About Center for Discovery – Addison

Center for Discovery, in Addison, Texas, is a treatment clinic that offers outpatient care to youth and adults suffering from dual diagnosis conditions. Their levels of care include their two outpatient programs: partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) care. Those being discharged from a nearby drug rehab center may continue receiving care at this facility.

The outpatient programs at the Center for Discovery apply cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention, dialectical behavioral therapy, yoga, nutrition education, relapse prevention and life skills on a daily or weekly basis.

Their PHP treatment operates five to six days a week, while their IOP is less stringent and can be done on weekends to fit the needs of those working or in school. Clients must acquire at least nine hours of individual or group therapy each week.

Center for Discovery takes most major insurance providers, such as Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Humana, United Healthcare, and others. Contact your provider to verify coverage because out of network benefits can vary.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Therapists help individual members to identify and change harmful behavior patterns and improve communication. This provides a stable foundation for the family and their loved one's recovery.

I worked here as a diet technician for almost half a year and made the difficult decision to leave due to personal reasons, but I am beyond grateful for the positive experience I had at CFD. I was warmly welcomed with open arms, and I enjoyed working with a supportive team- my second family- who taught me so much. I was blessed with an outstanding and always-optimistic manager, Ali, who never failed to be there for me. She genuinely cares about the well-being of her team, and I appreciate everything she has done for me. Manal and Kristen are absolutely wonderful and super knowledgeable as they really know their stuff being truly all-foods-fit dietitians. Canitra, Stephanie, Brantley, Elizabeth, and Stevie are all such insightful and superb therapists who have unique strengths of their own. I could go on and on about how amazing these people really are! Last but not least, it was so rewarding and such a pleasure being a part of each of my patients' journeys and being able to work with them! It was incredible getting to witness how much progress each person made. From staff to patients, every single person has honestly impacted my life for the better, and working there has been one of the best decisions that I will never regret. Thank you for everything, CFD Family! You all are so missed.

CFD has been such a blessing for our family! The people there are so warm, caring, compassionate, helpful, and responsive. They made my child feel so welcome and he absolutely thrived in their program. It was a hugely positive experience from beginning to end and a big thank you to all of the staff, especially Ali, Manal, and Elizabeth! CFD is the best.

Starting this review by saying this is one the best places I've been to. I have never felt loved and cared for by any other place except this one. Manal and maddie are incredible people and have helped me so much they will help you. Ali gage and Elizabeth are amazing directors and therapists too. Although I hated this place in the beginning , I learned its not as bad as I thought. Its so much better compared to erc or children's , if you need help with an eating disorder definitely come here.

This is a great facility and program. The staff is amazing! I took off one star because the billing department at corporate is incompetent. Make sure you are well educated on your insurance coverage and know the financial process at the center ahead of time to avoid stress and frustration.

the other patients were rad af. the staff, on the other hand, was hit or miss and they missed like 99% of the time. the staff wasn't accommodating to patients needs. this place also should say treatment for RESTRICTIVE eating disorders because in reality that's all they focus on

Response from the owner2 years ago

The Plano location is MUCH better. This staff fails to communicate on treatment and only cares about getting paid.

Overcharged me. Mistakenly didn't bill the insurance for a week and wanted me to pay. Worked thru it with them to prove they were wrong. Thought I was done. Got a letter from a collection agency for double what they overcharged me. Contacted them again. Thought it was fixed. Got another letter. Talked to both companies, thought it was done. Just got another letter. This have been gong on now for over 1 year. Save yourself the nightmare, go somewhere else.

Response from the owner4 years ago
