About Walker Center – Outpatient

Located in the beautiful and idyllic Twin Falls, Idaho you’ll find the vast and resourceful Walker Center. This facility offers outpatient drug rehab services for men and women suffering from drug and alcohol addictions. They also treat mental health conditions that may be co-occurring.

Their levels of care range from residential treatment to lower-level outpatient programs that only require two to four hours of treatment per week. Everyone is different so it’s important to get evaluated and find the program that best suits your needs.

Their intensive outpatient program demands a slight bit more and expects you to commit to three hours a day for three to four days a week. This may go on for three to six months depending on the severity of your condition. Finally, their residential program lasts eight weeks and has gotten praise from former clients, with one saying they highly recommend it if you’re looking to get your life back on track.

This clinic is surrounded by the lovely nature of Idaho and utilizes a down-to-earth approach to their treatment. This means you won’t be judged for where you are in your journey or how you got there.

They offer varied counseling options with their individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy all of which can really help boost your confidence in recovery and help you gain the insight and tools you need to recover the lasting way.

They also offer detox services if you need to withdrawal from drugs or alcohol before beginning your recovery journey. Some of their neat experiential treatment options include a ropes course, team-building activities and therapeutic outings.

Accepted Insurance

Walker Center – Outpatient works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
The Low Intensity Outpatient program is designed for clients who are in the early stages of change or those who are not yet ready to commit to full recovery. The client will understand the compromises and changes needed to be made for recovery. Drug testing is required to help clients gain accountability and provide structure. The treatment emphasizes abstinence, relapse prevention, disease model education, familiarization with 12-Step programs, family codependency counseling, problem solving skills, stress management and family communication skills.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
The High Intensity Outpatient program emphasizes the use of cognitive behavioral approaches and educational components to increase abstinence, promote relapse prevention, and develop the understanding of the disease model while promoting the familiarization with 12-Step programs, family codependency counseling, problem solving skills, stress management and family communication skills.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Idaho provides treatment for addiction to drugs. It usually includes a combination of treatment methods that can involve counseling, medication, and a variety of evidence-based therapies. Programs are designed to help individuals manage their substance use disorder long-term.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

The Walker Center currently incorporates individual sessions into the treatment plan to address issues specific to the client’s needs. If there are cultural, language, developmental or other treatment needs such as mental health or physical health concerns, these can be addressed in individual sessions. It is to be noted that The Walker Center philosophy, as evidenced in best practice, is that the majority of treatment occurs in group.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Therapists who specialize in experiential therapy understand how emotional and physical responses work and can help you rewire your automatic responses. These neurobiological changes are facilitated through hands on interventions like art, music, or animal therapy.

The front receptionist forgot I had confirmed my appointment. And gave my appointment away the day before my scheduled appointment after id waited 6 weeks. When I had called back about my appointment being given away even though I had confirmed. She fought with me denying I had confirmed, she said with that attitude I wouldn't make it long there. When I had shown her screenshots proving I had spoken to her, she ignored me and wouldn't schedule me. Until I had to go above her, to her boss, which she was proven to have been wrong, it took 2 weeks just to hear back about the out come of the incident. I won't be going here or referring anyone tgere

Response from the owner1 year ago
We sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding your appointment and we appreciate your patience with us in resolving the issue. We ve taken steps to avoid this happening again in the future.

I would not recommend this place...All because of one staff member. It's too bad, that one of their counselors there, has no business doing such a job. People go there to get help. A huge decision for that client and their families!I am going to state the name of the counselor, employed with The Walker Center in Gooding.. Jen Ford. Jen, I hope this review, finds your eyes. You had NO RIGHT calling my daughter and attorney, the minute I left....Just to 'stir the pot'. Well, it didn't work Jen. I don't think I've ever been so angry. I would love to know, why did you wait til after I was gone to make your calls? When you could have called them while I was in your office.. So unprofessional of you . Almost seems like you were thinking you could gather a couple allies..(since you have none) Its your job, to mind your own business. Your business, is not contacting family members and attorneys, behind clients backs. Didnt you think id call my daughter myself, to let her know i was home? You dont know me very well, which isnt a surprise. I feel like you owe them an apology.. Don't worry about my apology.Im giving The Walker Center in gooding, a two star review, because youre so unprofessional! I believe i can say..How dare you!

Hi Nancy, I d like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Your review is noted to be on our outpatient facility rather than our residential facility, which you mention. We apologize that you did not feel communicated with about the post-discharge contact that occurred. I want to reassure you that it is of utmost importance to the Walker Center that all individuals receive the services they need as well as coordination of care. It is our policy and practice that specific contacts are notified upon discharge, as noted in the disclosure and consent for treatment forms at the time of admission. Our clinical staff, as well as all other direct care staff, are provided regular training to ensure our mission and values are adhered to. Thank you again for your feedback, and this will be directed to our Quality Assurance Committee for further review.

I highly recommend Staying Away from this Unorganized Establishment!!! On August 1st I made Three appointments for the following Three Mondays and the inept staff Forgot to put them in their system. They decided Without Telling me that were putting me on their waiting list because the counselor I was seeing was leaving. Even though I had said that I Preferred to continue seeing her Until She Left!! I m unimpressed AND I WILL NOT BE BACK!!!

Response from the owner1 year ago
Hi Sheila, we re sorry for the miscommunication. We have been working hard over the last 3 years to get the right systems in place with the correct training of our staff. I m sorry if we fell short with you, and hope that you got the help you needed. Regardless of your experience, know that we are here for you and hope that you ll give us a second chance if you ever need it, as we all deserve one.
