I see my old review has disappeared, maybe because it was a few years old. But I feel strongly enough to come back and review again.I went to this heartless woman about a month after my dad suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. I told her I was having trouble grieving and needed help with the grieving process. She spent the rest of that session berating me for being obese and prioritized getting a weight management plan started. In case it s not already clear, I never asked for any assistance or raised any concerns whatsoever about my weight. She just saw a fat man. She didn t ask me one question about my father. But my dietary habits were dissected. Seriously, this woman is a detriment to the community.

If you are a "Strong independent woman who don't need no man" she is great! Especially if you're needing someone to help you set boundaries, etc. However, if you're married or plan to be married - I'm not sure i can really recommend. Ever since I met my husband she openly disapproved. From the beginning she constantly told us "if you don't do X your marriage wont work out." This did make us want to try harder in our relationship, but the advice she gave always ended up making things worse in my marriage. It was a vicious cycle: She'd tell us what to do, we would do it, it wouldn't work for us, We would argue about it, then tell her about it in a session, then she'd tell us something else, then that wouldn't work... and so on and so on. The first year we were married was hell because we kept following her advice. Then she insisted on seeing documents from my husband's doctor, that we ultimately didnt feel comfortable sharing. After months of her asking for them she told me (not him) that she was "resigning" from being his therapist. She blamed us for putting her "in the middle" of our arguments, even though she would ignore messages from him and just TEXT me on my personal phone (which I asked her not to do, I told her I prefer email) and she would talk about how "we" (she and I) need to "make a game plan" for my husband's mental health... his mental health is not an issue. Mine was... but after he was basically fired from being her client, I couldn't see any reason for me to go back either.TL:DR - if you aren't willing to do everything she says, including getting a divorce, she's probably not going to help you long term.

Accepted Insurance

Wise Choices works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

For long-term recovery from drug addiction, drug rehab in Indiana is often key. This treatment gives individuals who are struggling with a substance use disorder the tools to manage their disorder and achieve long-term sobriety.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

I encountered a great counselor who was able to help me and listen to my problems without judgment. I was only disappointed with the lack of care shown by the people at the front desk.

Would never recommend anyone to go here and see Kay Wise. She made me contemplate life. She told me because I was sick and on medicine and unable to do a lot of normal things, that I was holding my family back from living a full life! That including my husband and child are all refined from being happy because of my inabilities (such as long periods of walking when we went on vacation). She had me bawling and let me leave knowing that I thought I was worthless and a burden. Telling me that I was in fact a burden to my family and they could never have a full life and happiness with me. I left and called my husband who instructed me to pull over and wait for him. He came right away and when I told him the conversation he said for absolutely no reason would I ever go back to see her.Sorry the post is rambling I m still quite upset with the whole situation.I have several work people that were also referred to her and also spoke of her terrible service to them. I felt better knowing I wasn t alone but not better knowing that there are others that also had bad experiences here, where they were supposed to be getting help.

Came in for marital counseling with my then-husband. Kay compared our marriage with her own (husband had passed), then suggested we divorce. What kind of therapist gives that kind of advice?? I surely hope that if someone comes to her for help with suicidal thoughts she doesn't suggest they do it.

Marguerite "Kay" is a true professional. I respect her immensely for her ability to get to the root of issues and to hold me accountable for choices. Highly recommend with no hesitation.
