About Ascension Providence DePaul Center

Ascension Providence DePaul Center, located in Waco, Texas, offers programs that address complications linked to mental illness, including drug and alcohol addiction and social isolation. They provide personalized care plans that address prevention, interventions, treatments, and recovery support services.

Ascension Providence DePaul Center offers inpatient and partial hospitalization treatment.

Inpatient treatment is for those who need mental and physical stabilization. This is a highly structured and monitored style of treatment that often incorporates detoxification into the process. Once stabilization has been achieved, counseling, educational classes, and behavioral approaches to treatment can begin. Common elements of inpatient include individual therapy, group therapy, and at times medication or trauma-informed counseling.

Partial Hospitalization is a day treatment program that is highly structured, yet allows for the flexibility of returning home in the evening. This program requires that there is no immediate danger that would require inpatient hospitalization. It incorporates clinical treatment practices for addiction such as medications, individual and group therapy, and trauma-related counseling. Evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing are incorporated into the treatment process.

Mental health treatment focuses on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and other challenging psychiatric conditions. Individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy all serve as ways to deliver mental health support. These services can be administered while in an inpatient setting, within an outpatient setting, or at a clinical office.

Individual therapy creates the space to explore the psychological challenges associated with the addiction. With the help of a professional, individuals are given the space and direction to talk about and process their emotions. Often this includes unresolved trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, and the need for more control or autonomy in life. It also often explores childhood wounding and the resiliency available to each person through effective and meaningful therapy.

My son at the age of 21 started battling bipolar schizophrenia, he was diagnosed and put on disability at the age of 24. He would not accept being mentally ill and refused to take meds.. When the voices got unbearable he went to Providence ER and asked for help they admitted him into DePaul MHMR to start treatment and Dr.. Joshua Warren was the psychiatrist assigned to treat him. on the 2nd day there he went to the dayroom and told the nurse to get security he felt out of control, he lunged at the security guard he was tackled and restrained his doctor told him he was getting kicked out of hospital and ticketed for assault due to assaulting staff. My son told the doctor if they made him leave and wouldn t help him then he was going to walk to the hwy and jump in front of a 18 wheeler and kill himself cause he couldn t handle the pain or the voices. His psychiatrist told him he did not meet the criteria for in-house care and that he was just med seeking and trying to avoid being discharged to the streets. They ignored him and escorted to him off the property. He went straight to the hwy and did just what he said he was gonna do, committed suicide by jumping in front of a 18 wheeler. This happened on Jan.10th 2020, exactly a month before his 25th birthday

Wouldn't even talk to me without a referral of some sort. But the girl at the front desk was very nice. If it weren't for her I'd of given no stars if possible.

I have to say DePaul is a wonderful place. I have great respect for all the workers there. They are very caring and make the patient feel very special. I know all patients are different. But this is the best place in Waco. And the Dr's are amazing. I would give them 100 stars if I could . They are hard working people. Love to all of DePaul. Lupe and Joseph Pena.

Accepted Insurance

Ascension Providence DePaul Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

You only get to visit between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm. My husband ended up with a blood clot in his left leg and they took him to the hospital at 9:00 am on a Monday, but I didn't find out until 3:30 which was the start of visiting hour. The person that I complained to said they would have to see if I was on his contact list.

I Been trough it all in this place first I wanna state the Front desk lady Big white lady very rude she made my anxiety jump off the roof even more she wasn't helpful she was very rude if people are going there for mental illness you shouldn't put someone with that attitude in the front desk yeah she was nice to her coworker but not to the patients waiting in the lobby this place should atleast have a spouse or a family member be with you while you are getting process I had to wait alone and that just made me have a very bad panic attack the first time i wasn't getting heard i kept telling them I'm claustrophobic and I have BPD so it makes it harder to be in small spaces they weren't listening to me I had a panic attack and all the staff did was sit there and watch me for an hr in see through window but not just the staff but the patients. The 2nd time I went in I lasted almost 24hr waited to be seen and when I did get seen I wanted to checked myself in for my own safety I'm not good being around men and they wanted to force me to have a group session with all men and me being the only female in the group I refuse to sit because I knew I was going to have a panic attack I told them about all my menatl health issues and they just were ignoring me so they said I do the group or leave I decided to leave my husband found me on the side of the road having a panic attack and they also discharge me without my prescriptions that the ER gave me for my UTI Both my case worker and psychiatrist in HMMR were both in shock that they did that to me Never again will I be going there till they do some changes

-UPDATE: If you want timely responses from Drs and competent management of medications DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, no matter how good the doctor may be. Still no call as of 12/24 and now I have to wait until next week. Changing my review from 2 to 1 star because this is ridiculous. I will no longer be using this office to manage medication.-This is regarding the clinic. I like my psychiatrist, but communication is awful and getting in touch with anyone or getting medications approved can be hell. I ve called multiple times for the last 3 days about switching a prescription due to insurance issues. I ve been without the medication for 4 days now and I have yet to receive a call back. There is one receptionist who seemed to attempt to be helpful (not sure her name, but she was working today 12/23/21 at 3:30PM.), but most of them have not. This is the only place I ve ever had these issues with. Also, the fact that the owner s reply to a negative review months ago was left with obvious N/A placeholders is astounding.
