Coaching a person into labeling themselves as straight when they're openly bisexual is perverse. Coaching a person into drugs they're actively saying they don't want. Not good, when someone says they've been in trauma until a few days ago. Dr. Hall, I disapprove any further care from you, publicly. Dr. Hall. Sharing personal information with a patient suffering a mental health crisis is also pretty beat. My old therapist did that too. It's bad. Talk to your friends and YOUR head doctors about YOUR life.

I called in June to schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist, explicitly stating on the phone twice that it was for medication management and sharing that I had information from my genetic medication testing results. After waiting two months, l arrived at the office only to be told that it was a therapy appointment and that I wouldn't be able to see a psychiatrist until November. While the therapist was kind and apologized (it wasn't his fault), it was incredibly frustrating to have waited two months only to be told I'd have to wait another three months. Absolutely ridiculous. Make sure to reiterate multiple times what your appointment is for (which I did) and maybe even call a few extra times... I should have listened to the other one-star reviews and found another place.

Absolutely a disgrace of mental health practice. Nobody cares about helping people who is already affected by mental illnesses. They will not think twice before they take your money without providing the services that will make a difference. They should not be allowed to practice.

Accepted Insurance

Hunterdon Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients in a rehab aftercare program have typically completed detox and intensive inpatient and are medically stable. These programs are designed to address addiction recovery as a life-long process. Outpatient counseling and recovery education are typically categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive support after being discharged from formal outpatient treatment. Case managers and recovery teams facilitate clients' access to peer coaching, career counseling, 12 step program induction, and related services.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in New Jersey is more than a confrontational conversation. This organized effort is specific and goal-oriented. During the intervention, family members share specific examples of how the person's addiction has impacted their lives and spell out what they will do if the individual does not get treatment. The intervention also presents a clear treatment plan, which typically involves input from intervention services.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term, intensive outpatient option designed for those with moderate to severe addictions who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment is often fully covered by insurance and provides structured programming (i.e. individual and group therapy). A typical partial hospitalization program can meet 3-5 days a week for a minimum of 20 hours, offering intensive treatment during the day while allowing you to return home after. PHP treatment duration can vary based on your progress but averages 90 days.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in New Jersey provides a setting where you can withdraw from alcohol or drugs under close monitoring of experienced medical staff. These trained professionals can intervene at any time if needed. They can prescribe medications to reduce cravings and physical discomfort. Mental health professionals are also available to address any emotional and psychological challenges you experience as you begin your recovery journey.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
postpartum-program thumbnail image
Postpartum Program
The postpartum period is a sensitive time, especially for women in addiction recovery. Rehabs with specialized programs for new mothers will offer compassionate, personalized care to meet each client's needs as they transition from pregnancy to this season of life. Care teams may include obstetricians, pediatricians, and social workers working collaboratively to give women, children, and families a healthy future.

These include coping skills, relapse prevention plans, and developing resilience, all of which are essential for long term recovery.

Family therapy sessions address addiction related conflicts and other issues between members of the family unit. By strengthening communication and coping skills, as well as creating a nurturing environment, the family can help support their loved one's recovery.

Just sat down with my hysterical mother after she left her session for clearance with one of your mental health "professionals." Your one star is for setting her up with someone else. This man told her that my my sibling does not want a relationship with her and doesn't know how to tell her. He also said she should consider telling him that she doesn't want one with them. They talked for less than a half hour, with minimal details being shared, and that's what she got before being set up with someone to go to see long-term. Yes, sometimes those cases are true. However, how in the world do you form those conclusions based off of ONE HALF HOUR SESSION?I KNOW my sibling, and this is so far from the truth. We struggle with our relationships with our parents, but they are different people now and we love them. We want to be in their lives and we want them in ours. That's for us to decide, not YOU.How many families and connections have you torn apart before having the chance to dive deep into them and understand what's going on?

The worst! Don't even want to give 1 star. They used to be okay. No longer. And they bill as a facility so it's going to cost you your full deductible. Go elsewhere.

My mom s friend went here for help because she was severely depressed after years of trauma and had suicidal ideations. The person she spoke to didn t take her seriously and just told her to practice mindfulness and she ll be fine. Later that week my mom s friend attempted suicide and is now severely and permanently brain damaged and disabled. She never sued for fear that the extra money would cause her to lose her disability benefits. I think a lot of people go here because it s one of the few places that takes state insurance and new patients, but if you have other options, please pick anywhere else.

You won't find a more pathetic doctors office. All these people care about is getting their money whether it's from your insurance or yourself. All year I had no issues with my insurance until these guys decided to bill them incorrectly. I spoke with my insurance company on numerous occasions and they consistently told me it's an issue on the offices side and they need to resubmit the claims. I spoke to several people about doing so and they were nasty and talked down on me refusing to help. The only help they gave me was transferring me to another woman whom allegedly handles these issues. She doesn't answer her phone nor call back. I've called this number every single day at various respectable times of the day for over a month and not once has she answered. I'm at a wall. It's truly pathetic. Now I'm stuck with hundreds upon hundreds of dollars in bills that were previously covered all year. I cannot emphasize this enough... DO NOT GO HERE. You will go here for help with your mental health and will undoubtedly leave with more headaches and issues than prior. DON'T DO IT.

Horrible doctors do not care about you unless you have major mental health issues and make you feel ridiculous for getting help for ADHD and anxiety.

I tried seeing someone here for some bad mental health issues and the doctor I was assigned to was so unhelpful. She made me feel uncomfortable and minimized my problems and about 75% of our calls were just awkward silence. She was also unprofessional, not actually focusing on me pretty much at all, mostly looking over paperwork. A couple days ago, a *year* after I sought help, I got a bill for almost $2,000 for two meetings. Today I got a letter saying it was imperative I respond within 7 days of the above date. The above date? 7/24/23. It s September. So I get to pay an insane amount a year after treatment without actually getting a chance to discuss it.

My experiences with the professionals at HBH have been very positive. They are caring, supportive, professional and diligent. In an era where mental health professionals are overwhelmed with demand, this group goes to great lengths to ensure access for those in need of their services. Everyone I have encountered in this group, from the individuals at the front desk to the doctors, have been personable, kind and helpful.
