Their specialists also offer cosmetic and plastic surgery, dental services and diagnostic and testing services. The behavioral health branch specializes in treating substance use disorders, eating disorders and mood disorders like anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder.

Mountainside provides inpatient and outpatient therapy programs, a partial hospitalization program and an intensive outpatient program for those who aren’t eligible for the partial hospitalization program. During the intensive outpatient program, you’ll attend individual and group therapy sessions three times a week in the morning.

Their inpatient unit has space for 30 adults. On top of caring for those experiencing addiction to alcohol or drugs, they also look after anyone experiencing psychosis or paranoia, living with bipolar or ADHD, and going through adjustment disorder.

Their outpatient services are available to children aged five and up, adolescents, adults and seniors. The program involves individual therapy and group sessions.

A great feature of this center is that all of their psychiatrists are trained to provide quality geriatric mental health support to older patients. Many addiction treatment centers have age limits that prevent seniors who are experiencing addiction from getting the help they need. This center aims to provide seniors with a vibrant and fulfilling recovery experience. The program is designed to be an efficient, short term solution that stabilizes your condition enough for you to return to your normal life. Their services include traditional therapy methods like cognitive behavioral therapy and addiction groups, as well as contemporary treatments like music therapy and recreational therapy.

This 1-star review is specifically for Dr. Erik Sherman, who attended to me during my visit to the ER. After being transported here by my school EMS due to chest pains, I was met with an extremely condescending, rude, and dismissive attitude. Regardless of the diagnosis, the Patient Rights posted on the wall clearly state that listening to patients is a fundamental right. However, this doctor made me feel completely unheard and belittled.Despite struggling with anxiety, I advocated for myself, only to have the doctor dismiss me by saying he doesn t have a magic wand to fix things. He also repeatedly used language like, you re young and healthy, which is both inappropriate and unprofessional, especially to someone in the STEM field who understands the complexities of health. Age DOES NOT determine wellness, and his assumptions were harmful. At no point did Dr. Sherman apologize for his dismissive approach. Instead, he excused his behavior by claiming he had to explain things to me multiple times insinuating that I was unable to understand, which felt degrading and unkind. This is not the proper way to treat patients, especially those who are already feeling vulnerable. This was my first visit to this hospital, as I was brought here by my school EMS, and it will absolutely be my last. While the other staff members I interacted with were kind and professional, my experience with Dr. Sherman left me with a very negative impression. After my visit, I found out that Dr. Sherman has a 2.5 rating and a history of similar issues with other patients. This does not reflect well on the hospital and calls into question its standards of care.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I attempted to book an appointment with a highly recommended endocrinologist at this facility. Unfortunately, my experience with the receptionist was extremely disappointing. She was unhelpful and dismissive, requiring me to justify my condition before turning me away. The interaction left me shocked and disheartened. I will not be seeking care at this hospital in the future.

Came here with an inflamed eye on aThursday night. The receptionist/nurse at triage was rude, and laughed at the paramedics who brought me in. I was left for 2 hours in a room before anyone saw me. When a doctor finally saw me, I was told that they didn t even HAVE an ophthalmologist department, or even one on call. The same doctor told me that the equipment (lights, buttons on bed) only worked half the time. They were unable to help me, and I elected to go to a different hospital for treatment. On my way out, to add a cherry on top, I stepped in unattended vomit outside the waiting room on my way out. Inconsiderate, unqualified staff, terrible service, and unhygienic. They also didn t validate my emergency contact s parking, even though they said they did. Absolutely would not recommend.

I cannot say enough good things about this hospital! My mother was admitted after going to the ER with a bowel occlusion. Her road was long and difficult but she has moved onto rehab now. Everyone from the internist in charge of her case, Dr Parikh, the surgeon, Dr Rainville, the entire ICU and PCU led by Dr Cohen and Dr Ali, the case managers, and most importantly the tireless ICU/PCU and internal medicine nurses: Cathy, Lin, Nancy, Annie, Marianne, and many more, as well as the pulmonary therapists and loads and loads of other people, cleaning, nurse assistants, etc.One very important part of this team is you as a patient or you as the advocate for your loved one! DO NOT FORGET THAT! Everyone is very busy and handles many patients at one time. Make sure you do your own research, ask a million questions if you have to and participate in your or your loved one's care.

This place use to be amazing unfortunately everything has gone downhill. I went to the hospital with my 80 year old grandmother last night. Had to wait 2 hours for her just to be let in to a room ( more like a closet) we were there for more than hour and a nurse was nowhere to be seen. The smell like urine was unbearable cause they put my grandmother next to a homeless men who stank up the whole place. He keept cursing and yelling It was all very unpleasant so we ended up leaving and decided to go to a different hospital all while my grandmother was in pain.
