Treatment consists of just roaming the halls hoping to pass the time, so you don't hang yourself from boredom. The meals are whatever and people mostly keep to themselves. The social workers and staff are nice.

I called today about my beloved one and the nurse laughed at me, LAUGHED at something that was not in the least funny. I am really worried about my beloved one being in this facility and plan to go tomorrow and see what the conditions are. I will take my loved one out of this place if i find any of these horrible reviews to be correct. I will not have people taking care of my loved ones that aren't super caring and compassionate. If i find they've mistreated her in any way, i will do everything in my power to shut the place down. I've read very bad reviews and a few good ones. I am not satisfied and cannot wait to get there and see what i find.Update!! I'm furious!! I'm going to call Floyd Knobs Police tomorrow and ask them why my daughter was made to take her clothes off and squat in front of THREE MALE OFFICERS!!! THIS IS ILLEGAL!! A FEMALE OFFICER HAS TO BE PRESENT WHEN THIS IS DONE AND MEN OFFICERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WITNESS SUCH THINGS!! THESE OFFICERS SHOULD BE FIRED!! I'M GOING TO FILE A HUGE COMPLAINT TOMORROW AS I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT IT. I'M ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS.

In using this mental health for a crisis, I was treated more like a criminal. The nurse NEVER introduced herself. Then came a strip search with a bend over and cough. When I questioned her authority, she pulled 2 male Sherriff's officers into the room to threaten me with them physically strip searching me. I am a 5'2", 113 lb woman. I would never send anyone I knew to them. And only ended up there because the telehealth service completed at another facility kept dropping. The "therapist" that decided I needed to be transferred to Clark couldn't even have a discussion with me. I will NEVER use any Norton or Clark facility, and I will tell EVERYONE about my experience at 5AM on 05/01/2024.

Accepted Insurance

Clark Memorial Hospital – Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Persons who require high-level support but who do not wish to leave their homes or communities may enroll in an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Clients typically commit to a minimum of nine treatment hours across three therapeutic sessions per week, but many programs offer up to 20 hours of care weekly. Most intensive outpatient rehabs provide a combination of psychotherapy, recovery education, and holistic care. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is widely available for those in alcohol or opioid recovery.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

I would HIGHLY recommend Clark Memorial Hospital Mental Health Clinic to anyone who is having a difficult time with their mental health. I ended up in the emergency room back in April of 2022 at age 20, due to a severe panic attack. I met with Kristin via the computer while sitting in the ER and was encouraged to take part in an outpatient group therapy program (IOP) at the mental health clinic. I decided to take the chance and give it a try, which I will forever be grateful for. Here is a bit of my experience at this amazing center:I started the IOP in a very low place. Irrationally terrified of coming in to contact with germs, I would wear three masks in the building, sit in the corner of the room away from anyone, and wouldn t touch anything unless I thoroughly sanitized it. I rarely left my house, could not go into stores, enter people's homes, or attend my college classes. I was having constant panic attacks, felt miserable, and dreaded waking up every morning. IOP, which was led by two amazing therapists named Lauren Bayens and Thomas Banta, completely turned my life around. With their guidance and unconditional support, they slowly helped me return to society. My masks slowly started coming off, I could engage and sit with my group members and did not need to frantically clean the room before I could sit down. Lauren and Thomas are amazing therapists and I know I can rely on them if I ever need someone to talk to.Along with Thomas and Lauren's wonderful guidance, I also work with Kristin Painter, who is an amazing therapist. She is always there when I need her, helps keep me on track, and sits with me while I process difficult emotions and feelings. She knows when I need to be pushed but also knows when I need a break and always makes sure I am in a good place before I leave her office. Without her, I do not know where I would be. She helped me learn to be assertive, how to gain independence, and guided me through some challenging memories. I trust her with anything, and I look forward to our time together every week. I also worked with an amazing psychiatrist named Emily Terry and although she no longer works at Clark, I couldn t leave a review without giving her a quick shoutout. Emily made me feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for every time I entered her office. I could tell her absolutely anything and she would truly listen to every word. In the months leading up to her leaving, she made sure I felt safe and sat with me through all the uncomfortable feelings. She is very much missed, and I am forever grateful that I had the opportunity to be her patient. I am a better person just by knowing Emily and learning from her.I now have Dr. J as my psychiatrist. Dr. J helped me through the transition of switching psychiatrists and listened to every worry I had. I feel safe every time I am in his office. He explains every medication to me in detail and is always careful not to overwhelm me. He treats me with respect and makes me feel well cared for. Dr. J is very professional, and I know that I can rely on him. The front office team is also a key factor in why this clinic is amazing. Pammy, Donna (who retired but still comes to help occasionally), Autumn, and Destiny are the best. They are one of the highlights of my appointments. They never fail to make me laugh and having them as the first people I see when I enter the building makes my day better every time.I would recommend Clark Memorial Hospital Mental Health Clinic to anyone. There is no limit to what their care can do. Thank you, Lauren, Thomas, Kristin, Emily, Dr. J, Pammy, Donna, Autumn, and Destiny, for everything to do. I am forever grateful for you all.

Fantastic and welcoming staff, I've been through a lot of different places, therapists, and psychiatrists, and this was the only place I felt cared about me and gave me actual help. If you're thinking about treatment, give this place a shot, you won't regret it.

I have been coming here 3 years, i am seeing both Thomas and Sharon, in that time i have been overwhelmed with the help they have given. Both them and the others at this location have been great about listening and helping me in my mental health journey. Unlike other therapist i have had, they dont seem disinterested and seem to genuinely care. They have bent over backwards to help me get what i needed when i needed it, helped me be in a better place than ive been in years, and through their help i have continued to grow and get better
