The worst place to put any family member. My stepdad was admitted here, and when he came home he was dehydrated and had bedsores. This shows a complete lack of proper care and attention. Families trust facilities to take care of their loved ones, and what happened to him is unacceptable. ALERT. ALERT. ALERT. 🚨🚨🚨🚨

I strongly discourages admitting loved ones to this mental health hospital, citing a lack of compassion toward patients and concerns about elderly individuals being overmedicated. My husband hasn’t been in here for two weeks. Now he’s in wheelchair. the hospital shows little to no empathy from staff and physicians, overmedicates elderly patients, and lacks compassion overall. They strongly believe the facility should be shut down

Accepted Insurance

Park Royal Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs encompass multiple levels of care to facilitate clients' progress through their recovery journey. Clients who are stepping down from inpatient treatment may require intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, which involves more frequent and substantive therapeutic interventions than does standard outpatient care. Outpatient centers typically provide extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Medication assisted treatment programs (MAT) and recovery-focused life skills training are also common in outpatient care.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. The average stay is 10 days, but can vary, with two to 30 days.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don't require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for ~ 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals. The typical length of stay in PHP averages between two and six weeks. However, the actual amount of time that an individual spends in programming may vary depending on his or her unique needs.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. Park Royal Hospital is pleased to offer detoxification, or detox, treatment as a program option to patients who are struggling with chemical dependency.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Recreational therapy helps you recover from addiction by giving you structured activities that promote your physical health and mental well being. These activities could range from sports and fitness to creative arts and provide a constructive outlet for your emotions and stress.

Jane is an angel! She really helped my son. She took an interest in making sure that he was okay. Park Royal gave us a glimmer of hope. They adjusted his medication, and he was a different person (for the better) after leaving there.

Extremely rude front desk nurse Kelly. I received a call from staff at 2am when I was asleep and asked to call the number back. When I did, I was transferred to nurse Kelly. I understand hippa laws and that they cannot confirm or deny if someone is there but I asked why I was told to call back and then not given any answers. She didn’t put me on hold or try to find out what was going on. Instead, she was passive aggressive and hung up on me. I called back and explained my frustration, a career as a nurse might not be for her if she cannot even have patience or empathy. I hope her supervisor (she said was named Debbie) corrects this immediately because that is scary knowing your loved one is in a facility with someone like that treating them! One star because I did receive a call back from my loved one. Beware!

I am the mother of a teenager who recently spent 5 days in the hospital and I feel absolutely grateful for the work you do. My son told me that the entire staff was always very loving and understanding with him. The professionals were always in communication with me. Every time I called to check on my son, they gave me a kind response. Thank you very much for everything.

When people asked me if I was not scare of being put under general anesthesia three times a week for four weeks. In reality, my biggest fear was continuing to be a living dead. I was tired and so depressed that I didn’t had the energy to hurt myself. I know it’s funny, but it is the truth. I was used to the sadness and simply not being able to be happy, but when the anxiety kicked in, I thought I was not going to make it. I was jittery all the time. My speech started to suffer and I started stuttering. I felt my heart in my throat on the regular. I couldn’t complete any phrase without having a panic attack in my brain. Did I mention all I do at work is talk to customers over the phone? I needed to take a leave of absence, recommended by my manager at that time. In April 2025, I returned to Park Royal Hospital, where I was Baker Acted and admitted 6 years ago and stayed for 7 days. In this escenario I wanted to be part of group to hear others deal with their ghosts. I attended a couple of days, but was pulled aside by two angels that God sent my way: Dayana and Melanie. They evaluated me and introduced me to the ECT or Electroconvulsive Therapy. KEEP READING! Yes. It’s therapy with electricity, BUT it has given me a new desire to stay alive and repurpose myself. There is openness in my thoughts. There is still the tendency to miss being sad and feeling guilty, but now I can say that it is OK not to be sad and don’t feel guilt about it. Dayana, thanks for leading my journey. “I have seen miracles happen there”. Since day one I believed in the treatment because of the passion and care in your voice. “We're going to take away those sad little eyes”, you said, looking at me with a level of compassion that changed everything for me. You are the boss and the heart of that unit. My eyes are remembering how to smile.😊 Melanie, your level of care, your diligence and your kind nature soothes the nervousness and anxiety for the unknown. Hearing you greet everybody by their name and celebrating that we made it to treatment is encouraging and inspiring. No surprise you have that Dominican blood. 🇩🇴 Dr. Seike, you and your humor is a fresh sip of water in the formula. You ask the questions and pay attention so I know what’s happening next. You made me want to wear shoes more often. 👟 Dr. Aleem, your demeanor projects in me the confidence of a person, not a doctor, a person who has invested their life in looking into this edgy treatment to make people’s life better. I feel calm and at peace with you treating me. I see the satisfaction of my progress in your subtle smile. Thank you. ❤️ Mike, I enjoy our conversations about our kids and I can feel your love for yours on how you defend them even from your own comments. You always show excitement about anything new that I share. I really value that. 💪🏻 Peggy, you are a light and If you ever felt that I was the one shinning, remember the relationship between the moon and the sun. You help a sad gray rock to be seen as shinny. Thank you for all the love you express when you speak. I have felt it and I have treasured every single word. ☀️ Karen, you and I know that my sickness is not only physical, but also spiritual. You added another dimension to my time in the hospital and really challenged me to keep my faith. I enjoy every conversation because of your attention to details and wise words. Oh, no adhesive please. 🤣 Zane, it makes me happy every time you are the one looking for me in the lobby. I feel cared for and I value how you make sure I am comfortable every step of my treatment. I treasure our chats in the parking lot when I am super loopy and we are just waiting confused as of why the Uber is not here if they said 5 minutes. You are admirable. My veins pop just to see you coming with the IV. 💉 Tyrah, you’re cool and super easy going. Quiet, but checking all the boxes to build your career. That’s inspiring and it makes me know I’m in good hands. Thank you. 🤓

I was Baker acted but rightfully so I own that part but Parkroyale fills at every bit of their mission statement number one they do not keep people safe. I could have a list go on and on and on at all the failures at this place, the one shining light in between all this is the BHA tax, Shavi Lewis, Q, Bob, Dan, Sandra, and so many more that have true compassion for what they do if I could rate the BHJ text alone 20 out of 20 but as far as Parkroyale they’re filling at their basic fiduciary duties to keep people safe to even provide safe food And if you get frustrated with their incompetency or frustrated with cold, dry food, they’ll claim you get agitated and extend your stay. It’s like human trafficking at the extreme then when they release you, they really don’t care they release you with no money no place to go and you can’t even use your phone until you’re released. There’s no like transition. This place has a lot of work to do and they’re failing it many things.

Zero stars if I could but it is not an option. This facility is using the Bakers Act to milk money out of insurance companies. Some staff members are there for the patients but the people running the facility are all about the money. If your loved one is brought in on a Bakers Act, if you have insurance, they will petition for an involuntary extension without telling patient and without informing you. I know, they told your love one they would be out in less than 72 hours, not likely true. Hire a lawyer! Read the Article in New York Times on Acaida Park Royal Rehab. Good luck and God Bless!
