About The Morton Center

The Morton Center is an intensive outpatient program in Louisville, Kentucky. They work with people of all ages, including adults, adolescents and children. They use a 12 Step model to guide you and your loved ones through recovery from substance use.

They offer a conventional intensive outpatient model for adults. Their adult intensive outpatient program has convenient evening hours that will allow you to continue working. They use group and individual therapy sessions to help you learn how to live in recovery.

The other programs they offer are meant to support you before, after and during your treatment. For example, if you’ve completed the intensive outpatient program and you have some recovery time under your belt, you can take advantage of their recovery maintenance groups. If you’re not sure if you need help, they have evaluation services that can help you clarify your needs. If you’ve decided you need help but don’t have an appointment anywhere, they take walk ins.

Their work with children and adolescents focuses on helping them heal from the effects of substance use in their families. They work with kids in their own program while their parents complete the adult program. Their adolescent and children’s programs are noteworthy because they consider the children within their family unit, and they work to treat the whole family. Play therapy and expressive art help children express themselves in a safe space.

The charitable arm of their organization raises funds that support their goal of turning away no one for lack of means to pay. They are a Better Business Bureau accredited charity.

They accept a wide array of commercial insurance coverage options. You can also use some forms of managed Medicaid. Military service members, veterans and their families may also be able to get help from them because they work with TRICARE. With any plan, always verify your coverage before committing to any services.

Most of the reviews about them are from people who felt they were friendly and helpful. Some reviewers felt their experience here changed their lives for the better.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehab is designed primarily for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those in crisis situations that may increase their risk of relapse. Clients reside at the inpatient treatment center for the length of the program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Inpatient treatment typically includes 24-hour clinical care and extensive addiction counseling and recovery education using CBT, DBT, RBT, motivational interviewing or other psychotherapeutic approaches.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

12-step icon12-Step

Participants in 12 step programs attend regular group meetings, which are free, anonymous, and open to the public. Most communities offer multiple meetings daily, with specialized formats, including programs for seniors, teens, and families, widely available. 12 step recovery prioritizes participants' spiritual, emotional, and psychological growth and healing to support their sustained sobriety. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring from a self-selected sponsor as they work through the 12 steps of recovery.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Often beneficial for individuals who don't require 24-hour supervision, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) can be an alternative to inpatient rehab or a transitional option. PHP treatment typically involves 6 to 8 hours of treatment per day, up to 5 days a week for an average of 90 days. PHP treatment often includes relapse prevention strategies, medication management, and other behavioral therapy interventions. While the cost of a partial hospitalization program can vary, it is often covered by insurance.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Medical detox is the process of weaning your body off addictive substances in a medically supervised environment. An on-site medical team may include physicians, nurses, therapists, and other clinical staff whose job it is to monitor your vitals and provide medications if necessary to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. Their goal is to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible throughout the process.. Medically assisted detox programs are individualized to meet your specific needs and can vary in length, but they tend to last 5-7 days.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Kentucky often starts with detox, then includes inpatient or outpatient treatment, and continues with aftercare support. Specific methods used during each of these phases varies, but often include individual and group counseling, medication, and recreational therapies.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

This allows you to identify any discrepancies in your current situation and your future goals, which can motivate you to make changes.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

They take a long time to be able to attend, they must be an hour before so they can attend you and they still make you wait a long time.

"Restoring Self, Preserving Family"Strong words, a Morton Center action plan. For me -- a gift "my life."Addiction is a powerful enemy. It robs one of the value of "Choice." The Morton Center IOP program help me regain my understanding of this value: Choice. They provide a safe environment for me to process my situation, discuss my concerns, and challenged me to build a recovery plan that will reestablish Choice. The Morton Center does not "rid one" of the addiction. It provides one with the tools to FIGHT the addiction. Believe you me this is a "DAILY" fight. For me, "One Day At A Time" is the only way. Still in early recovery, the path is not easy. The energy necessary to Fight On, for me comes from the fellowship and care I continue to receive from the Morton Center, Reestablishing my walk with God, Various AA meetings around town, some old friends and some new ones. My FAMILY is my rock -- they have been nothing but amazing. The Morton Center will help one start the journey of recovery. The hardest step for my journey was just getting started! The Morton Center is where I started and who has helped me Restore Self and Preserve Family.Todd -- Alcoholic: 157 Days Sobriety6/21/2023
