About AToN Center

AToN Center is an addiction rehabilitation facility for adults aged 18 or older in Encinitas, California. They provide substance use programs that are tailored to an individual’s specific needs. Their services are a combination of group activities, medication regimens, and mental health support. Clients will participate in five individual therapy sessions a week. They also have access to medication assisted detox if needed.

One unique thing about this location is that it offers alternatives to the traditional 12 Step program. Some of those non 12 Step treatments include physical fitness and meditation. Amenities at this facility include a pool, a jacuzzi and an onsite chef.

During rehabilitation, staff members will use a combination of Eastern holistic healing techniques and Western recovery practices to help clients with their addiction. Some of the evidence based treatments that are available at AToN Center are dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other similar therapeutic approaches. Clients will receive 24/7 support from the staff, with regular review of the treatment plan to make necessary adjustments. Patients will participate in three holistic treatment sessions per week. These treatments may include acupuncture, massage therapy, guided imagery and yoga. AToN Center uses holistic medicine to help promote self healing.

Most residents will stay at the facility for 30 to 90 days, with the timeline varying based on an individual’s specific needs and goals. If a client is suffering from a more severe form of addiction, they may need to stay at the facility longer. Residents will be able to have access to their electronics to stay in contact with friends and family. Their family and friends are also encouraged to come visit in order to provide support.

Aton was an amazing place I would refer to anyone needing treatment. There wasn t a single staff member who was rude, great therapists, very clean facility, fast response from doctors, amazing case worker that will help set you up for aftercare anywhere in the country, and top notch holistics. Unfortunately I ve been to many rehabs and no where even holds a candle to this place. Would only send my family or friends here. Thank you ATON!

Accepted Insurance

AToN Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.
12-step icon12-Step
AToN Center's 12 step rehab programming recognizes that education on the most widely used recovery tool in the industry is, and should be a core programming component for any addiction treatment center. The facility believes that a person’s choice of which type of community support meetings they attend should be an informed one. That is why we explain recovery concepts from an integrated perspective, discussing the tenets of AToN Center's philosophy and the 12 Step philosophy.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
When an individual is in denial about their substance use disorder, their loved ones may organize a drug intervention in California. This effort involves gently but assertively confronting the individual about their substance use and sharing how it has affected those who care about them. A professional interventionist may also attend this gathering. Their expertise with intervention services can prove helpful in guiding the conversation to a positive result.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
During the first phase of recovery – detox – it is crucial to have 24-hour clinical care in California. This care provides constant monitoring in order to ensure your safely and comfort as you progress through the withdrawal process for drug or alcohol addiction. Licensed professionals prescribe medications to treat withdrawal symptoms and provide frequent monitoring to ensure your safely as addictive toxins leave your system.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

AToN Center specializes in the treatment of substance abuse & co-occurring disorders. Their integrated services approach offers each client the opportunity to engage in a variety of addiction treatment methods. the facility conducts three hours of group therapy and one hour of individual therapy daily. Family sessions are also offered and encouraged. It is their belief that a “one size fits all” approach to addiction recovery can be ineffective, and that each client deserves the opportunity to experience a multitude of therapeutic approaches - known as holistic addiction treatment - in order to create a treatment plan that best fits their unique needs and experiences.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

While participating in dialectical behavior therapy in California, you'll focus on four key areas of skill development: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. Treatment includes weekly individual and group sessions.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

For clients who are struggling with ambivalence toward change, motivational interviewing in California can help strengthen their commitment to change. Using a conversational method, the therapist helps you explore your motivations and empowers you to make the changes you desire.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

The goal of couples therapy in California is to strengthen the couple's relationship. The therapist may take one or more approaches to counseling which may include the Gottman method, emotionally focused therapy, behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic couple's therapy.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

My time at the AToN Center has truly been a transformative journey that has forever changed my life. While the center undeniably lives up to its well-deserved reputation for its luxurious amenities, exquisite dining experiences, and stunning residences, the true beauty of AToN lies in its pioneering approach to treating addiction.Throughout my life, I have grappled with alcohol use disorder, enduring countless attempts at recovery through a standardized 12-Step approach that never resonated with my personal recovery journey or aligned with my deeply-held beliefs. However, from the moment I arrived at AToN, the clinical staff embarked on a remarkable path of addressing the underlying issues that plagued me: past traumas and unresolved grief that fueled my depression, anxiety, and ultimately, my addiction. Moreover, AToN's commitment to individualized care is unparalleled. They provided me with the opportunity to engage with multiple therapists, allowing me to actively participate in designing a personalized recovery plan that caters to my unique needs. This plan incorporates evidence-based treatment strategies, providing me with a clear roadmap towards a fulfilling life in recovery.AToN Center represents the vanguard of addiction treatment. They have embraced a future where comprehensive healing is not just a dream but a reality. My month-long stay here has shown me the immense potential for genuine transformation, and I am forever grateful for the compassionate support and expert care I received at AToN.

This place was life changing. I found ATON after a recent life upheaval left me drinking like crazy and unable to dig myself out of a deep depression. I went in a total empty shell of a person , and left there FOREVER changed! ATON s focus on dealing with WHY you struggle with addiction rather than just putting a bandaid over it .. is the only reason I am thriving today. I had been to a rehab 3 years prior and saw what makes ATON so different than ANY OTHER program. First off, you are in such BEAUTIFUL surroundings, staff is there 24 hrs a day to make sure you have what you need and lastly .. constant therapy and holistics to make sure your mind, body, and soul are all being treated. The staff would have the jacuzzi and coffee ready for me by 5am. I would listen to my music or podcasts while watching the sunrise In this gorgeous backyard. Then do a cold plunge in the pool. It was so peaceful and put me into a routine I would carry on when I got home. The food is top notch and they accommodate ANY recommendations you ask for. The therapists genuinely care and listen. They are all working together to make sure you are on a path to recovery once you leave and prep you for what comes after. Breana was AMAZING in dealing with your aftercare She lined me up with therapists for me AND my daughter. Did all the legwork with insurance etc. I was able to just focus on ME. Kiyana and the rest of my team helped me deal with the root of my struggles .. that went BEYOND just drinking. I left there completely changed! It s been over 3 months and I still sit down and go through my big binder of notes from our daily therapy sessions. I Kept up my daily routine of self care and taking time Out. My kids and family can t believe what a changed person I am. I just couldn t be more grateful to this place. I would HIGHLY recommend this program to ANYONE as long as you go in ready to change and do the work you ll never be the same. I owe my life to ATON

Awful. Food here is gross. There were many people in treatment besides myself who got violently ill from the "chef's" special. We are talking up all night in the bathroom, I won't go into more detail.Don't even get me started on the money hungry manager and rude staff. Management stinks worse than the food.

Response from the owner11 months ago
Joe Schmoe we assume this is an alias and we are skeptical that you have been a client at AToN Center, but if you have we highly encourage you to reach out to our Program Director and/or CEO immediately. We have never had anyone get violently ill from our food and have 3 full-time chefs that pride themselves on providing fresh, healthy food. I might add that our staff also enjoy our food and there have been ZERO reports of illness. If you are thinking of coming to the AToN Center please see other reviews, as the food is often a highlight of an individual's stay.

My whole life has been defined by my depression, anxiety and substance use disorder. AToN was not my first treatment rodeo (so I will declare my self an expert here). However, AToN by far the best and I would rate it as one of the greatest experiences of my life (which admittedly is a crowded field when one drank and used like I used to). The residential atmosphere combined with small group sessions and the most progressive state of the art approach to treatment has let me feel that eye of the tiger fight for life for the first time in 20 years. The importance of the precision, individually tailored, approach prescribed at AToN cannot be understated. The fact that each patient gets 1 individual therapy session a day as opposed to 1 a week (nobody can cover the necessary ground in just 4 individual sessions over a 30 day stay) is paramount. If you re one of us that has touched the void and can t find your way back, start here. AToN s trauma informed approach teaches you that everyone deserves another shot at redemption. Absolutely everyone.

Response from the owner11 months ago
Hi Alex, thank you so much for your honest review of your experience while at AToN. We are happy that you felt supported by the structure here, and that we were able to create a supportive environment for your "eye of the tiger, fight for your life." Amazing to hear that you felt the daily individual sessions and small groups were helpful in your journey to recovery and finding yourself again.
