar because they were worried about her having possible spinal fractures.....and the x-ray tech refused to get her assistance to move.......oh I hate this hospital. I have so many other examples but not enough room. If you need care close to Rolla, please go to Missouri Baptist in Sullivan. Or literally any where but here. BTW, it's now 2:44am and we are still in the hospital
