Accepted Insurance

Charak Center for Health and Wellness works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients who have just completed detox or who are at an increased risk of relapse, such as those experiencing a life crisis, typically enroll in an inpatient rehab. There, they receive housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive individual, group, and family therapy. Clients may also participate in life skills training to support their long-term sobriety. Integrative rehab centers offer a variety of evidence-based holistic therapies, such as meditation or equine therapy.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are designed to ensure clients receive continuing care while in the maintenance phase of recovery. Some clients may be in outpatient treatment, which is generally considered to be an element of drug rehab aftercare. The specific services provided in these programs are often determined by the client's case manager and care team in consultation with the client. Common services include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Therapists who apply motivational interviewing in Ohio don't try to confront clients or force advice onto them. Instead, they listen and come alongside clients to help them explore why and how they might decide to make changes for themselves.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

The worst doctors office I ve ever had to deal with. They do not answer the phone, so it s near impossible to schedule appointments or follow ups. They do not return messages, so if you need a medication refill? Good luck. I ve been without my meds for a month now and that was after I made a payment on my account. I left a message for the billing office to take care of the balance, haven t heard back about that either. Oh but I DO get their robo calls daily, sometimes multiple times a day, about a study opportunity! So now I m going through withdrawal symptoms from my medications that their doctor in their office prescribed me, all because this place is either understaffed, lazy, incompetent or all of the above. I shouldn t have to beg to pay my bill with a payment arrangement, get an appointment or a refill. You guys should be shut down!I have to start at square one somewhere else. So if anyone has found any GOOD places to go, hmu.

Prior to 2024, going to Charak was pleasant; there were occasionally issues, but those were cleared up. The receptionist was great, the office staff were helpful, and my NP was great as well, and always looked out for me.However, at the start of 2024, my experience there started to truly go bad, due to whoever the new person at the front desk was; I never got her name, she claimed to be the practice manager, and she is the reason I will be finding a new doctor s office. I have never had a worse experience with a receptionist, she had 0 care for my experience, was insanely rude, and always made it seem like doing her job was a chore. The 1st time I dealt with her in February, she brought up that I had a statement balance of almost $1000 that I was going to have to pay, which I knew was incorrect. After some back and forth, we found out my insurance had been switched to self-pay in October 2023, which was a mistake on their end. I provided my insurance card again and went to my appointment. After returning, she stated the insurance I provided was not valid, even though it had been since 2022, and sternly stated that I was going to have to pay, again. After a bit of arguing, she begrudgingly called the insurance company to determine if the coverage had ever been dropped. I was baffled, she was incredibly rude to whoever was on the phone from the insurance, constantly interrupting them and getting incredibly aggressive with them; eventually she gave up and hung up. Without having figured anything out, she then, a 3rd time, sternly stated I was going to have to pay. I stated I wasn't going to be paying until I had determined what the situation was with my insurance, because she gave up before getting an answer, almost like it wasn't worth her time. She then reluctantly reached out to the billing office, and after some back and forth, was seemingly told to stop what she was doing and that they would figure it out. She tried 3 whole times to get me to pay an insane bill that was very much wrong and was nothing but rude and demanding when I was trying to figure out what was going on.My next visit was okay since things had been cleared up billing-wise, however my visit in April was another awful experience. After going to my appointment and coming back to the desk, she stated I had a high balance again, which seemed off, so I asked to see the statement before paying. The last 3 months with her there, it always seemed like she was having an issue with the printer, that it was a big deal, and that she wasn't going to be able to get me a statement, making excuse after excuse, which led to more arguing because I needed the statements to send to my insurance, but she was always so stuck on getting payments instead of helping figure out what was up when there were clear issues. You're telling me during the last three months I've come in for visits, there's always been an issue with the printer on that day? As I'm trying to state that I may need to step out and call my insurance before I paid, she made some vague threats about how if I didn't pay then they wouldn't refill my prescriptions until I did. At this point she finally got the statement out after bickering with me, and I could see that there were multiple charges on it from older visits instead of a single visit, which cleared up the concerns I had. The whole time she was nothing but rude and argumentative, even falsely stating at one point something about from when my insurance seemingly got rejected back in January and that the balance was what it was. She just straight up lied to me to reinforce that I was going to have to pay what was there, and that was that.I will not be going back, and until disciplinary action has been taken against whoever this practice manager is for the way she treats patients, I will be directing others to steer clear. Shoutout to the care-coordinator at Charak, Brooke, she is phenomenal, and has been great throughout all of this.

This place is the worst psychiatric facility I have ever been too. As soon as I walked in, the place smelled like mildew. And the receptionist and manager, Heather, is one of the rudest people I've ever met. I walked in to her telling a patient she didn't care about what pharmacy she was using, which should have been the first red flag. She was very rude to me while I will filling out paperwork and treated me like I was stupid. The doctor herself was very nice, I thought the experience with her was very professional. But the issues really started when billing became involved. I needed an itemized receipt for my health savings plan and Heather refused to give me one. She said that she could not make one in the office and had to contact the billing department and they would fax it over to me. The next day, I contacted again to give my fax number, and she gave me an attitude once again. After a couple hours of not receiving it, I gave the billing department a call and spoke with Janet, who was very nice, and she said she would message Heather about getting it sent to me, because she said that Heather could definitely do it in office. After a little while, my mother became involved because nothing was being done and if I did not have an itemized receipt to my health savings by a certain time, I would have to pay the $250 balance in full. So she called and spoke with Janet and she told my mother that Heather responded saying that "she doesn't have time for this". Time to do your job? To generate the receipt and fax it over? I work in the healthcare department as well and know how simple that process is. Janet was able to have the Mentor office staff get me the receipt in less than 10 minutes. Shout out to Melissa from the Mentor office, because she really came in clutch. But this process took almost 5 hours when it could have been done in 10 minutes. I believe that this Heather should have disciplinary action taken against her for not doing her job correctly and not doing it really at all. I would just advise to stay away from the Medina office as much as possible. Definitely will not be coming back

Doctor was unprofessional! Phones never work and they are under staffed. Dr Anikeev gives terrible advice and never showed up to my appointment last time. On top of that, never refilled my Rx so I went through withdrawal and had to call my primary for a month refill to tide me over while I found another doctor. When he showed up to the following appointment (video appointment) and I was asked how I felt, I told Dr. Anikeev how I was feeling about my treatment there, he told me to talk to a manager and hung up on me! When you call back to get a manager no one answers. Disappointing when you go to someone for help and are treated like you don't matter, adding to your problems instead of relieving them like a doctor is supposed to do. Manager did end up calling me and was very sweet. She's in charge of 5 stores understaffed with no help, over worked and underpaid, I really feel for her and the few other understaffed members. She offered me a different doctor but I'm not sure about staying somewhere they have no staff to schedule you an appointment for so I'm a bit wary.So I gave this place the benefit of the doubt with another doctor and yet more unprofessionalism. Took a secretarial call in middle of my session at the first appointment and second one didn't show up and I got blamed for not showing up when she's the one who didn't give me a call till 35 min after my appointment. After ten minutes of waiting I was already on the phone with another doctor somewhere else. If a patient is late ten minutes or more they tell you to reschedule because that's an unacceptable amount of time with other people needing help. I can't and won't sit by the phone half an hour after my appointment for a call. This place is unprofessional and it's not just one doctor. I'm never coming back!

One star is far more than this place deserves.I never write negative reviews, but if this can help someone find help elsewhere, then it's worth it. My husband who is a purple heart veteran switched to this place to get his ADHD medicine after his prior doctor moved. He met with one of the doctors who immediately refused to prescribe him the medicine he had been taking for a year after his ADHD diagnosis (he also has PTSD and a TBI from Afghanistan). He was willing to try the non-stimulant for a month and after it did absolutely nothing for him, he and did all the steps they required to prescribe his medication he had been taking. He had to get an EKG elsewhere so I called around and finally found a place for him to get one. They faxed the results over to Charek and after my husband called them every day for a week (they didn't answer a single time) he finally went there to talk to the receptionist. She was completely overwhelmed and said she "has 600 faxes to go through". My husband then called the place he had his EKG and the faxed over the results AGAIN while he was physically in the waiting room at Charak. He went back up to the front desk and the receptionist still gave him a hard time about it. He decided to take matters into his own hands and went to the place to get a physical copy of his EKG results and took them back to the receptionist at Charak. She took the results and said she would give them to the doctor. My husband and I then called for the next whole week and NEVER received a call back. By then he was so fed up that he went elsewhere and he was prescribed his medication the same day... the doctor told him that the medicine Charak prescribed him was not even a high enough dosage for a 12 year old and is proven to not do anything for ADHD.It's been months now and they still NEVER called him back, but they sure had the NERVE to send a bill from the doctor! Such a joke. He suffered for over two months being miserable at his demanding job because Charak doesn't help their patients. No wonder our country has such a mental health issue when THIS is what people asking for HELP have to deal with. This is how they treated a veteran who fought for our country in two wars who finally was asking for help. Please find another doctor so you don't have to go through the hassle of dealing with these people. I will be reporting them to our insurance company and to the medical board.

If I could I would give this place a zero stars, I have had problems with this place from the day I started as a mental health place they do not do their job. They never are consistent with their psychiatrist I had to deal with two psychiatrist, and they both subscribed me two different things, and one was based off the fact that I was in a relationship Not only that, but I had to call their office multiple times to see how much of a dosage I was supposed to take because I was not prescribed the right dosage. I physically had to go to the there because for the past two days that I called multiple times and left voicemails. Nobody answered the phone because I was strictly told not to cut my medicine cold cut, and they were not answering the phone for me to get my prescription, and when I went in there there was only one person, if you are that low staff you need to hire more people because this is a mental health facility and I shouldn t be getting stressed out over the fact that you can t answer your phone. And another incident that I had is when I wanted a new therapist and in the first five minutes of me being on video call this mail therapist told me that they are going to be certain things that I say that affect his emotions and traumas basically telling me that I can t talk about certain things with him and personally that is so unprofessional for someone to say especially if I m coming to you to talk about my mental health and what is going on in my life I definitely do not recommend this place!!!
