About WellSpan Philhaven

WellSpan Philhaven is a primary and specialty care center in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. They’re a full service health center offering treatment for everything from plastic surgery to sleep disorders and cancer. They also have a behavioral health department where they treat substance abuse disorders as well as anxiety and mood disorders.

They have outpatient treatment programs and can help with opioids, alcohol, and nicotine addictions. They offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate for detox and maintenance. The doctors help create custom treatment plans that may include everyday changes such as to your diet and exercise routine.

They also have support for family members who have loved ones dealing with addiction and substance use issues. The center accepts most insurance plans in the area. They take Medicare and most Medicare supplement and Advantage plans.

Because this is a full service facility, they integrate with the other specialties. For instance, if you’re a new mom with postpartum depression, they’ll coordinate your mental health treatments with your maternity care.

The therapist creates a personalized treatment plan and works to address your needs and help you reach your goals. They use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), art therapy, and play therapy. You’ll use the therapies that work best for you. If necessary they can refer you to an inpatient program for more intensive care.

If the therapist feels medication is necessary for your mental health, you’ll see a psychiatrist. You’ll decide with your therapist when it’s time to end therapy. At least one former client felt the program was a lifesaver. Some clients weren’t as happy with their experiences.

This place is a disaster. Upon admission, I was asked where my soul goes when I die? This was after saying I lost my faith years ago. Wildly inappropriate to mention DEATH to a new patient. Or BADGER them with Christian apologist questions. That s what a possibly suicidal person wants. It felt like he was trying to convert me. It was the start of a very bad experience with the staff. I had a great time with the patients however.I didn t see the doctor for nearly 24 hours of being there. Possibly more. The list goes on but that gives you an idea. The news should send someone in there for 3-5 days and see how bad it is.If you read this after leaving the facility and have similar concerns or complaints, there are advocates. Get in touch. Someone to talk to at least.

Our daughter ( 21 yrs old) spent 3 weeks at Philhaven. She was kept safe and was at a much better place emotionally upon her release. Thank you to her therapists and Dr who was willing to make a medicine switch for the better. Also the activities were helpful. One thing we really appreciated was the phone calls she was allowed to make all day long and we could call in to talk with her any time. We spent a lot of quality time on the phone with her, it was a lifeline for her. I m sure it s not convenient for the staff to always have all these calls coming in and going out all day until late in the evening.I say Thank you for allowing us that phone time and for providing for our daughters daily needs while she was there.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

This is the 4th outpatient I have been through. The staff was nice, the buildings are nice and clean. But My therapist, Armelle, let my group attack me verbally about my childhood sexual trauma. I had told her prior about getting fondled while I was still in diapers but it didn t matter. I got NO protection AT ALL from my therapist. All she did was watch as the group attacked me all at the same time. There were several people talking angrily to me all at once and the therapist just sat there and let them attack me. I wouldn t recommend anyone to this facility or anything connected to or related to Wellspan

I was grossly over medicated here, and staff would not listen to my concerns.

I was hospitalized when I was 16 and it was the most traumatizing experience of my life. They did nothing to treat me, they took away my medication, the staff were rude and unqualified, and I was forced to stay longer because I didn t eat breakfast (nobody told me I HAD to eat all three meals) I came out far worse than I went in and to this day I would rather suffer than risk going back

A family member of mine was released at 14 days (TODAY) when I was told 20!! They released her to go home and she s back in a hospital getting evaluated less than 3 hours after her release. The doctor and nurse at the hospital said that they should have never been let go and needs extended care.

I was hospitalized (voluntarily) when I was 15. I am now 23. To this day I have a DEEP mistrust in all things psychology. They will drug you or your kid for the smallest things. I once stood up too aggressively the staff then strapped me to a backboard and sedated me against my will. I also contracted pneumonia, hand foot mouth disease, and bronchitis during my short stay. They refused to take me to a hospital and I could ve died. (According to the doctor I saw after I was released ) So in short they should all be in jail for what s going on behind these doors. ABUSE AND UNETHICAL STAFF.

Horrible treatment made everything much worse and this place made me and my parents even father apart at the time and i just had to fake it to get out of it or they wouldn't let you leave and they tell parents that its whats best for them but they don't actually do anything you talk to someone maybe once a week then they just have you go outside for maybe an hour if your on good enough terms but if not all your doing is in your room or in the common area watching a movie or something felt more like a prison then anything
