About BHG Virginia Beach Treatment Center

During MAT, FDA-approved medications are combined with mental health counseling to address the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of addiction. Individual counseling, group counseling, and dual diagnosis treatment are provided. The medications assist individuals by mitigating withdrawal symptoms and reducing cravings, allowing for a greater chance of success in recovery. The counseling portion of the program helps individuals work through the underlying issues that perpetuate their addictive tendencies. Clients learn new coping skills and strategies to live a life of recovery.

As a person progresses in their treatment program, it is common to step down their frequency of care. Aftercare services provide ongoing support through counseling and self-help groups.

Behavioral Health Group BHG – Virginia Beach Treatment Center accepts most insurance plans, including Anthem, Beacon, Magellan, Cigna, Ambetter, and more. Out of network benefits may vary, so it is important to verify coverage with your provider prior to starting treatment.

This place is a joke especially the obot program lately. Ask for help and they say I don't know what to tell you. Sounds like if you're not gonna really help people with an addiction problem then you need to get a different job in a different field.

I've been coming to the program for 3 and 1/2 years now and I've never had problems. A few weeks ago I was told my insurance and lapsed and I was no longer covered which my insurance is Medicaid I've had a difficult time trying to get my Medicaid reinstated because of different bumps down the road with doing the right application and other things I've gotten in the way with getting it fixed when I was confronted by the staff member she explained that since I had that insurance problem but I would need to start paying cash and then had me sign a contract stating that I would need to make $60 payments every week on Mondays. I'm still not with my Medicaid reinstated and having a very difficult time you need to go down to their office to take care of things but I'm having time giving down there recently today I would normally have bought my $60 payment in but my husband just recently lost his employment and I explained to believe by the teller that I was getting myself together I just needed a little extra time maybe the following day I would be able to bring it when I said that the girl looked at me very aggravated her eyes were very wide I think she maybe felt like I was lying to her and I'm not quite sure but she became very very rude and then told me that good morning no excuses that I needed to bring that payment in tomorrow no weather no excuses after I did explain to her that my husband had just lost his job and we were struggling really bad right now she did not care. Then the other staff behind the counter for talking about I guess my case and we're bringing out some information which took a little while longer than I was hoping because I had something outside waiting for me and that was my ride but then finally Louise came out and took me find the door basically tell me that I need to start paying $120 by the next day if I didn't bring $120 and tomorrow then I will be forced to start detoxing or being taken out of the program. I really cannot believe this how can they do this to people. Today I've been sitting at my home trying to think of any possible way to get $120 to pay these people so I can continue to program and I honestly don't even know what to do I don't have that kind of money I don't understand why they can't work with me and let me pay something a payment that I can afford. Instead of working with me to get through my financial slump thing or basically done with me and one for me out of the program unless I have that money I just can't believe that these people are seriously shooting me that way I mean excited I'm treating me like I'm some kind of liar I really hope somebody reads money review and could possibly give me some answers on what to do but never worried so much about being a bill in my life like this I feel like they made threats about it and I'm just really hurt and repulsed by that they just don't care if their client is struggling and has the financial difficult problem going on in their life you would think they want to work with us in situations like this because these are unfortunately be very reasons why some of us relapse and turn back to a unhealthy way of living I've been so upset and crying all day I just don't know what to do they told me to I need to find somebody to borrow $120 from like a family member or something but obviously they just don't understand that sometimes these things too are not able to do please I will welcome any advice at all or help or tell me what to do to get this problem fixed and maybe some people that work with us to make plans financially make payments that we can afford I'm still stay in our program who is it hold on who is it changing clothes and texting

This is a new experience for me and my partner. The counselors and director of counseling seem to care a lot. The urine nurse is also a highlight as she made me feel human. The ladies behind the counter will follow protocol but they make you feel human also. However, dosing has a few problems to lookout for. Sometimes they only have one nurse available which contributes to long lines. Also, sometimes due to high dosing there can be some looks that make you second guess your recovery. This doesn't really matter though because the directors will take care of problems brought to their attention and again counseling really seems to have your back especially Liz.

Location

Accepted Insurance

BHG Virginia Beach Treatment Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients participating in a rehab aftercare program receive comprehensive and customized support as they leave high-intensity treatment, reintegrate into their community, and focus on maintaining their sobriety. These programs offer a wide variety of services to align with the client's unique and evolving needs, often including medical, mental health, and social service program referrals. Clients typically develop their drug rehab aftercare plan in conjunction with their case manager and care team.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in Virginia requires careful planning and execution. Due to complex family dynamics, intervention services are often necessary to help families successfully navigate the process. An intervention specialist can help family members plan what they will say and then facilitate the conversation. This expert also educates everyone involved about addiction, enabling behaviors, and treatment options.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you enroll in drug rehab in Virginia, a treatment plan is designed by professional staff in order to help you overcome drug addiction and modify addictive behaviors. This may include evidence-based treatments, group and individual therapy, and relapse prevention.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

When men and women in Virginia participate in group therapy sessions, they learn to freely express their emotions in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and begin to understand the link between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are associated with addictive behavior.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy helps you understand and manage the emotional and physical responses that often follow witnessing or experiencing traumatic events. Using therapeutic interventions, your therapist works with you to reframe that experience, which in turn reduces your anxiety and helps you regain control over your life.

Family therapists work with all members of the family to understand the roles they play in the addiction dynamic. Addressing these patterns is crucial to developing healthier ways to interact and support each other, as well as contributing to a more effective recovery for their loved ones.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

This program is the worst that I have ever seen. They are not about helping people , they are all about taking money. I signed up for the program and had to go to New York, for a law suit case. So I went to the heads of the program and explained my situation and asked them could they help me get a courtesy dose, they in turn told me to find the program in New York, and bring them the information , which I done. The next day when I returned with the information, they told me they could not help me. So I told the staff I had to be there or I would lose my case. was told by staff , { i dont know what to tell you } When I returned They are defrauding medicaid , and ripping the cash paying patients off. I am going to report them to medicaid to help those that they are taking advantage of and dont know what to do. they told me that I owed them 105.00 , for the time I was in New York. I am cash paying patient and they are charging me for days that they done nothing at all , I have pay them regardless if I dose or not , what program takes your money for nothing at all ! They need to close this program down.

Everyone is pretty good there, except this one counselor named Sherman. He s the WORST. He won t lift a damn finger to help you get takehomes. He will straight forget you. And then he will yell at you like it s your own damn fault! But it s a good place unless you get him. If. You do might be better to just keep using in all honesty

BHG on Princess Anne is doing a great job!! Their facility is under going new construction now, but looks like the new facility will be great!!! They are always clean, they re professional and courteous, not quick to throw you out, understanding and compassionate. I ve been here almost a year and not to sound cliche, but methadone treatment has saved my life!! To have no panic in the morning time and know I can get through the day okay, is a freedom I m so grateful for!! I m also a long term pain patient and they are understanding and I feel my pain is managed well with the treatment. Thank you to all the staff at BHG that have always been more than helpful!! Update;A year later, they are about to make me quit after 2yrs of progress!! Still not at a dose that works for me. Now, they want me to see a counselor every time I come. The dealer is easier. Get it together BHGBHG has got it together now. They re good. It s a good clinic. Love Deneasha, Paula, Paris and Mr Givens!!! Great team on board currently!! July, 2023Thanks to the needle exchange program as well!! A lifesaver. Literally.

My spouse has been a patient here and has been clean for over 8 months & has yet to make any progress within the program for take homes because about 1 out of every 6 drug screens produces a false positive. She hasn t been able to speak to a counselor in months bc they re never available. Nobody cares. And they have a clear issue at the drug testing lab they use where it does not produce adequate results. How can anyone make progress here under those conditions?

Everyone has been extremely helpful here and professional. If there are negative reviews on here, more than likely it is the patient who cannot own up to their mess up. Noone is perfect and everyone messes up. Relapse is a part of addiction. Its up to us to not mess up over and over and over again. BHG will stand by you during your recovery and your mess up (relaspes). There has to be a point where they have to decide when it is time to stop contributing to your addiction because you have fallen back into it. They aren't doing this, you are. Yes sometimes the UAs have issues but they correct it. You can take another test immediately to prove it. There are steps they take to make sure you don't have repercussions because of a false positive. I have been dealing with BHG for over 11 years and I have not had any extreme issues. I don't care what color you are, they treat everyone the same so I don't want to hear that either. If there is a problem with a staff member, they will correct it. So I don't have anything to say but positive things about the entire BHG staff at Newtown and PA. Thank you all for everything! Also, not only have I been a patient here but also my sisters and my fianc. Once again Thank you all!
