About Forward Recovery

Forward Recovery in Los Angeles, California, treats substance abuse and mental health conditions for adults of all ages. They provide intensive outpatient services at this location, but they also have an inpatient program at their Roxbury Drive location if you need a more structured setting. Inpatient services are designed with more structure so you can focus on getting well without distractions

Their intensive outpatient program is the perfect option for those who don’t need the same structure and full-time support residential treatment offers. You’ll attend intensive therapy sessions where you work on relapse prevention techniques and develop healthy coping skills with a program that allows you the freedom to attend school or work. During their IOP service, you’ll live in a luxurious sober living home that provides a safe space free of substance triggers.

IOP helps you gain more independence while learning to handle stressful situations. You’ll also learn methods that work to reduce cravings and help you maintain recovery. They recommend that if you plan to use the outpatient program, you have a secure home environment. That’s most helpful for developing a safe, supportive network of family and friends while you go through the recovery process.

Aftercare is available to provide you with continued support after treatment. This service offers ongoing recovery opportunities to keep you engaged with sobriety while being treated like family.

I couldn't say more positive things about this program. I have been to three or four different treatment centers in the Greater Los Angeles area, and I have never felt better equipped to handle the real world than I feel after leaving Forward.Coming off of benzodiazepines was ugly stuff, and I was an anxious and fearful mess. Forward meticulously equipped me with stronger social skills, relapse prevention tools, and a stronger sense of self-awareness than I've ever had before.I felt like I was heard and listened to at every step of the process, and we even had a beautiful family session with my parents, which helped put them at ease as well. I hope to return in my sobriety - and I have never stayed sober this long before in my life. I loved Dr. Kevin, the tech staff, and the gym most. The food was amazing, and the groups were all wildly helpful. Thank you for helping me to piece together my life, Forward! The hard work is really yet to come, but thanks for helping me start my life right.

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Forward recovery changed my life. I went for 30 days, and the staff, counselors, and doctors (Dr Kevin was excellent) genuinely cared about every client there. They made sure we were fed good food the entire time. We were in a large beautiful house. Nice fenced in the backyard, and we fed the squirrels. They asked us if there was any food we didn't like and what food we would like there.6 hours a day, we worked on recovery, mental health, and trauma therapy.I was amazed after I heard from others about different treatment facilities. I was really lucky I went to forward recovery and not some place else.Thank you to you and your team!!

WARNING Families do not send your loved ones here. We sent our loved one here who was on a road of self-destruction only for this unprofessional facility to direct them to stop contact with us. We're a family mom dad two kids long long long marriage. No counseling sessions, just don't talk to them.. Our first red flag was when they first arrived (keep in mind, just put them on a plane three states away) they are taking there phone and not returning it for 3days but here's and emergency number (which ended up being a nurse station to no where) and we'll keep you updated on her. All paperwork and releases signed giving us permission to do so. NOTHING NO CONTACT we had to call and call until I got another owner just to find out if they were OK.. (we were thinking we sent them to a human traffic scam or something) Ugh... Finally, get connected after the whole family's upset and worried we think we'll get updates. NOPE had to make a call after call again to find out what's going on... This was after they were to get the phone back..Second red flag.. we're told we'd have counseling sessions within the first week with us singularly and then as a family.. Nothing just told they can't talk to us unless they talk to the Dr first...I could go on, but you get the point protect your family because this facility is in the business of destroying the families, not making families stronger through mental health, recovery, and communication... They run it in the ME Theory, not the US or We that it takes to make a family.. you must love you! Moms and Dad's, you know.. Husbands and wives pay attention.. Keep you shields up ! DO NOT TRUST LONNIE..

Foward recovery helped me make a ton of progress in my early sobriety After COVID hit hard the facility started to go downhill. My therapist that I had been talking to for over a month got fired. And I had built a very good relationship with her and was comfortable enough to talk about the things that had happened to me.I jus gave up on therapist aspect of my treatment plan because the rest of the time I was there I seen a therapist who is a case manager. She's not a therapist like and they had her doing my sessions I was suicidal for two weeks I would tell my "therapist" and she would tell me to jus get over it and get a job put my emotions and feelings aside and not think about how hurt I was. When I heard that from her I jus gave up and felt like I wanted to give up. Although the employees here truly care about each and every one of the clients that come in here. Foward recovery is a place I would recommend to many people because of the great progress the program helped me make at foward recovery.
