About Ascension Eastwood Clinic at Greenfield

Ascension Eastwood Clinic at Greenfield in Southfield, Michigan, is a comprehensive healthcare facility that serves men and women who are experiencing struggles with their behavioral health or have a co-occurring substance use disorder. They also have specialized programs for adolescents. Treatment is offered in an outpatient setting. This includes an intensive outpatient program (IOP) if you need more robust care. They accept policies from most major insurance providers.

When you seek treatment here, you’ll first work with a medical team of professionals who will take the time to understand your recovery needs. Assessments and evaluations will take place to determine an appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan for your needs.

Services include specialty groups such as driver’s license evaluation programs. This will help you reinstate driving privileges if you’ve lost them because of a drug related offense. There’s also a health professional recovery program. As an educator, I appreciate that they also offer age appropriate adolescent treatment programs. There are also family support services that will empower your loved ones with the skills they need to help support you through recovery.

During treatment you’ll work with a multidisciplinary team of professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists and clinical social workers. You’ll undergo various evidence based therapies to help you resolve underlying issues contributing to your substance use struggles. Dialectical behavioral therapy is offered, which empowers you to think through negative thoughts, emotions and triggers that have contributed to your concurring diagnosis.

5 stars although I believe I would have enjoyed my stay more thoroughly had I had a Jacuzzi in my room !!! and I was blessed to only have had a roommate for 1 night that they placed another human in my room out of 30 I was there? Just my opinion? As for the program, saved my life ! When I really didn't care to myself, I learned a lot while I was there. Most importantly I somehow had the epiphany that I never went to treatment because I wanted to quit using drugs, I went to treatment because I still wanted to use despite heavy consequences and I didn't know how to stop, and I had exhausted every resource I could come up with to continue using.I have now been drug and alcohol free for 17 months and my life is better than ever, I didn't expect to get this far , this easily.A certain staff member really helped me in making the next next decision on where to go from Eastwood that was a very important decision, not to go back into the same environment where I consistently succeeded to use a failed to stay clean, now matter how many reasons I came up with, or who else I could convince that it was a sound decision.I face my problems today and almost look forward to solving my problems as they arise ,there's nothing that can will would or could stop me from living a good life other than poor choices that would or could lead me in the wrong direction.

This is far and away the best in-patient rehab center in Southeast Michigan. The overwhelming majority of negative reviews are predicated upon "I didn't stay sober!" or "My [son, brother, husband] didn't stay sober!" Sorry, but no recovery program can do the work on your behalf. Period. Eastwood provides and instills all the resources, tools, and planning that anybody needs to recover. Rehab is a stepping stool out of the hole you're in; unfortunately you still have to climb, or build the ladder (with 12 steps). The majority of staff are themselves in recovery, and wholeheartedly dedicated to guiding others and sharing what they have achieved. There is not a better collection of people who sincerely want to save your life than Gwen, Eric, Tim, Kim, Jake, Jeremy, Jason... ALL of these angels. This building is a beacon of hope, a light that can help anyone find their way out of the darkness of addiction. I showed up here with nothing but desperation, and was provided with shelter, a warm bed, hot food, medical assistance, a wide-variety of programming that attacks my addiction from every angle. Eastwood provided everything from clothing and hygiene products to peer recovery coaching and out-patient aftercare, to long-term sober living once you complete programming. You can show up here broke, broken, and on the brink of death..and depart with literally everything you need to become your best you. They make sure you don't leave until you have housing or a safe place to go to. They make sure you have a plan for the necessary help after in-patient. They make sure you're ready, that you're okay.If you or somebody you know has an alcohol or drug problem, Eastwood will truly provide every single thing needed to put the pieces of your life back together. This is an ongoing community, this is truly a brotherhood. This place and these people are keeping people out of cages and graves. They care. They will love you until you love yourself. Does that sound corny? I think killing yourself with drugs and alcohol sounds pretty corny. Pick one. This place matters <3

Accepted Insurance

Ascension Eastwood Clinic at Greenfield works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program have already completed high-level treatment and have begun to develop essential recovery skills. Rehab aftercare services are designed to support clients' sustained sobriety as they reintegrate into their home, workplace, and community. Case managers, care teams, and clients design the customized service portfolio that will best support the client's long-term sobriety. Clients may receive peer coaching, 12 step program induction, vocational training, and relapse prevention services.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Michigan helps participants view challenges more clearly so they can respond to them in healthy ways. During a limited number of structured sessions, clients learn about and practice these changes to effectively address substance use and mental health disorders.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Accreditations

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Established in 1992 by congress, SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on American's communities.

SAMHSA Listed: Yes

State Licenses are permits issued by government agencies that allow rehab organizations to conduct business legally within a certain geographical area. Typically, the kind of program a rehab facility offers, along with its physical location, determines which licenses are required to operate legally.

Well, I hope this place gets shut down. My personal experience has been God Awful! I was threatened by people that had drugs in the facility, yet she did NOTHING. NOT to mention the fact How about the fact that Gwendolyn, the director, stands on a 5% success rate recovery message? Just say no is their message! Self-centered is what I see. NO BACKBONE. PURE SELF-CENTEREDNESS. I would like to know how that plays out with basic Karma. You know, advancing a career at the expense of peoples children.

Wanted to switch to the telehealth here but apparently everyone there is too busy to ever call you back. In January I got a call saying someone would call me in two weeks to schedule an appointment after I filled out the email intake form. I received the forms via email about 3 weeks after that phone call on February 8th I sent it back within 30 minutes of me receiving it. On March 15th I was sent the same packet to fill out. I emailed them back and told them it was filled out a month ago and someone needs to contact me via telephone and not email. I got a response saying someone will call you today to schedule an appointment . I had faith at first I was going to get a call. But nope. Once again no one has contacted me. If you are actually looking to get help or see a doctor this place can t even schedule an appointment. Worst experience ever.
