About Park Royal Hospital

Park Royal Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida is an inpatient mental health center for adolescents, adults, and seniors. They specialize in the treatment of mental illness and co-occurring addictions offer medically assisted detox to patients in a secure clinical setting featuring round the clock monitoring and support.

They also offer partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs for those who don’t need residential care. As a full behavioral health and psychiatric center, patients can find help for schizophrenia, PTSD, suicidal ideation, and other conditions.

Their RESTORE program for treating substance abuse and drug addiction relies on abstinence and education, which includes group therapy and 12 step groups. They also treat Adjustment Disorder, which helps people who may be going through a stressful or major life event find health and healing without resorting to drugs or alcohol.

A great thing about them is their program for geriatric patients, which is particularly useful for meeting the unique needs of people ages 65 and older and retired members of the community.

They provide online bill pay as well as the option to pay with insurance. They also have a needs based financial assistance program that some patients may qualify for to help cover the treatment cost. Prior clients have mixed opinions about the facility. While some are very happy to have received care, others are less satisfied with the quality of the service.

I had two experiences with Park Royal back in 2015. Voluntarily checked myself in due to self harm and depression/grief/loss. They still did electroshock therapy. The doctor asked me what I had been diagnosed with previously and took my word for it and said "ok, if that's what gets me to my next customer quicker, will do." then laughed and i never saw them again. Then I found out they didn't write anywhere on my chart it was trauma/ptsd/adhd. They also didn't catch my autism diagnosis. What they did was shove meds into my body that made me want to just lay down. Gave me crayons, decaf coffee, a composition notebook, and offered coloring pages as "occupational therapy" unsupervised in a day room...the pages were printed on the blank reverse side of PATIENT CHART DOCUMENTS AND BILLING SHEETS!!!The partial hospitalization program was a joke. The ice queen therapist in charge of group would talk down to us constantly. The only good thing about that place was the 2 friends I made. When I left, I was on so many drugs...I couldn't even walk or stand without almost falling over. This was while I was in college, working on my medical coding degree. Irony.Shut this place DOWN!

I do not recommend this hospital. While admitted as a patient, I got called ugly by one of the staff members. They are rude and narcissistic. They yell at patients and are disgusting.

Accepted Insurance

Park Royal Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs encompass multiple levels of care to facilitate clients' progress through their recovery journey. Clients who are stepping down from inpatient treatment may require intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, which involves more frequent and substantive therapeutic interventions than does standard outpatient care. Outpatient centers typically provide extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Medication assisted treatment programs (MAT) and recovery-focused life skills training are also common in outpatient care.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. The average stay is 10 days, but can vary, with two to 30 days.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don't require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for ~ 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals. The typical length of stay in PHP averages between two and six weeks. However, the actual amount of time that an individual spends in programming may vary depending on his or her unique needs.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. Park Royal Hospital is pleased to offer detoxification, or detox, treatment as a program option to patients who are struggling with chemical dependency.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Recreational therapy helps you recover from addiction by giving you structured activities that promote your physical health and mental well being. These activities could range from sports and fitness to creative arts and provide a constructive outlet for your emotions and stress.

My son had to wait 3 hours for the admission process, and no one was there at 6 am. I told someone in the reception that my son needs to go lay down, he wasn't feeling well and need to go to the floor. We had been here for 3hrs and everything was done. She answered yelling at me " the patient doesn't decide when is time to go to the floor, we tell him when". Really, what kind of business this place is. Definitely, not patient and family oriented.

This was by far the worst psych ward I've ever been in it was terrible the shower burned the shit outta me and the employees told me I was faking my illness previously diagnosed by real medical doctors. However I must highly recommend that Daniel Lopez and Will get promoted they were nice to me while all the rest were garbage I also met new freinds too. If Daniel Lopez meets me on the outside I'm a high iq person and a peer support specialist who just came here to get help we could be Buddies in the real world I feel like because of my feild of study and work.

This place is a prime example of what is wrong in the healthcare system in America today. This is supposed to be a mental health hospital everybody from staff, administration, doctors, and any other form of employee is a laughable joke at this establishment. I do not recommend this place, however, unfortunately in southwest Florida, they know they can be a crappy existence of an establishment because there s only one other hospital more than 60 miles away that accept geriatric cases. There are not caseworkers who attempt to help the family set up follow up care or attempt to help the families make the transition more feasible or successful for the patient., and The doctors who establish care with patients do not deserve their medical license. It is very clear they don t care And this is evidence by the consistent refusal to help family with a suicidal geriatric patient and when they have their appointment, they don t listen. For example, the patient had an and this is evidence by the consistent refusal to help family with a suicidal geriatric patient and when they have their appointment, they don t listen. For example, the patient had an appointment told the doctor he wasn t sleeping, didn t feel well and felt like there were changes happening that needed to be addressed , and the doctor said OK, great. Sounds like everything s going good we ll see you in another six weeks and we have a family had to step in at the appointment and call the doctor out who then nonchalantly said oh I ll just call a medicine, but the medicine they called in is in his chart that he can t take this medication because of what happens to his body . Hey, but I guess they don t get paid to care. I really feel the healthcare system in America is only as good as the amount of money that you have. I honestly wish I could give this review a negative star rating or a zero star rating , but it s not possible. Do yourself a favor and if you actually want to help your loved ones avoid this place at all costs. Avoid their staff, their doctors, their treatment, their services, and for the love of God supply this facility money shut it down. It only takes one person to make a change.
