About McLeod Centers For Wellbeing

McLeod has an outpatient clinic in Hickory, North Carolina. They have services for adults who need intervention, treatment, or support concerning drug and alcohol addictions. There’s also a DUI program and classes for offenders under court order.

The outpatient program is a mix of group therapy, family meetings, and education classes. You’ll have a chance to examine underlying mental health conditions that might influence your behavior. There’s also tips on how to prevent relapse, and you’ll enroll in a 12 Steps program to get peer support outside the clinic.

They also have medication assisted treatment for those who struggle with alcohol or opioids. If you’re having trouble with cravings, you’ll get meds that can make your sobriety much easier.

If you’ve been convicted of a first offense drug charge, they have an education program that can fulfill some court requirements. There’s a class that runs 15 hours on drug education and another on behavioral health that runs for 12 hours. By taking these classes, you can learn new skills and find healthier ways to cope with stress and anger. There’s another program for DWI. A case management program for offenders is also available. They’ll coordinate your care with social and legal services.

My counselor is wonderful. She honestly cares about me. Takes time to listen, she's understanding, gives advice and is very personable. The nurses are all so nice and they care about you too. The ladies that check you in, I love them. So very nice. Every person in the building is amazing. If you want help, they're there and will give you 100% of their time. I am so glad I decided to get my life together. The most, I'm glad I went there, to a place that really cares! Going there is the best decision I've ever made. So thankful for every single person there!!!Edit... one reason I stopped going is because they (nurses) are not fair to all patients. 2 test exactly the same and 1 gets weekly take homes and the other doesn't. It was 1 nurse that was the 1 that did it over and over. I love those people and they really did save me, but fairness in take home's isn't consistent.

Accepted Insurance

McLeod Centers For Wellbeing works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

There are many types of drug rehab in North Carolina. To receive treatment for addiction, you can choose from many inpatient and outpatient programs. Often, participants start with detox and work through a full continuum of care that continues with ongoing support for long-term recovery.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Honestly, this place has improved my quality of life so much. Are the rules a little annoying sometimes? Sure. I like to have a drink now and then and you re not supposed to at this place. But the counselors are so caring, helpful, and genuine, and the nurses are so kind and personable.

This place is absolutely trash , they wanna tell my boyfriend he wasn t approved for guest dosing at the beach when I went for 2 weeks and then when I m down there , he tells me he was never denied for guest dosing , they just wanted to make my vacation a living hell. They played rock paper scissors to see who dosed him. This place is trash. They ve had people die in their bathroom before , did you know methadone causes seizure s. They made him see a neurologist before. They were taking his dose away , and they want him to come back but he s not , he doesn t wanna take it anymore. It doesn t help you. It helps you die quicker.

I m 24 years old and today was my first day walking into a treatment center Or clinic. I was nervous and I felt ashamed and on top of everything I was going through withdrawals.I don t normally leave reviews. But I have to say they treated me so good. And made me feel so comfortable for my first time going in for intake. I ve been with online programs in the past and they worked great for me. But when I went in there the staff made me feel so welcomed to be there and the Dr. was so down to earth and was really understanding. They gave me a better option. I felt more support in this clinic then I have ever felt with my own family.Thank y all! To all the staff at McLeod. And if anyone out there that s reading this just know you are not alone. Take charge and take your life back. You have options. If you can spend 20 or more on street drugs a day. Then you can spend the flat rate of under $20 a day. I feel like myself again I know I can do thisand I know you can to! Break the cycle, you have other options. And they helped me get my hope and motivation back.Again thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart. It s never to late.
