Sitting here in ER with mom in severe pain for over 2 and a half hours now and nothing. At least 4th time ever coming to this ER. Every time it s a wait for hours for 10-15 minutes of actual treatment. It s beyond ridiculous. Didn t want to drive clear to Morgantown but will from now on. Would have been treated and home by now. Without a doubt!!!

Accepted Insurance

United Hospital Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs support clients' long-term recovery through a robust continuum of care aligned with clients' evolving needs. Many programs feature transitional services for clients stepping down from intensive inpatient care. Ambulatory medical detox is also available in some outpatient facilities for clients at low risk for withdrawal complications. Outpatient treatment centers typically encompass multiple levels of care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), supportive housing, and standard outpatient programming.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients in addiction recovery often transition from inpatient rehab to intensive outpatient programs (IOP) to promote their successful reintegration into their home, workplace, and community. These programs provide high-level support for clients in early recovery and those at an increased relapse risk, offering between nine and 20 hours of treatment per week on average. Intensive outpatient treatment typically involves a range of therapeutic approaches, including psychotherapy, recovery education, holistic treatments, such as acupuncture, and medication assisted treatment (MAT) for alcohol and/or opioid dependency.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
If you have become physically dependent on drugs or alcohol, quitting abruptly can cause withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, headaches, flu-like symptoms, and more. In severe cases, these withdrawal symptoms can even be dangerous. In medically assisted detox, a team of licensed professionals will monitor your vitals, provide medication if needed, and help keep you as safe and comfortable as possible during this process.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
postpartum-program thumbnail image
Postpartum Program
The postpartum period is a sensitive time, especially for women in addiction recovery. Rehabs with specialized programs for new mothers will offer compassionate, personalized care to meet each client's needs as they transition from pregnancy to this season of life. Care teams may include obstetricians, pediatricians, and social workers working collaboratively to give women, children, and families a healthy future.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

This hospital has helped the city on many occasions because it is one of the best-prepared staff. My problem was when I realized that mental health is not seen as very important.

I know with confidence that my doctor is giving his all in treating my disease. He and the nurse treated me with great respect and dignity. These are all very crucial to me.

They did a good job. The facility is just fine. Some of the nurses are unprofessional and criticize patients, which can be heard. Some of the nurses are top notch. I will not name names. It seemed to me to be a mixed bag. My surgeon was good. My head nurse was very good. At least a few of the side nurses were good. My criticisms are basically stop talking about your patients, even jokingly. We can hear you. It doesn't matter if you don't say who. It could be any of us. Unprofessional. Have to drop a star.

We were here for 13 hours from start to finish. The intake was due to Psychiatric concerns, we were waiting for a transport to another h it for 6 hours by EMS. The nurses on the ER unit between the hours of 8pm and 10pm were extremely rude, one in particular was just so disrespectful and rude her tone, her facial expressions, everything about her was just unpleasant. The PA working the ER was unorganized and did not communicate. I had to ask over and over about transport. Was told they would be at UHC within the hour to transport my family member. That transport ETA went waaaay over. I am disgusted and disappointed to say the very least. Next visit we will not for Ruby because this hospital has always been a problem.

I will never forget Dr. Benjamin Raymond s emotionally sadistic treatment of my mom in her final hours. She deserved better I ve seen empathetic and knowledgeable doctors; I ve seen doctors that cry for a lost patient; if you have a bad feeling about a particular doctor, move on. Find someone better. Find someone with the same technical skills, but truly safe and considerate of you as a whole person. Don t accept egotistical, bullheaded behavior, even from an expert. There are always, always options. Here s a tip, Dr. Raymond. When you want to be loud, be quieter. And when you kinda desire to be quiet, be loud. You should ve told my mom earnestly that radiation wasn t necessary for her breast cancer, but you told her in a whisper - with no significant discussion of leukemia/risks. And when she was in the ICU with leukemia, you announced loudly over her bed that she d likely die in surgery, with zero concern for how terrified she already was.The ER at this hospital is also wildly slow and inefficient if you have a life-threatening emergency, please try to go elsewhere (maybe Ruby?). I wish every day that we had.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Zavaleta at UHC in Bridgeport, WV, for the exceptional care he provided my father over the past week. Dr. Zavaleta is incredibly knowledgeable and thorough, always taking the time to explain every detail slowly and clearly, which gave our family great peace of mind. His compassion and kindness truly stand out. He listened patiently to all our concerns, answered every question, and made sure we understood my father s treatment plan. It s evident that he genuinely cares about his patients, going above and beyond to provide excellent care. We are so thankful for his dedication and expertise during this difficult time. I highly recommend Dr. Zavaleta for anyone seeking a skilled and compassionate hospitalist.

One of the worst hospitals ever! The doctors are very contradicting! 50/50 on aids & nurses with care. Seem to be all about drying insurance up before doing what needs done, food is decent only up side.

My mother was moved to the 5th floor from the 6th floor. She was walking before she was moved and continent of bowel and bladder. After she was moved, she never walked again, nurses wouldn't help her to the bathroom, served her meals without helping her, when I would show up to visit she had spilled her food tray all over her, laying in her excrement, her bowel movements dried and caked in her bed sheets. The doctor had prescribed a medication without my knowledge, the side effects made her very lethargic, a nurse told me it was prescribed to "keep her quiet"... My mother passed away not very long afterwards. This hospital is despicable!!
