yes, i do not want to be here. but everyone is nice. cara, one of the two dietitians, is very funny. she challenges me and i don t always like it, but it will probably help me. to be clear i am still here. i m writing this while still in php, but still. my therapist, kiran, is also very fun to talk to and always listens. you get a two sessions a week with your treatment team. you bring your own dinenr, they supply for lunch and snack. you have four groups a day to help you. the cycle menu is very repetitive but it s fine. grace, the group facilitator is the nicest person i ve ever met. i think i ve gotten better here and i hope to everyone else who comes is able to get better as well!!

If you are ready to take this program seriously you can recover here. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate and driven. I trusted all of their directions for my care and it all turned out to be exactly what I needed. On tough days they were there to boost me up and on good days they celebrated me. They were patient and understanding of the stress caused by going through recovery. I never thought recovery was possible but CDF Greenwich proved me wrong.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

3-1-23:See below. The NY Times has been contacted for an expose.Courtney Duda-The facility in Greenwich is filthy and unsanitary and it would appear that the organization can not keep staff. The people there are neophytes and unlicensed. To give me 4 weeks vacation since I would not have been utilizing your health insurance plan would have saved CFD $$$$.While there, I took photos of the unsanitary and gross rug with multiple stains and the junk in the corners and the grime on the table. Clients in this high SEC would be turned off by these abominable conditions and to learn that the clinicians are under skilled and non-licensed.I have no choice but to make my observations public and report my concerns to the State. As I question the legitimacy of any treatment that is happening there. The reviews on the internet almost all support my observations.Be well. The Riversville program, in my opinion, is a dump and your low census reflects multiple problems.

It didn t help me and I signed myself out early because they were trying to force me to go inpatient despite not having the ability to leave my home for a few months (i live alone and i need to be able to care for my cats) They said I wasn t really trying and that I kept losing weight, but I was trying really hard to recover and I had been weighing myself, even tho i wasn t suppose to at home, and according to my scale i was maintaining. The reason i ll give it a 3 tho is, the staff knew that I was struggling with money because I was out of work, therefore buying food was nearly impossible, so they put together a bag of groceries for me, it was really thoughtful and caring. That was such a thoughtful way to help me and I really appreciated it. Me and my friend cooked the food and it was delicious! I really loved the program and think it could ve helped. I talked very openly about my thoughts and feelings but it seemed I just drove them to want to send me to a higher level of care, which just isn t possible for me. When I signed myself out they informed me that I would no longer be allowed to see my outpatient team because i refused inpatient, making it un-ethical for my outpatient eating disorder team to treat me. I was left with no one. My individual trauma focused therapist continued to see me but she had to jump through hoops for her supervisor to allow it and she has done more good in my life than anyone else. I m actually in recovery now, working full time at a new job I love, in my career that the psychiatrist at CFD told me I couldn t handle because I have a mental illness. Well here I am, i m doing great, i m awesome at my job, my relationships are stronger than ever, my mood has improved, and i m navigating recovery with little professional support thanks to CFD, but i m managing. I have extreme amounts of willpower, so im putting it to good use by proving everyone wrong and recovering despite the lack of support. I ve learned recovery is possible even if it seems impossible, you just have to want it bad enough. Someone at CFD probably told me that but I had my head up my own a$$ the whole time anyway so I couldnt listen. Thanks again for the groceries, I appreciated them, I hope you guys still have my painting!

this cfd was terrible for me. I was dying and all they did was watch. My therapist was absolutely terrible and almost never met with me. they also had 0 communication with my op therapist (which they agreed to do) and basically none with my parents. my dietitian was the only person who seemed to care, but that is never going to be enough. They triggered the hell out of me and didn t even give me a chance to get better. the first thing I was told was that I was already on the waiting list for residential so it didn t matter if I truly got better there. I was there for 8 weeks and I quickly deteriorated. this place was the worst thing that ever happened to me.

This place saved me! The staff were incredible and so caring. The way that the staff cared about each and every client was one of a kind. When you were challenging fear foods, the staff supported you through it and even if that meant eating the same food as you! The groups were amazing and the therapists were one of a kind. After going through PHP and IOP here I no longer resented dietician s. Php and iop gave me life long skills that have helped me maintain my recovery. I also loved how you got to plate your own meals and snacks and learn what an appropriate portion size was. I never thought I would be in recovery for over a year but thanks to CFD s php and iop for the first time in my life I am in active recovery.Thank you to everyone who helped me get to where I am today! Eating disorders are not an easy field to be in, but the amount of lives you are saving is phenomenal.I highly recommend when you are ready smashing your scale! I smashed my scale my last day of iop (when I was truly ready) best decision ever!I believe in each and everyone of you!Sarah Meiseles

I was gaslit over and over again by staff. They slapped me with an inaccurate diagnosis and I kept saying it didn t fit and that my outpatient team agrees with me that the diagnosis was incorrect. My therapist at CFD refused to talk to my outpatient team about it and just kept gaslighting me with this really serious diagnosis. Another time, a therapist convinced me to open up about my trauma in group and then said in no uncertain terms in front of everyone that I was partially to blame for my assault. This same therapist told me to use a different word when I was talking about a dissociative episode because dissociate is a strong word . When I argued with her that I know what I experienced, she asked the whole group um okay, did anyone else see this zombie Hannah yesterday? It was humiliating and dehumanizing. Also, because of their inaccurate diagnosis, I was labeled as attention seeking and my therapist decided that none of the staff was allowed to initiate check-ins with me. I had to be the one to tell them I needed help. Fine I get that, but she didn t tell me! She told all of the staff to not help me if I was in distress and to let me figure it out on my own, and nobody told me that had been put in place. It s already messed up that someone who clearly needed a higher level of care was literally ignored in the place that s supposed to be the safest- but nobody told me why I was being ignored! My discharge date was picked for me without any kind of discussion and my hesitation was also, ignored. They said I just needed to use my skills. Well it s been 7 months since my last discharge and I m still struggling immensely with my eating disorder and working through the trauma that CFD Greenwich (and 2 therapists specifically) caused with my EMDR therapist. F*** you CFD.
