Accepted Insurance

Northside Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Program for Substance Use (IOP) is a time-limited, multifaceted treatment service for adults requiring structure and support for recovering from substance related disorders. This program includes: state of art co-occurring disorder treatment, didactic presentations and psychoeducational information, psychiatric services, intensive individual therapy, group therapy and family counseling. Each client has an individualized recovery plan that includes a full continuum of services within a single system.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Finally got my friend who is an addict to come in and they let her sit in the waiting room detoxing for 3 1/2 hours before she couldn’t take it anymore and wanted to leave. Nobody tried to make her stay. They couldn’t care less.

After several therapies they told me my insurance was not good for them. Now I owe them lots of money because they did not mention that beforehand. This center is a scam.

Been waiting for over three hours in emergency room they have brought back everyone that came in AFTER us and we tried leaving and they lied about us being next and we are STILL waiting when that was 30 min ago . Cause apparently a possible brain hemorrhage isn t as important as a cough or constipation travel to a different hospital if it s an emergency.

Labor & Delivery Incident with MEGAN, CHARGE NURSE CARRIE AND Dr. Higgins.I was sent to the Women s Center/ Labor and Delivery due to me being 8 days postpartum, which I delivered my child via cesarean. Upon arrival at the ER I was immediately taken back to a room due to my high blood pressure levels sky rocketing. Once I was placed in a room in the ER they had my blood pressure being checked via machine every 15min because it was spiking and fluctuating drastically. However, the doctor decided that I would do better over in Labor and Delivery since another big part of my problem was the preeclampsia and he thought that could be driving my blood pressure levels up still.I arrived at the Women s Center or Labor and Delivery, and was met by Megan her work cell number for that night, October 2nd night shift, was 45296. This is where the problem began. She was awful, nasty, condescending, and she knew she could say whatever she wanted HOW she wanted without any repercussion, and she did just that! To be spoken to like a child because I used their blood pressure machine ONCE to check my blood pressure, which they were NOT monitoring upon my arrival, was concerning. Though she had checked it once I felt it had gone back up and decided just to make sure I was safe. Megan felt that her one time was good enough, and as she stated I checked it and it s fine! Even after explaining that my blood pressures fluctuate and that I was admitted to Northside September 30th due to blood pressure fluctuating. So, feeling how I felt I decided to hit the blood pressure button on their machine to see if I was okay and sure enough my blood pressure had spiked! Megan came into the room aggressively and stated DON T TOUCH MY MACHINE AGAIN , which left me puzzled. I decided to bring this to the doctor s attention, while she was in the room and proving me right! She spoke to me and continued to yell, state that she did in fact have an attitude, rolled her eyes ECT all in front of the doctor. She became so uncontrollable with her temper that her charge nurse, (Carrie) stepped in and had her leave the room. Carrie immediately had her back and stated I was in the wrong. Dr. Higgians witnessed this behavior as well; including her charge nurse Carrie and they backed up her bad behavior. Dr Higgians and Carrie the charge nurse made it known that I shouldn t have touched the machine to check my fluctuating blood pressure, and that I was deserving of that treatment and behavior displayed by Megan. Megan s attitude was as arrogant as it was because she knew she would be backed even if she is in the wrong. I didn t deserve to be spoken to like a child because of me wanting to know my blood pressure. I didn t deserve to continue to be spoken to in a nasty manner in front of staff, and it shouldn t have been supported by her superiors. Her superiors made it known due to the handling that they were siding with her. The charge nurse and doctor blamed me and I personally feel that if I don t say something she will continue to display this behavior because she is in a position of power over a patient. I tried to leave because I no longer trusted individuals that would see someone be so awful and rude then proceed to act like it didn t matter. I no longer felt safe with them. It didn t help that the charge nurse Carrie continued to attempt to force me to sign a medical waver stating that if I leave then it s against their advice while letting me know that she didn t care if I walked out of there, she just wanted that paper signed. Extremely scary that she is a charge I hope that I will never have another experience like this again. No one is deserving of that sort of treatment. (Update)Dr. H did call me personally to give me my lab results, which was different. He called twice. The results could have been posted on the patient portal. He called to give me my He acknowledged that I shouldn t have been spoken to in that manner. I appreciated the apology.

My son went to the ER with severe stomach pain. They sent him home without doing any test but labs. The labs came back abnormal. He gets a hida scan on Tuesday i am sure it is his gallbladder. I called to complain and the person who answered the phone in the ER said sorry you feel that way and hung up on me.

I delivered my fourth child here just last week and I would recommend it to anybody who is considering this hospital for delivering their children. They respectfully honored everything I asked for in my birth plan and made me feel like I was the only patient there. My delivery nurse, Joanna Sturgis was an absolute angel. Anything I asked, she jumped at the opportunity to serve me. If I didn't know what I wanted, she made several suggestions that were exactly what I needed at the time. I am so grateful for my experience here!

This review is specifically written as it relates to my experience following my 7-day stay at Northside Hospital Cherokee between November 16th and November 23rd, 2024. (rm #7224)I was admitted to the hospital on the 16th with severe pain to my right leg. After multiple days as a patient, it was determined I had contracted a Staf infection which created an absest and build up of fluid. That is what was causing the severe pain. After this determination, a C/T assisted procedure was performed which drained 85ml of fluid from my leg and left a surgical drain to allow any additional fluid to drain. My antibiotics were adjusted to specifically treat the Staf infection. The day of my discharge, an additional line called a "mid-line" was installed by a specialize team to allow me to receive my antibiotics for the next three weeks by visiting the Infusion Center at Northside. So, upon discharge, I was given two pieces of direction. One, go to the infusion center to receive my antibiotics via the "mid-line" installed in my left arm. Two, contact Dr. Dua's office for any issues with the surgical drain.Unfortunately, this is where the story takes an and unfortunate turn. This turn, in my opinion is placing my health at risk. The infusion center and the process of getting my antibiotics has been very good. They check my line upon each visit and change my dressing every seven days. I'm also asked routinely about any issues I may be experiencing with the mid-line port. Overall, it's a good experience. The drain port, on the other hand, has turned into a problem. Unlike the infusion center, Dr. Dua's office won't talk to me or see me without a separate referal from the VA because I'm a veteran. Keep in mind that I was end the hospital as a result of my visit to the emergency room and not through a traditional referal.Because they don't have a referal, they won't even set an appointment to see me. When I reported that the flush I was told I should perform to the surgical drain to keep it clean was not working, they asked for a few pictures of the drain, but still refused to even have me come in for a visit to make sure the drain was working properly. Now 12-days after my discharge, I have a surgical drain which has not been maintained or functioning. How does that same patient with the same discharge and up with such extremely different level of care upon discharge? On the one hand, the Infusion Center has been amazing and I report in to the hospital daily where my mid-line is maintained and cared for. On the other hand, I have a surgial drain that I can't seem to receive any care for at all, despite reporting that the drain has stopped working.I contacted the radiology department where the procedure to install the surgical drain was installed and told about how things are differnet upon discharge and that I should contact the VA about getting a referral. That may make sense if I had not come into Northside via their emergency services which means that the VA doesn't have any records of my stay at this point and would not know what they were giving a referal for since they did not place the surgical drain or refer me to Northside. As I conclude this, I can only hope that the situation is resolved soon because it is very uncomfortable to have one part of me (mid-line and the Infusion Center) that's taken care of well while the other part of me (surgical drain) is neglected and possibly posing a health risk due to not being properly maintained. There has to be a better way to handle this. It should not be left to the patient to "figure out" how to receive care after they are discharged from Northside Hospital Cherokee. In conclusion, the hospital has done a lot of things right and that's what makes this issue stand out as such a glaring problem and one that prevents me from being here talking about the positive experiences I had during my stay. Hopefully, someone can address this issue so I can come back and update this review.Sincerely,Gerald
