Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs are typically community-based and peer-led, though many rehabs base their treatment models on this approach. Participants engage in regular 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, and accessible multiple times a day, 365 days a year in most communities. Participants are also mentored by self-selected sponsors who support them as they work through the 12 steps of recovery, which include addressing the causes of the disease, taking personal responsibility, and relinquishing control.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

While many people know it as "day treatment", a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers treatment during the day and allows you to live at home. PHP treatment typically requires a commitment of at least 20 hours of treatment every week, with a program duration that spans approximately 90 days. While commuting is necessary, some programs offer telehealth options. PHP treatment plans usually include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Michigan is essential for certain phases of recovery treatment. During detox, many physical ailments related to the detox process can be lethal if not treated. Having medical staff available at all times provides the proper care for safe detox. Medications and other treatment can also make the process much more comfortable and bearable.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

WARNING... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! As a professional in the area I would highly recommend you don't put your loved one in this hospital - disorganized, lack of communication, lack of discharge planning. Unsafe Discharge.. physician refuses to return calls. Refuse to have family meetings.

Lord help you if need help from the staff for anything. You are waiting an hour and half to 2 hrs if you even get what you need. Was here with my husband who had a stroke he couldn't move his left side. Couldn't get out of bed. If I wasn't here to do everything for him no one would. They come in to pass meds and that's it. I left at 5 pm one day and the family next to him had to help him cause no one came when he pressed the button for help. Had to come in the morning and change is bed they gave him an ice pack and it drenched the bed. No one came in til 10:45. I feel bad for people who are here by themselves. You could hear people calling for help and nobody would come or say hang on a minute. The food they give the patients are absolutely horrible.

I went in their this morning bc I was dropped off there bc I was lost and not from the area and I asked if I could use a phone because mine was dead when I arrived inside the nice elderly redirected me and said that someone in the emergency room would help get me to the phones to make a call before I attempted to make the call tho I used the bathroom and when I got out to go use the phone the rude older security guard told me I had to leave and when I explained what happened and why I was there he said he didn't care so then I politely ask him to leave me alone and then he calls some shorter bald guy and he grabbed me up by my bad arm and when I told him why I was there and explained to him that I had disabilities and asked him to call someone he threatened to severely hurt me

So I have been in recovery for almost 4 years. I am on methadone maintenance. This is one of the reasons why this is the worst hospital ever. I broke my tibia just under my knee cap. I needed surgery. I get back to my room, and the first day, my pain is barely managed. By the second day, there are no pain meds at all. If it was anybody else, they would have had a pain meds. I'm not drug seeking. I'm in excruciating pain. I've never been treated so bad in my life. I didn't even want to leave a rating star but it made me

Not a great experience thus far. My father was in a traumatic accident with a traumatic head injury. While in the ICU he was supposed to be getting vital signs taken every hour, but they were not. I discovered that they hadn't been checked in 5 hours, he was supposed to be getting neurological checks every hour he went 6 hours without a single check. The communication with some of the physicians was absolutely terrible and I was being told wrong information. Then they move him to a step down unit only 12 hours after being very concerned about his progressive brain swelling and put him in a room where there will be a roommate. HE HAS A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY! HE CANT HANDEL NOISE/AND LOUD SOUNDS/BRIGHT LIGHTS ANYTHING. HE NEEDS A QUITE RESTFUL ENVIRONMENT. AS THE PEOPLE OF THE HOSPITAL SHOULD KNOW THIS. IM SO DISGUSTED AT THE LACK OF COMPASSION AND THOUGHTFULNESS IN REGARDS TO THEIR PATIENTS HERE.Not to mention there cafeteria is the size of my kitchen, with no food to eat. I've gone days without eating while I'm here with him from. 8-8 because I feel like I can't leave him or he won't be taken care of.

A family member of mine was taken here by ambulance. When I arrived at the hospital I was turned away as he was having a CT scan. I asked if we could sit and wait and were turned away by the security guard at the door. I proceeded to drive back home and as I was almost home received a call from the doctor. The doctor advised me that YES I could have waited in the waiting area.In turn, drove back to hospital and was able to get my loved one home. The only reason I rated this hospital a three was of the doctor and nurse that took care of him. Otherwise, it would have been a ZERO!Nasty neighborhood with people lingering on the streets, scary!

Unfortunately the ambulance took my dad to McClaren. From day one I questioned his care of my 89 year old dad. Instead of taking care of him they drugged him so bad on Risperdol he couldn't function. They were going to release him on Wednesday but because there computers were hacked they couldn't. So they drugged him all week. When he was transferred to rehab to walk again the drugs remained in his system so he couldn't get physically therapy. The day the drugs finally wore off he died from laying in bed and not being moved around.

My friend is currently being held in the Behavioral Health Unit and hasn t had contact with a case manager or doctor since being admitted. . Her untreated wounds have led to a severe infection that will only get worse without proper care. Attempts by outside sources to reach higher authorities have been unsuccessful. Additionally, I ve learned of other patients walking around covered in their own feces and urine, and being mistreated by the staff and security guards. No human being should be treated this way!
