at first my comment was a joke. a silly little joke. but after talking to my therapist and unpacking the trauma that i (and MANY of the other tenants of scholze) endured, i think a more critical comment is needed.one of my main problems with the program is the 12 steps. the 12 steps and NA as a whole are inherently religious, despite being touted as spiritual . as someone who has undergone religious trauma, i find this deeply unsettling. it is NOT okay to push religion onto children. and that is what indoctrinating adolescents into NA does. on top of this they speak of substance use disorder as a spiritual malady and not a disorder, which is exactly what it is. you cannot heal a disorder spiritually. at scholze, evidence based methods such as harm reduction are not taught, and instead abstinence is preached. according to addiction experts, the amount of people who stay sober due to an abstinence based approach is 15%. whereas those who utilize suboxone (something that is not utilized in scholze) have a 50% success rate. obviously that s still not great, but it is a drastic improvement from 15%.another thing i found very offputting was the death wall in the lobby. yes folks, there is a wall of obituaries and pictures of children who went to scholze and died after treatment. i know it is meant to honor them, but if dozens of children are leaving your treatment center and dying, is that really a good thing to be showing. i think it s disgusting almost.the workers were ate in front of us whenever they wanted. as a child who had a specific time and place where we could eat this felt like a slap in the face. not only that, but after eating their own food, the workers would help themselves to a plate of OUR food.i was elected mayor of the boys side of the treatment center during my first week. in my two months of trying to make a bad situation a little bit better i succeeded and tried to help foster a sense of community, and that honestly is the only thing that got me through this god forsaken place. the relationships i made with the boys i lived with for months will never be broken.in the end, my experience with the scholze center was mixed. i was traumatized by some of the things i had seen, especially things that other kids would do. girls urinating in trash cans. fights. a riot. all types of stuff.if you re son or daughter is suffering from a substance use disorder, do not send them to scholze. send them anywhere but scholze. it is glorified juvy

Location

Accepted Insurance

CADAS – Scholze Center for Adolescents works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

The most recent time I was there, things had kinda fallen apart, and u can tell it was bc they tried to add more structure. Most of the techs were just as petty as the kids, would get involved in drama, and play favorites. My counselor was probably one of the best staff there (Reagan). She was an og counselor that was there the first time I d went too. She has a very fun approach to therapy, and I genuinely still consider her a close friend. The first time I came to sholze, I graduated successfully within 55 days, however the second time I was suspended on my 34th day. I was suspended bc of borderline rioting. Me and another girl had been given 150 points bc we didn t want to participate in yoga (which was supposed to optional anyways) and the tech gave us 50 points, so we went to the basketball court to cool off, and got 100 more. When we came inside, the tech who d given us points was acting cute and making immature remarks abt us, so we wrecked the hall, causing the boys to also wreck their hall. I was also suspended bc of dress code. I can understand why I wasn t allowed to walk around in my boxers, but I CANT understand why every other girl was allowed to walk around in my boxers. Everything I tried to wear was a problem. My leggings were too tight , My shorts (not boxers) were ALWAYS too short, and my sweat pants hung too low . However, other girls on the unit would borrow my clothes all the time, and they were allowed to wear them. When I talked to Melanie abt it (the director) I was told it s bc I need to dress to fit my body type, and bc the other girls weren t as curvy. I have a lot of respect for Melanie, ngl, but that statement was NOT it. Especially as someone who suffers from body dysmorphia. Based on my last experience, it s not that great for kids who aren t straight edge, white, pot heads.

Cierra, We wish you the best in your recovery. The adolescent journey can be tough with all of life's rules and structure. I am sorry you felt the program was not able to provide you with a positive measure. Feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss some of the points you raised, as they are not to be discounted. Feel free to reach out directly to Melanie or Michelle as well.

Very nice, responsive with me when I was trying to get my teenage daughter admitted for help, now they won't return a call or email from me. They discharged my daughter 2 weeks into the program because she approached them with at least 3 HIPAA violations and asked her to "keep it on the down low". Yes, she is a typical teenager with anger issues/non violent issues, and alcohol issues. They didn't follow her plan, instigated issues, showed an outside teenage boy how to operate the cameras that also showed the girls bathroom and didn't follow their procedure or the federal law. I had to get her 9 hours total drive within 24 hours. What's expected of a teenager (even an adult) that is not getting their drug/alcohol of choice?? Although the plan began to work, she did learn a couple of things and came out with a better attitude, they chose not to help her because she was a risk for telling what they were doing wrong. I know what happened and you will too if you check the camera feed. Get "Mel" out of there she is bad for the kidsYes, I filed complaints with OCR and Insurance.

Sarah, I would ask that you reach out to our Adolescent Director of the Scholze Center for more clarification on the situation. We still expect those in our program to be respectful of others and to follow the rules.

Pw. My son was on a behavioral plan and then there was a incident with 2 other boys getting in a fight(my son was not physically in the fight)but the law was called and he was took to a juvenile center and kicked out of the program and never was put on a behavioral contract. I think the program was doing him good and he was halfway through the program and got discharged by staff that wasn't the directors of the program. I would like to understand why he didn't get the behavior contract instead of being kicked out. I think it was very unfair

i was here and got disrupted because staff members were lying about the things i said and doing. the kids are out of control and the staff is awful they don t care about the kids or there treatment. if one person got in trouble everyone got in trouble you could sit there all day and do nothing and get into trouble.

Response from the owner2 years ago
Jeremiah, I am sorry that your stay was disrupted while at the Scholze Adolescent Center. I would welcome a meeting with your parents to further discuss the allegations you have made. Often times we find that we get out of a program is exactly what we put into it. I hope that you are able to change your life in a positive way.
