About Embark Behavioral Health – Alpharetta

Embark Behavioral Health - Alpharetta is part of a nationwide network of outpatient centers and residential programs that specialize in mental health issues, including substance use disorders. At their Alpharetta, Georgia, location they serve preteens, teens and young adults ages 12 to 28. They’ve been working with youth for over 25 years.

Located just north of Atlanta they make getting addiction treatment convenient for families living in the Atlanta Metro area. It’s not just the location that makes getting help here convenient. They work around clients’ school and work schedules which helps limit disruptions to daily life. To make payment easy they work with most insurance providers, but they also offer other flexible payment options.

At the Alpharetta location they offer individual therapy, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and a therapeutic day treatment program, also known as a partial hospitalization program (PHP). For clients who need a more intensive program they can help with a referral to one of their residential programs.

Treatment is guided by the CASA Developmental Framework, a unique approach you won’t find anywhere else. CASA focuses on Commitment, Acceptance, Security and Attunement to help teens and young adults heal through strong, supportive relationships. This framework is especially helpful for those who’ve experienced trauma. The program helps rebuild self worth and reduce feelings of shame.

They use evidence based treatment methods and personalize them to meet each teen’s unique needs. Families are involved in every part of the treatment process. They also use Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) to adjust care as it’s happening and track progress after treatment ends. All programs are accredited by The Joint Commission, which means they meet recognized standards for quality and safety.

Many families appreciate how supportive and understanding the staff and therapists are, creating a space where teens feel comfortable and engaged. The program does require a serious commitment from both parents and teens. It’s designed for those who are ready to invest the time and energy needed for meaningful growth and recovery.

i was an outpatient there and when i tell you it was one of the worst programs i have ever been in. the groups for adults are an absolute joke. it s glorified babysitting. i left the program as soon as i met the minimum requirements and found a much better outpatient program. staff is awful and they let interns lead important groups where the patients don t get the actual real help they need. i will never recommend this place to anyone given my personal experience there.

Accepted Insurance

Embark Behavioral Health – Alpharetta works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehab enables clients to receive addiction treatment while continuing to work and reside at home. Many programs offer evening, night, and weekend services so that clients may receive treatment on their own schedule. Outpatient treatment modalities typically include addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Many programs also provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and standard outpatient services, to align with clients' evolving needs.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Aftercare, which is sometimes referred to as continuing care or relapse prevention, is a type of structured care meant to help you continue with the progress you've made after completing an addiction treatment program. Most of the time, you'll continue receiving support after a treatment program by partnering with their case managers and staff to identify and access the resources you need to remain sober.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants in 12 step recovery programs focus on personal growth to address the emotional and psychological factors contributing to their addiction. 12 step recovery is rooted in spiritual development, but religious affiliation isn't required. Regular group meetings and individualized support with the help of self-selected sponsors promote participants' sobriety as they work through the 12 steps, gaining insight into their addiction, taking responsibility for their life choices, and releasing control over that which is uncontrollable.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox is the process of ridding the body of addictive substances in a medically supervised setting. If you become chemically dependent on a substance like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines (like Xanax or Ativan), quitting abruptly can cause uncomfortable or even dangerous side effects. Licensed medical professionals ensure the process goes as safely and comfortably as possible while monitoring you 24/7 and administering any required medications,

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

While cognitive behavioral therapy in Georgia is unique for each person, this therapy follows a standard structure that has proven effective. Clients first learn about their substance use disorder, then learn and practice techniques such as coping, stress management, and resilience to change their thought and behavior patterns.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

People in Georgia find that group therapy offers a place to share responsibility for each other's recovery. This helps foster a collective commitment to sobriety, which increases your potential for success and creates a network of mutual support that often follows into personal friendships.

Men and women in Georgia may experience Motivational Interviewing techniques while undergoing individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction treatment. This approach helps you explore how you feel about drug use and it strengthens your commitment to maintaining treatment. It is particularly useful in the early stages of recovery.

In trauma therapy, you address the emotional and psychological effects of traumatic events in your life. Your therapist provides you with the tools you need to process those memories and reduce the symptoms. This helps improve your overall mental health and functioning.

The skills you learn in couples therapy are designed to help you successfully address relationship challenges as they arise. These skills can include anger management, conflict resolution, communication, and problem solving.

During family therapy sessions in Georgia, members address the emotional toll that addiction has had on them. Therapists help your family develop coping strategies and improve the family unit's communication. This provides a stable environment that supports the recovery process.

When it is difficult to talk about feelings or challenges, creative arts therapy can provide an outlet to express your emotions and process the issues. A trained therapist will guide you in exploring your struggles through art forms such as dance, music, painting, or journaling.

As a teen in the program the facility actually has an opposite effect on me it makes me feel unsafe and I have few staff who I relate to who actually take the time to understand me and my boundaries and often times higher ups too the other kids have completely exaughsted and excluded me and it s expensive I live with my mom and I ve often found through Bible study my life improves I ve always been devoted to my mental health but if it ain t broke don t fix it the protocol is a bit triggering I ve developed a lot of fears of even going and now I dread showing up Tommorow I got a job all without dbt skills and simply being myself and I ve created bonds with my family and prior just healed a lot of my own trauma I can definitely research on my own but I m tired of being treated like an animal in a cage and a criminal for simply being who i am I ve expressed this and even a employee meddled when I explicitly requested to leave my mom out of my breakdown I don t need that kinda help it was violating and disrespectful and only worsened my feelings at first I was okay with it I felt safe but now my own home is more safe than that place everyday I get gaslit or belittled about my concerns my opinion my feelings my voice silenced simply because my boundaries have been disrespected not only once but repeatedly and I get a bit scary to the other kids I don t blame them however this has absolutely gotten out of hand and the rules they don t even allow basic friendship how are we to even have a sense of communication or community and when the staff well some of them have bad days they take it out on us not to mention several basic necessities are taken as soon as you enter the facility I understand the rules and concerns and what not but I will not be forced to live in a way I don t see fit for myself I m a human and a kid as much as anyone and while yes I have slight improvement it feels like boarding school hell I want out and my experience is valid you all can have your own bias but this is how I feel
