About Anderson Oconee Behavioral Health Services

Anderson Oconee Behavioral Health Services is a mental health facility located in Anderson, South Carolina. They treat adults and adolescents who have substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder. They treat justice system clients as well. They offer both in-person and telehealth appointments.

The primary rehab service offered here is the Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP). However, they treat all kinds of mental health conditions at this facility. It can be a good option for people who have been diagnosed with a mental health condition and substance use disorder concurrently.

If you are enrolled in the intensive outpatient program, you will come in for treatment several times a week for several hours a day. If you are enrolled in the standard outpatient program you will receive treatment once or twice a week. They offer both group and individual counseling.

Before beginning treatment, you must have an in-person assessment. This costs $250. They have payment plans and financial assistance for people who cannot afford to pay upfront. If you are entering the ADSAP program, you should bring your driving records for the last 10 years to this meeting.

The state of South Carolina requires people who have been convicted of driving under the influence or boating under the influence to enroll in ADSAP. You are required to enroll in this program within 30 days of your conviction.

ADSAP is more personalized than other programs of its kind. Your treatment will be based on your assessment, and you will set specific goals for yourself. You will have both drug education and therapy. The length of treatment varies, but it can take anywhere from one to 12 months.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

12-step icon12-Step

Persons engaged in a 12 step program regularly attend group meetings in their communities, though online sessions are becoming increasingly popular. 12 step recovery is rooted in spiritual principles that enable participants to address the root causes of addiction and to foster self-awareness, compassion, acceptance, and accountability. Peer sponsors support participants as they work through the steps of recovery. Most programs are non-denominational, but specialized formats, including the faith-based Celebrate Recovery! format, are available.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

A sober living home in South Carolina is a substance-free environment for individuals who are recovering from drug or alcohol abuse. Since these settings do not provide treatment services, they are not covered by insurance. However, your treatment provider may be able to offer financial support if you need assistance with rent payment. They may also refer you to a men's or women's sober living home that offers sliding scale fees.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Withdrawing from addictive substances, like alcohol, benzodiazepines (like Xanax), or opioids, occurs during the detox process. Since this process can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects, the mission of a medically assisted detox is to provide an expert medical team to help monitor your health around the clock. They will work to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible, administering necessary medications to alleviate any withdrawal symptoms.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Choosing a drug rehab in South Carolina helps you overcome drug dependency, learn how to manage cravings, and obtain the tools needed to prevent relapse. This is accomplished through individualized treatment that addresses a full spectrum of physical, social, and emotional needs.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

The main basis of cognitive behavioral therapy in South Carolina is that all your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. Therefore, the therapist will help you change your thoughts, which will lead to different emotions and actions.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

There are four fundamental processes to motivational interviewing in South Carolina. Engaging involves careful listening to understand the client's perspective. Focusing involves reaching an agreement on the purpose of the treatment. Evoking is the process of exploring the client's ideas and motivations. Planning explores how the client can make changes.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

This organization doesn't have qualified personnel to offer quality medical services, the care of patients is very poor. I don't recommend anyone to take their loved ones to this place because they won't help them at all and they will suffer a lot.

If I could give less than one star I would, the women my boyfriend spoke to told him that if he killed himself in two weeks oh well (and yes I was in the room. I heard it myself) this place is absolutely horrible I will NEVER recommend this place or say good things. This place should be shut down. so much for mental health matters.

Response from the owner6 months ago
Brenna this is unacceptable behavior and we want to address this with you and your boyfriend in person. Please call at your convenience and ask for our compliance officer. 864-260-4168

The young woman at the front desk is so rude and unprofessional with a nasty attitude. I heard her telling somebody on the phone that I was hard of understanding when trying to receive my balance never been so disrespected and felt uncomfortable in a place where I m trying to better myself

Response from the owner3 years ago
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This is not the image or conduct we want represented for our patients from our staff. We are addressing this matter personally and encourage you to ask for management if you feel treated unfairly.
